BLM sues Soros-backed Tides Foundation over missing $33M (Link/Archive)
Quick Hit:
The Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation is suing the George Soros–backed Tides Foundation, alleging it mishandled and withheld $33.4 million in donations. The legal battle highlights a deepening rift within the left’s activist infrastructure, pitting two of its biggest players against one another.
Key Details:

BLMGNF claims Tides withheld $33.4 million and mismanaged funds, spending at least $6 million despite ongoing litigation.
Lawyers for BLM accuse Tides of even using over $1 million of BLM’s donations to fund its legal defense.
The lawsuit adds fuel to broader scrutiny of both groups: BLM for lavish spending, and Tides for acting as a conduit for radical left-wing causes.

Diving Deeper:
The Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation (BLMGNF), once hailed as the central hub of the BLM movement, is now locked in a bitter fight with one of its closest progressive partners. In a scathing lawsuit, BLM accuses the San Francisco–based Tides Foundation—an organization long funded by leftist billionaire George Soros—of “deceptive business practices” and “egregious mismanagement” over more than $33 million in donations.
The dispute dates back to BLM’s early days. When the group was founded in 2013, it lacked tax-exempt status and relied on Tides to serve as its fiscal sponsor, channeling millions in anonymous donations to local BLM chapters. That arrangement worked—until the 2020 surge in donations after George Floyd’s death, when BLM raked in nearly $90 million in two years. Suddenly, its partnership with Tides turned from convenience to chaos.
According to BLM’s attorney Lawrence Segal, Tides not only froze BLM’s money but actively spent it. “My client now has to pay money just to get their own money back, after my client raised 100% of it,” Segal told The Post. He further alleged that “more than $1 million has been spent by Tides out of my client’s money just on attorney’s fees — possibly to pay their own lawyers.”
The lawsuit claims Tides lumps all donor money into a $1.4 billion pool, making it impossible for groups like BLM to track their funds. “TIDES does not segregate monies. All of my client’s money is apparently commingled in one giant account,” Segal said.
Tides has denied wrongdoing, blasting the lawsuit as “completely false” and accusing BLM of trying to hijack money that donors intended for grassroots activists. Yet the optics are ugly: one progressive powerhouse accusing another of betrayal, with accusations of corruption and self-dealing on both sides.
BLM itself has faced scandals. Out of the $90 million it raised post-Floyd, just $30 million was distributed to local groups, while tens of millions went toward salaries, investments, and controversial real estate purchases tied to co-founder Patrisse Cullors. Critics say the group became a cash machine for insiders, with Cullors’ brother pocketing more than $200,000 a year as “head of security.”
The lawsuit underscores what can only be described as a civil war inside the progressive movement. Once allies in advancing radical causes, BLM and Tides are now at each other’s throats—exposing how billions in leftist activism dollars are managed, spent, and, allegedly, misused.

Come not between the nigger and his gibs.

>shot of moonman.....

Is this just some pre-existing music video they added the caption to or did they make this themselves? Because if it's the latter that can't be an accident and holy shit.
Moonman exists canonically in the McDonald's universe. It's from an old commercial.

I just want to jump in, as someone who has lysdexia, I can read just fine, voraciously in fact.

Funding health care for illegal aliens is extremely unpopular, so the Dems do really own this.

But another thing to consider when it comes to this shutdown is the internal party politics at play. Chuck Schumer is fighting to keep control of the Dems. Apparently, the radical faction of the Dems is driving for this shutdown. Schumer is afraid that he'll lose his position if he doesn't play ball with the radicals. I don't know what his strategy is going to be. Maybe he'll keep up his tough posture while allowing other Dem senators to break ranks to get him off the hook? That way he can save face.

(Anybody who thinks this is just fanfiction can read Speaker Johnson's post about this.)

I can explain this a bit more, being someone familiar with how lefty politics of the area tends to roll.

Schumer is a rare case. While I (and indeed, a great many on both sides) cannot stand the man, he's an odd case of a very savvy politician in my home state. Or at least, he used to be - before he and his associates very foolishly cozied up to the progressives and their socialist buddies thinking that it would be a particularly good way to shut down the rabble-rousers from Gen X.

Then 2008 happened. Obama got in, and the Dems had an overwhelming advantage. The shitheads in the moral majority had been totally discredited (somehow them mutating into the self-appointed fun police didn't work so well for them), the right was in disarray, and general consensus was that it was going to be a full electoral cycle before the Repubs could even manage a cogent response. The problem? After they got in, the Dems, believing they now held a lock on things, gave out power to a lot of their understudies, believing that they were doing so in a way that was low-risk. Give a couple of noisy shitheads some token positions and tone down the sperging for a while, that kind of thing.

The problem is that giving a noisy shithead power is basically enabling them, and after 2008, they saw the situation as "we're getting everything we want, so fuck everyone else." They acted like complete assholes at the community and local level, and this spread up to the state level - alienating a ton of moderates who hadn't really ever voted for a Democrat before because they genuinely believed the Obama hype. Cut to 2010, and the Dems lose their lock on power due to the DNC having major internal problems and there being gargantuan blast-back to shit Obama's administration had done, like the ACA (because we all like being forced at economic gunpoint to have junk insurance and to pay out most if not all of our yearly tax refund for not having something we can't fucking afford even with the exchanges).

