I think whats next for big tech is making AI and data centers more efficient. Theres no way they can prevail from all the lawsuits, headwinds, political recalls, chip crunch and anger from the public, so they will be pressured into new computing methods that use less space and resources. The energy grid just can't keep up until nuclear gets rolling en masse.
Theres a big issue with Fable where the computing power is now a pay-as-you-go pyramid scheme and theres no way Anthropic is getting their money back with this. The pool of customers is just too small. For 80% of tasks, DeepSeek or lower models will work just fine. You don't need complex LLMs for summarizing work memos or powerpoints.
AI will become more egalitarian, but it won't be a calamity. People will start burning these centers down before that happens.
