Actually I'm not. There are people out there that will screech like retards because a developer releases a DLC and didn't put it in the game at launch. Even if it's legitimate post release content they will still have an autistic bitch fit.I think you're just nitpicking what counts as DLC. If it's clearly extra content, everyone's okay with that.
It's not the DLC concept it's the developers and publishers abusing DLC to do shady shit. But the good thing about DLC just like with the expansions is most of time it's optional. The problem is how DLC ended up being used in many cases. It pretty much killed off those silly unlockables games used to have. That's not DLC's fault, though. That's the fault of publishers and developers.
Ok Boomer.Video games are shit. People who play video games are shit.
We're all essentially shit consuming shit complaining that the shit we're eating tastes like shit while we eat more shit, or regurgitate older shit to consume the shit again because "the old shit was better than this steaming new shit".

There are games that smaller and have less demanding system requirements. They are called indie games. At least most of them do. I don't think AAA or even AA will go back to making less demanding games. People expect a certain level of graphical eye candy in new games. It's why they bought that new expensive console or that new expensive PC hardware. Games have always gotten better graphically. It didn't ruin games back in the 90's. The switch over from 2D to 3D didn't ruin video games. If anything it made them more popular and better. Though those early 3D games can be pretty ugly.
I bought Boltgun the day it was released. I like Duke3D and Blood. Though I have more experience with Duke3D. I played a little of Boltgun and I enjoyed it. Though I tend to like retro throwback shooters as well. I have a bunch of them on Steam as well as classics like Quake and Doom. You can play old games as much as you want. You don't ever have to play anything new. No one is forcing you to play newer games. I have emulators and play SNES and Genesis games once in a while. But I don't want to spend my time sitting around playing Doom all day like some kind of autismo.
