US ELECTION DAY (TRUMP VICTORY) - Every country has the government it deserves

So the colonies are picking a new govenor general or whatever they call them to replace the kenyan fellow they had last time.

The choice this year is between a ginger tax dodging democrat oaf and a reptoid dynastic politician up to her neck in lies and corruption. As ever the contest between red and blue has been riveting, with much grabbing of pussies and hiding of emails.

We have a thread charting the campaigns but the big day deserves its own thread.

Who are you voting for? Who will win?

How many kiwis will lose the rag and get banned?

Please clap

Ahh. I see. Here I am learning things tonight. Why did populist become such a bad word?

Because if you're an autocratic regime like both major parties, the proles getting their opinion recognized is both dangerous and destabilizing. Despite the culture war fodder they'll throw at you, there's been a bipartisan consensus on most issues that are ruining America. Populists threaten things like the near-constant war, the neoliberal economic policy, and the culture war bullshit both parties push as a method of differentiating each other.

Most Americans don't want us involved in every country's military defense. Most Americans don't want handouts to multinational corporations. Most Americans don't give a shit about transgender bathrooms and think the whole issue is overblown. This threatens the hegemony the 2 parties have set up for themselves and they reflexively block anyone who parrots popular opinions on those issues as "wingnuts".

This election, more than anything, was a referendum on that system and I sincerely hope there's reform in both parties to address bipartisan failures in order to garner future votes.

So the rednecks got their way.

I feel that's whose feet we will be holding to the fire if America in general doesn't get significantly better right the fuck away, alongside / because of those they voted for - most of whom are GOP, and therefore, not fit for making America Great Again - I only see America getting worse and worse under these guys, unless they aren't complete Bible Thumpers, Racists/Misogynists like SJWs love to label them, obvious enough corporate sponsors, or truly ANY of the ilk ruining America NOW. Regardless of what comes next, I just see no good in any of this, other than Hillary not getting her war with Russia or some shit people keep whining about on YT that she was so gonna cause...

In my opinion, If America gets better, it's because we didn't end up looking like the worst parts of the Middle East ourselves!

That's a fucking stupid way to view it. Rednecks are just a symptom of the problem that is shitty neolib policies. Surprise surprise people were willing to vote for someone the establishment hates during a cycle where the establishment had an unprecedented level of cheerleading for their choice.

Boiling this down to stupid Rednecks will just make you unable to predict this kind of shit in the future. Imagine the other complexly, lest you get burned for not doing so down the line. This isn't Tea Partiers 2.0, it's 2008 Obama 2.0.

I believe this is highly optimistic.

This was going to be a super low turnout election before Hillary told Republicans they were scum. They had no vested interest in Trump. The elephants wouldn't elect someone from the northeast under threat of pain, never mind a flashy dude from New York. Then she decides to rile up her opponent's base and holy shit, we've got a record turnout.

I don't think the DNC will learn shit. The stupid is coming from inside the party. They'll look at the breakdowns, look at the completely useless polls that lead to this and come away with the idea of running Lizzy Warren in four years. I like Liz. I've voted for her and will again if she runs. But the solution to a fucked up party isn't keeping the leadership and running a woman older than Hillary.

This party got a bloody nose tonight. It needs a severe beating.

We'll see. Warren lost a ton of credibility with progs this cycle and they can push her all they want but Berniecrats will remember her absence during the primary. Progressivism (not the same as regressive leftist politics) is only gaining speed as trickle-down continues to fail.

This isn't the time for politics as usual and I think Trump winning is going to be a wakeup call to the Democratic establishment. Simply put, if they DON'T reform at all prior to 2018 then we'll just see a deepening of Republican control of the congress, and Trump will likely be a two-term president.

Mark my words: if the DNC does not reform after this travesty of an election to court Bernie supporters, then we're likely to see a violent overthrow of the government in 12 years' time, pushed by both the extreme left and right against the current system. Neither is willing to tolerate bullshit the politics as usual that DC insiders keep trotting out.

How the fuck have Michigan and new Hampshire not finished reporting yet omg

SNIP
So yeah. A lot of people are fucked. But they were fucked to begin with. Trump's just speeding up something that's already been in motion for a long time. And in the long term there's a pretty decent chance that it's going to be a good thing because it'll force action on things that desperately need action but no one wants to do something about because it's too hard./.

And that's much more informative and plausible than everything I've heard before as to why he'd be terrible "bans mexicans and muslims :((((" and only that. While yeah his view on latinos is fucked and #NOTALLMUSLIMS but bruh, Orlando shooting, rapefugees, ISIS...Things have gotten scary with this issue in this year.

Holy shit. I had no clue. Yeah that's not the kind of kebab I want at all.

Well Germany seems to be enjoying it so far (at least Merkel is).

The "IM MOVING TO CANADA RIGHT NOW" people are funny in so many different ways.

Uprooting your life just to make a weak protest against THE MAN is just dumb.

