As expensive as it is, I still wouldn't pick a Switch 2 with all of its exclusives over it. In the end, my Steam library is still bigger than everything it can offer.
Damn, this doesn't bode well for the steam machine.
I was holding off upgrading my desktop and was going to get the steam machine instead, even if it was a bit overpriced compared to an equivalent PC. Paying over a grand for something with an 8gb graphics card from a generation or two ago however is hard to justify.
If it is well over a grand then I'm out, guess its back to watching GPU prices in the hope of nabbing something decent at a reasonable price.
I've been looking at prices and you can currently get a 9070 for about £520.
I could justify a Gabe cube for £600, maybe £700 at a push but if its close to or over £1,000 thats just insane. I can rebuild my entire PC for that much and it would blow the steam machine out of the water.
Nah , I think valve was cutting us an INSANE deal with oled, and this is closer to cost of manufacture now. COULD they subsidize this more? Maybe, but that's potentially s huge amount of money to bleed on something you won't recoup costs on.
My impression is it was out of stock for so long because they WANTED cheaper parts to not do this, but they eventually caved.
And yes, I know rog is more powerful, but perhaps rog has a better supply chain to make it cheaper.
For those of you who already got their new Steam Controllers, how do the triggers feel? Are they actually useable in racing games, compared the original Steam Controller?

Now it's waiting time. Even though I like valve a lot of it's over 1200$ I will not buy it. Considering the near future of hardware prices because of data centers, i am a bit sad. I expanded my steam library quite a bit because of the steam machine.
I got mine in the middle of the Great Refreshing of the check-out page on the 4th. Took a week to get delivered. Seems people on the reservation system since the 8th are getting their orders finalized from last week to now.
A Steam blog post is stating Steam Machine and Steam Frame are releasing this summer. Considering summer falls between June 21 - September 22, this is a good sign the devices are being delayed yet again.
