4chan's Twin Peak General has gone fucking ballistic over the ending. This was the ultimate Lynching.
yup, it was amazing. I'm gonna miss /tpg/ when it eventually slows down, the hype after every episode was fun.

also what the fuck did I just watch? I still can't wrap my head around it. I can't decide if Cooper majorly fucked up by removing Laura from her future, if he actually knew what he was doing, if it all didn't matter in the end and the scene with him whispering something in his ear is meant to imply he can't change the past nor the future or if it's incredibly meta commentary about us, the viewers. Maybe it's a combination of it all. After it was done, I was reminded of Lynch's commentary that the reason he went into filmmaking was to bring his paintings to life and perhaps like everyone interpets a painting differently, we are all encouraged to have our own theories over what it all meant.

I loved it though, espeacially the very ending. Complete mindfuck.

Will kino be back on the menu, boys?
Twin Peaks Season 4 Rumors Explained

ors are circulating that Twin Peaks might be coming back for season 4. The magnum opus of David Lynch, Twin Peaks started its run in 1990, before being cancelled after just two seasons. A TV movie, Fire Walk With Me, followed in 1992, before Lynch was finally able to revisit the show and continue its story in 2017 with Showtime's Twin Peaks: The Return.

Building on the cliffhanger ending of the original run, Twin Peaks season 3 was a mesmerizing and oft-bewildering return to the titular town, at once familiar and yet completely different. Over the course of 18 episodes, Lynch led viewers on an unpredictable journey that eventually culminated in what seemed like a true ending for Twin Peaks. Or rather, two true endings. "Part 17" delivered a neat, fan-pleasing conclusion to Twin Peaks, and then Lynch unraveled everything, delivering a more ambiguous climax that took more twists and seemingly undid the very incident that launched the show in the first place: Laura Palmer's death.

Ending on a scream that'll never be forgotten, Twin Peaks season 3's finale suggested an ongoing fate for Cooper and Laura: the latter would always need saving, but the former would always be there to do it. For sure, though, it was very much an ending, and a perfect one for the show, which makes rumors of a fourth season more surprising. Although unsubstantiated right now, speculation has been gathering pace online recently, starting with a tweet from the Hollywood Horror Museum, which read: "Someone we know who is "in the know" just let something Very Interesting slip about the future of TWIN PEAKS If it's true, we'll be squealing and giddy in 2020!" Follow-up tweets from the account went on to provide clarification, including affirming they have good sources and that "the people in charge are preparing for something big in 2020."

Since then, the rumors have only grown, including further reports of Twin Peaks season 4. Actors involved in the series have seemingly got in on the act too. Star Kyle MacLachlan tweeted that he's "thinking about...donuts this morning", which at least feels like a nod to Twin Peaks, while Michael Horse (Deputy Hawk) posted a photo from the series on Instagram, which included a hint at a secret being kept. It's far from concrete, but when it comes to Twin Peaks, it doesn't need too much to spark excitement, especially when fans had to wait over two decades for the show to come back the first time around.

Lynch himself has contributed, sort of. Last month, before these rumors started, he tweeted about how he loved shooting in King County, where Twin Peaks was filmed. The filmmaker has blown hot and cold on the idea of more Twin Peaks over the past couple of years. In 2017, shortly after The Return ended, he said that he's learned to "never say never" about more Twin Peaks. Last year he gave a clearer sign, stating that continuing Twin Peaks' story was "calling" to him. However, he's also said that The Return was the ending. That is true, but it is open enough that Lynch could continue things in a number of ways, perhaps with the story of Richard and Carrie rather than Dale and Laura, and he deserves to be trusted either way.

Twin Peaks: The Return wasn't a major hit for Showtime in terms of ratings, but the network have intimated that they'd be open to more, which puts the ball in Lynch's court. Right now, it's all very mysterious, which is presumably how Lynch wants it. If he is indeed looking to make Twin Peaks season 4, then you'd imagine the cast and Showtime would both say yes, but they're rumors best taken with a pinch of salt and washed down with a damn fine cup of coffee right now. Is it happening again? Maybe.

