Renée Fleming might be the leading soprano of America, if not the world, but her venture outside classical music have been unqualified failures. When singing pop, she has a "Miss Piggy" quality in her voice that I find very off-putting. She recorded a CD of pop-rock covers, Dark Hope, that I don't want to play twice because, apart from the awkward vocal styling, the lyrics she chose are mostly word salads.

Fleming wisely sticks to her soprano strong suit covering of two songs by Bjork, "Joga" and "Virus". Bjork has her share of word salad, but these two songs aren't. I just wish the orchestrator had taken more risks.

I've been scouring AI covers and this has been one of the standouts. It's really an odd combo but it works somehow.

Great idea but as usual it sounds more like Manuel than Hitler. AI seems really bad at modeling from voice samples that old, probably because of the lack of fidelity. Human listeners can get a grasp on what he actually sounded like from an imperfect recording, but AI is baffled.
