Victor Mignogna v. Funimation Productions, LLC, et al. (2019) - Vic's lawsuit against Funimation, VAs, and others, for over a million dollars.

Fucking yawn, I guess adding another lawfirm to the mix didn't really help with making shit got done properly and on time. Not impressed at all by this, probably another 4d chess move by Telephone notary Beard.
Well if they needed more him to prepare it’s better that than rush something just to file to appease the peanut gallery. I get that some people have been unhappy with things so far but there are a bunch of attorneys involved here. It’s probably not a big deal.

Asking for an extension isn't new or lazy, or mean they're not getting shit done. This has to be as perfect as possible with the word limit, HSU knows what they're doing I'm pretty confident in that.

Extension aren't a bad thing, specially on appeals, you need all the time you can get to perfect that filing as much as possible.

Bunch of BHBC dickriders with salty ratings, they been a consistent disappointment with regards to this case and it's clear they're not the lawfirm for this suit, maybe if Vic was an oil baron they'd give a fuck.

They brought Martinez Hsu on to run appeals and to lighten the workload....only to delay the appeal citing too much workload. There's 5 senior partners across 2 lawfirms and best they could do was "sorry, I need more time finish my homework".

Oh yes forgive me, big firms like BHBC only work on one case at a time and don't have multiple going on, they also never run into technical issues or other things. WP is worse then any firm or thing i've ever seen, full of unethical lying wheezing speds. They lost on a dumb technicality, and chupp, but thats why appeals exist, chill down and quit being mad at HSU doing what is needed to give Vic the best chance at appeals.

They brought HSU on because I believe HSU wanted to help and joined onto the team and they also specialize in appeals, god you're mad at all the wrong things, sure, BHBC has been a bit disappointing, but thats how courts work, you have people, people are dumb. But lemons not a people so hes just fucking ultra wheezing sped.

Keep making excuses for a bunch of overpaid suits bumbling around constantly, the defendants lawyers might be scumbags but a least it feels like they're trying in their spastic filings.

I'm sure this will all work out in the end but I ever needed to file a defamation suit in the DFW district I sure as shit wouldn't pick BHBC, no matter how much of a friendly granpa vibe Ty gives off.

Ah yes, charging $170k more then the other defendants in this case and purposely running up the bill is good lawyering lmao. Also I didn't make excuses, it's just how the court system is and works.

Yeah running up god knows what in billing and then standing there like pleb while a judge torpedoes your suit so badly you have to bring in another firm to run up another bill just to tard wrangle yourself and the judge is much better play.

I never said Lemoine was good I just said he was trying, he just a colossally bad lawyer so him trying is like the one kid who ate paste at school.

Look, can we just all agree that the legal system is shit and just get over it? I'd rather they delay the document than them put out another half-baked shitty document and more fuckery like the affidavits and 2nd amended petition. It doesn't mean that they're incompetent for delaying, it just gives the defense more opportunities to throw shit into the campfire.

The literal most normal thing in any legal case is asking for and receiving extensions. This isn't some 'Lazy lawyer' shit, this is what every lawyer fucking does.

I would be willing to bet real money had they turned this in when they weren't ready and things went south, you'd be flinging shit all over this thread about how they fucked up yet again. Do something about your blueballs and back off the armchair lawyering.

Can someone explain to me why this was done 'at the last minute? Wouldn't it have been smarter to file this Friday or something and if they say no just turn in what you can?

The extension would always be granted by the Court of Appeals. The pearl clutching of the plaintiff asking for an extension of time is beyond a joke. This happens in the majority of court cases, whether civil or criminal.

There is no reason for the defendants to refuse the extension, because if they want one, they will get it also. And theirs is gonna be due around Easter.

the optimist in me wants to say the defendants didn't respond until very late meaning it wasn't known if the oppose or not but the realist just thinks this was done basically going "Yeah i guess we file it now"

Despite hiring new counsel specifically to cope with our alleged overwork issue, we're still too fat to file on time. I'm not fucking impressed, but not terribly distressed, either. What a load.

How dare you sir?! How dare you interrupt a person trying to be an edgelord on the internet while ignoring the realities of the real world?

Seriously though, this is normal procedure it seems.

This was a case where plaintiff's counsel put in a seriously lackluster performance beforehand, also involving not just lateness that by itself was purely technical, but the document actually filed was crap (and if you believe that nonsense that somehow the e-file dog ate their footnotes I have a bridge to sell you), and their first actual interaction with the appeals court that (despite the filings of both parties indicating this was not an accelerated appeal) is treating this as an accelerated appeal, is to beg off for no real reason at all.

I'll make up my mind what to think about this when something is actually filed, but after this bullshit, this had better be some fucking Clarence Darrow shit, because if it isn't. . .

I'd say this is more "normal" legal stuff, I think we've been spoiled by just how exceptional the other side has been with every "sneeze" Vic and his legal team have done. This is probably what Nick was expecting the majority of this dumpster fire of a case was SUPPOSE to be like, boring, quiet, and uninteresting, good thing though, that the defendant side, kickvic dipshits, and the law speds basically turning this into "like our Japanese animes"