With Gen X mostly fucking off to caucus with Republicans, as they realized that the Dems will throw every single possible roadblock to not give them a single concession, this made the Dems beholden to the ones that remained - the progs and socialist-types. Unfortunately, that leaves fuckers like Schumer in quite the predicament. They cozied up to the progressives for easy power, thinking they'd be more controllable than my generation, who was already chafing after years of inaction by them, only for the progressives to be more predictable, but a billion times worse in terms of what they'd demand.

While Trump was in office the first time, a shared enemy kept these disparate dem factions mostly coherent and on-focus, but after he left in 2020, the Progs did exactly what they did in 2008: "We got what we needed, and we're in charge, so we're getting what we want, fucking try to stop us." And without the Donald around to give them a collective target, they did what they usually do and immediately engaged in infighting. The hard-left is costing the Dems elections, because none of their positions are tenable outside blue-state HQ districts. The smart thing to do would be a pivot towards the center - away from the fringe that is actively fucking them over - but the Dems spent so long cozying up to these clowns that they forgot that failure to do as they say courts them pulling for their own insane political picks at the local level - something that was a big issue with groups like Justice Democrats and and the DSA primarying politicians they saw as insufficiently progressive, and now results in shitheads like Mamdani.

Which is why suddenly the lifer-types like Schumer are in a bit of a snit: If they want to not lose above the micro level, they have to appeal to the mainstream voter, but doing that means a step away from the fringe who will treat that shit as a betrayal. Some local Dem politicians in NY, like Suozzi, correctly saw the writing on the wall ages ago and pivoted accordingly, but the triangulating fucks like Schumer who cynically tried to weaponize these fucks while actively keeping them at bay don't have any remaining wiggle room.

So instead the vast majority of aspiring and responsible young women spend their first and second decades of fertility in education and full time employment. That effect by itself is enough to account for the dramatic drop in fertility, and explains why it's more pronounced among the aspirational classes.

That may be true now, but it does not necessarily mean that it will remain true going forward. There will be a mass of women who forwent having children to pursue careers that will eventually have to deal with the consequences of those choices. Already there are some women who will tell younger women that the pursuit of a career at the cost of a family was not worth it and that if they could go back and choose differently they would have done so. To some degree human social progress is so slow because there can be such a large difference between the time that choices were made and for society to see and understand the outcomes that they led to, and until that happens those decisions can appear quite attractive.

There's a tendency when examining these issues to get entirely too caught up in the present day and one's own worries, but in enough time the struggles of the present day will be ancient history to someone in that future present. It's useful to take that perspective and consider what will have happened not just a decade from now, but decades later as a consequence of that. Even if what's happening now seems stupid or shortsighted, humans don't remain that way for too long. If the choices that women are making today only lead to misery down the road, expect women in the future to eventually recognize that and make different choices. Exactly what those are may be difficult to predict, but they will be different in some way.

It's also necessary to remember that humans are animals whose behavior is controlled to some degree by genetics. On a long enough time period if there's some genetic component that makes certain women prefer careers at the expense of having families, eventually there will be fewer such women because they were less reproductively successful than those who women who chose to have families. Unless we enter into Brave New World territory where future humans are all carefully crafted tube babies, expect changes for that reason alone regardless of what humans might want to feel. There are already society attempts to steer there process, but how successful those are or may be in the future remains to be seen.

It's also hard to argue against women making this decision from the perspective of any modern society. Historically most jobs were hard manual labor that women could not perform nearly as well as men. The only way to increase economic output was to have more men to carry about more labor. However, now there are a large number of jobs that are economically useful and do not require any physical strength to perform well. A society can use women to increase the current labor supply or it can wait two decades for women to raise offspring to fill those roles. Few would argue for choosing the latter option, particularly if competing against a country that is picking the former. What does a country care if women are miserable 50 years from now when they retire when there are five decades or productive work that can be squeezed from them?

Since it’s Halloween I’ve decided to watch and read to various horror stories I’ve been wanting to get to for years, and one of them was the Castlevania Netflix show, I finished season one becuase I heard it was the best of the seasons, and this is my reaction after finishing it: hcs8r7ebmbs31.png
It’s not THE worst thing I’ve ever seen but it’s pretty bad.

Please tell me you pirated it. Don’t give your money to the company that made Cuties.

The current genetic filtering won't be impacted by test tube babies, or artificial wombs. A baby is a baby, and a woman who is willing to put off children in her youth will have no desire to raise one in her dotage. We'd have to have the other aspect of Brave New World for the filtering to stop. Which was the government control and raising of offspring. Otherwise we'd maintain current conditions just with more infertile couples, and degenerates having children.

An entire Psych class at the University of Washington chases a guy for complaining about abject degeneracy being taught. I guess we're doing a Chinese communist revolution. I'm pretty sure the old hag in pleather is the teacher.

Edit: Oh. I didn't realize that somebody already posted about.
This shit makes unironically MATI. I know people that struggle with paying their student debts for a degree that matters. Then we have these stupid cunts with all the money in the world that pay to watch porn in a class together and the lady that teaches it unironically gets payed a 6 figure salary to do it.

And just remember, these kids' parents are paying for that. Do they even know what's going on on their kids' campus?
I'd be willing to bet many of the browns in that class are there on 'dem programsss' while the Whites are there on stoodent loans.
It is so vile seeing their mob, where tf is our mob?