Then there's the sheer childishness of it, often from people who claim they're super mature compared to icky Trump supporters. "If I don't get exactly what I want I'm just leaving!" And then nothing much happens to Trump. He just has one less opponent, who chose to flounce off like a kindergartener.

This isn't new though, I think it's the libtards' favorite tactic to do when things don't go their way. I remember when Romney was in elections and they spouted the same bullshit of Trump "he's totally down for oppressing women and pocs!!!", and they were all "we're moving to Canada if he wins"

Went out for lunch with my counsellor and had a short conversation about the election. Told her about all the Clinton scandals, she seemed pretty shocked as she didn't really follow the election.

Redpilling cute babes one at a time B^ )

the operative question, of course, is whether or not you grabbed her by the pussy.

Every single non-white male at my job freaks the hell out, especially all who act like people straight out of r/Blackpeopletwitter.

Not due to the results (half of them don't know WHO exactly is Trump except a crazy orange man), but because it could mean the same can happen in the country due to our election being in 6 months and one of the candidates being quite appealing to the alt-right.

The Democrats' strategy at the moment is probably "Wait and see how badly Trump fucks up."

They're probably thinking Trump is going to fuck up so badly the electorate will go for the Democrats again. And most likely, he will fuck up that badly, but that's no guarantee the electorate will go Democrat.

“Our movement is about replacing a failed and corrupt political establishment with a new government controlled by you the American people,” Trump says in his closing campaign advertisement, followed by flashing images of K Street, Wall Street, and Goldman Sachs Chief Executive Lloyd Blankfein.

But the Trump transition team is a who’s who of influence peddlers, including: energy adviser Michael Catanzaro, a lobbyist for Koch Industries and the Walt Disney Company; adviser Eric Ueland, a Senate Republican staffer who previously lobbied for Goldman Sachs; and Transition General Counsel William Palatucci, an attorney in New Jersey whose lobbying firm represents Aetna and Verizon. Rick Holt, Christine Ciccone, Rich Bagger, and Mike Ferguson are among the other corporate lobbyists helping to manage the transition effort.

Presidential transition teams develop policy plans and come up with a list of more than 4,000 people an incoming president appoints, including White House jobs, cabinet secretaries, and lower level positions that oversee the military, agriculture, trade, and beyond.

Trump for America Inc., a nonprofit group chaired by Gov. Chris Christie, R-N.J., to oversee the Trump transition, has quietly moved ahead, meeting with interest groups and reaching out to lobbyists to plan a future Trump administration.

The group has held regular meetings at the Washington, D.C., offices of Baker Hostetler, a law and lobbying firm.

On Thursday, the group hosted a breakfast at Baker Hostetler attended by Microsoft’s Ed Ingle and Steve Hart, two lobbyists who, accordingto filings, have worked to promote the Trans-Pacific Partnership. Other transition meetings have included briefings with the Financial Services Roundtable and the Investment Company Institute, two lobby groups that represent Wall Street interests, as well as with the BGR Group, a lobby firm that represents Saudi Arabia and the South Korean government.

Trump, of course, isn’t alone is relying on entrenched political insiders to shape his future administration. The Hillary Clinton transition team is led by Ken Salazar and Tom Donilon, two former Obama administration officials who now serve on the lobbying teams of major law firms. Though the Clinton campaign gained headlines for banning registered lobbyists from managing her transition, the distinction between registered and unregistered lobbying is largely a question of semantics.

Trump’s decision to embrace lobbyists while denouncing them on the campaign trail should come as no surprise to any seasoned observer.

The reality television mogul seized on distaste for big money politics as a potent campaign issue, denouncing the role of Super PACs during the Republican primaries. “I have disavowed all Super PACs,” Trump said, adding that he would oppose any support from lobbyists and other special interest groups. After shoring up the nomination, the candidate quickly reversed himself, not only raising cash from lobbyists but switching gears to aggressively embrace the the same Super PAC strategies used by more traditional candidates. Several Trump staffers moved from his campaign to Super PACs supporting the Trump-Pence ticket.

And that's why they'll fail. Trump winning and Bernie being one of the most popular politicians in the country is an obvious sign that they need to reform, but checks from Wells Fargo trumps anything a worker's union can put forward.

I'm a lifelong progressive, but the reasons the DNC is losing should be obvious to everyone who isn't a partisan Democrat. The DNC almost deliberately sabotages themselves because they're in love with corporate bowjobs.

Can I just say: I hated the idea of President Trump, but the people saying he's #notmypresident can go fuck themseleves. He won, we lost. Its time to move on. I would rather work with an egotistical fucker than set a precedent of massive salt and autism.
Right now, I'm worried about how the fuck am I going to afford to go to college sans loans, not to mention climate change reaching an event horizon.
I'm willing to listen to the man, as fucked as I think some of his policy plans are. There isn't a realistic alternative now, so we gotta try and make the most out of this
