For a cRPG that does levels well, I've been replaying Divinity: Original Sin 2. Big maps with enemies all over the place that do not scale to your level, so you are free to bash your head against guys who can one shot you and then go back to fight guys 3 levels weaker than you and gank them easily. Lets you feel overpowered and underpowered at the same time.
For an unpopular opinion, Larian (DOS2 and Baldurs Gate 3) are shit at stories. Spoilers for both if you care: DOS2 ends with the canonical good ending being the guys you've been fighting the whole game being a kind of lesser evil you're supposed to side with to fight a greater evil. Which is neat, except for the part where these lesser evil guys having literally committed genocide and they weaponize lobotomized innocents the entire game (as in, they mindblank them, then turn them into grotesque doglike attack hounds). Forgive me if I don't try and find a different solution than fantasy Hitler with worse fashion and more animal cruelty. In BG3, the guy who's protecting you from transforming into a mindflayer is an "akshually he's a good one" mindflayer who continually guilt trips and manipulates you (poorly) into doing what he wants. He will admit to brainwashing and raping his self-declared best friend; and will also try to seduce you in one of the weirdest scenes I've ever seen. This guy is supposed to be morally grey.
IDK, maybe its all too big-brained for me, but I really don't know why Larian keeps wanting me to sympathize with absolutely godawful people who aren't going to get better. Good sandboxes, but some retarded morals.