Man I hope they nullify those novels that Mark Frost wrote. The Secret History of Twin Peaks had some interesting tidbits but the Final Dossier was absolute dogshit

Oh God PLEASE!!!

Feel bad saying it as a big fan, but I never read any of them.

I think it's safe to say Twin Peaks is Frost plus Lynch. Frost alone can't do it right, clearly, and even Lynch by himself can't really do it justice. (I love Fire Walk With Me, but it's missing a lot of what makes TP so... TP.)

I still need to watch season 3. Been rewatching the show with my friend after introducing it to her so seems like as good a time as any to check it out. Was kinda worried for a bit that it would follow the recent trend of inserting woke shit into the show, but I don't think Lynch is the kind of guy who would do that.

Season 3 was amazing. The nuclear bomb episode is one of the greatest pieces of surrealist tv i've ever seen. I still see the 'Got a light?' Guy in my dreams.

The finale was truly one of best middle fingers to the fandom ever done. The fandom got what they wanted and in so doing they missed the points Lynch was trying to make.

It did suffer for not having Frost, however. I really did miss the small scale drama and the light comedy and world building that Frost excels at, but luckily we didn't have any of the soap opera excesses of Frost at his worst.

I actually just randomly began watching Twin Peaks a few weeks ago. Its really fantastic. My only real Lynch experience was with Eraserhead, and I was not that into it.

I may check out Muholland Drive.

Does anyone know where to find season 3 of twin peaks to stream? I am not sure if I want to shell out the money to buy it on amazon.

It's on Hulu, apparently.

But you have to watch the movie Fire Walk With Me before season 3 (Seasons 1 and 2 -> FWWM -> The Return/Season 3). The movie is on HBO Max to stream.

And definitely check out Mulholland Drive. And, really, all of his films.

I started watching thi series. I wanted to know just why thi series wa so influential.

The way they depicted and treated both murder and rape alone puts thi series above SO many others. There is no cheap drama; the series actually takes great pains in showing just how murder and rape affect others.
I am up to episode 3 of season 1.
I actually laughed out loud when Agent Cooper's 'break the bottle' technique went wrong: his rock hit a rubbish bin instead when he wondered if the mentally disabled kid was a target. Then there is his rock hitting Andy when he wondered if another woman was the target.

Episode 2 made this comic feel very uncomfortable, though.

I just finished episode 9 of season 2, I really don't know why I stopped at season 1, this is truly one of the greatest shows I have ever seen.

Leland's death at the end was one of the best pieces of acting I have seen in a while. Lynch just put so much into this show, and if anyone else had done it, this truly would of been just another show in the "put on in the background" category."]

Season 2 slightly falls off at one point. I think the rumor is that Lynch left to work on a movie, and things kind of go off the rails. Still fun television, but imo a noticeable drop in quality. Then Lynch comes back and undoes a whole bunch of stuff a few episodes from the end. I think the network was pushing to "solve" the murder of Laura even though that was never really the intention. Windom Earle is a fun character though.

And yes,
Leland's death is one of the most memorable scenes in all 3 seasons.

OOOOOOH mares eat oats and does eat oats and little lambs eat ivy
A kid'll eat ivy too wouldn't youououououououo

Very late to the game here, I just watched Season 1 and prepping to watch the 2nd Season. (Note, I thought this only got one season and was slow rolling through it.) More than likely going to enjoy season 2. I also got Fire Walk With Me in line after that. Is Season 3 worth investing space into?

I think it depends on how you feel about Fire Walk With Me, and David Lynch when he's not subject to an editor. I've loved (and obsessed over) every iteration, but the series is distinct (tonally, thematically) from the film and revival.

It's really love or hate. I loved it, a WHOLE lot, and I think the average TP fan's reception was positive, but I feel I should warn you it might fill you with disappointment and/or rage.

I really didn't like FWWM the first time I watched it, but it was almost a different movie on second viewing. Unique phenomenon.
