30 years ago this would have been 9-0 or 8-1 (Thomas) with Scalia given the opinion in favor of Birthright Citizenship. The fact this went 5-4 for the Constitutional question is significant.

Thomas is probably right that this won’t hold up to time. The logistical issues birthright citizenship creates is going to make headaches for both sides of the political aisle. Consider the DSA individuals fatigued with Israelis coming here to birth their children for dual citizenship, for example.
