All the television shows I watch today are guilty pleasures, because I have such a disdain for modern television today, but that's not for this discussion. So I always watch retro television shows such as Family Ties, Super Password, $25,000 Pyramid and the other classic game shows on Game Show Network, I still enjoy South Park sometimes, but not Family Guy anymore. American Dad is okay since it still tries to appeal to the right-minded people.

I also can't end my watching of Tokusatsu; Power Rangers and Super Sentai and the like. I recently rediscovered the 1995 One-shot "Masked Rider" which was based on Kamen Rider Black RX. It's.... really fun to watch if you're into watching poorly adapted Ameri-toku. I also love VR Troopers, you can see every single one of the Japanese human characters in Grimlords dungeon, there are four of them in total.

Going back to the sitcoms though, my most recent favorite that I fell in love with was Step by Step. I loved the whole premise when the Hub network picked it up (yeah, I was too young to watch it back in the day) and I fell in love with everyone, especially Dana. She's so misunderstood, which is why she acts like a bitch so much.
 
Masked Rider? Heck yes! I loved that too, I kinda wish the mythos would be expanded on a little more, but I love it nonetheless despite the annoying proto-furby. Infact, I also have a soft spot for another Super Human Syber Squad, it's another mediocre Toku adaptation, but I love mainly because of Tim Curry voicing the main villain, with him being my favorite actor and all, I kinda had to watch it. It was a cheesy cyberpunk kid's show, but it was still sort of amusing nonetheless.
 
My favorite Power Rangers series is Jungle Fury. I knew it was my favorite when I was noticing all the faults it had (some serious pacing issues, stuff not properly explained, too much sentai footage) and yet, I didn't care. In spite of those faults, many of which I blast Megaforce for, I was having fun watching the series.

Jungle Fury itself has a love it or hate it reputation with the fans. Being part of the Kalish era and with fan favorite RPM on it's heels, some people don't give it much of a chance.
 
Family Guy.

Nothing against those here who like Family Guy. It's just that I don't want to be one of those people who are endlessly spouting Family Guy quotes.

FG is interesting in that it's one Adult Swim show whose humor I can actually take. I like the satirical side of Family Guy when they're making fun of TV shows and movies (the Star Wars 'Blue Harvest' episodes - at least the first two - were really well made), but some of the more "modern" humor (the "meta" stuff, some of the self-referencing, the obvious attempts at creating internet memes, etc) can be pretty annoying.

I share TrippinKahlua's disdain for most TV nowadays, save for a handful of news/politics talk shows and Big Bang Theory.
 
I can't even watch the news at all anymore. It got so sickening to hear these peoples monotone voice coming only from a teleprompter and not their own damn brain. Talk shows are another thing. I took in too much Maury Povich that I never want to hear "I AM 1000000% HE MAA BABEES DADDI!" again. Never.

I kinda stopped watching Power Rangers as a child right before In Space ended. One week in 1998, the closest Fox affiliate I can pick up dropped the Fox Kids block. So anything from the Post-Zordon era I've never really seen. Recently, however, I've seen through Lost Galaxy and Lightspeed Rescue. They were pretty good! Lost Galaxy, in my opinion, was excellent in story telling and all the villains were great. Lightspeed was okay but didn't match Lost Galaxy's standard I developed for myself. It took a few more episodes for me to get used to these new guys, but I really grew to love Kelsey, and Joel & Ms. Fairweather's whole thing. The thing with Chad falling in love with a Mermaid was great too. The villains of Lightspeed however, were just great. Monsters based off of demons are sweet, and Queen Bansheera was one of the most threatening looking villains out there.

Lost Galaxy... I think I'll appreciate it more as an adult, but as a kid I found it a little boring. Lightspeed though, I loved that. It was my favorite season when I stopped watching as a kid (during Ninja Storm), although the season that follows (Time Force) is in many ways better. Lightspeed is on my rewatch list as soon as I finish the Disney seasons I missed.
 
I really don't think I can... give Time Force a fair shot. I'm a big fan of Tokusatstu monster design, and Timeranger really had a bad design theme here. The Americanization messed things up further by demoting the main leader to a comic relief.

But oh my Lord Jen... :heart-full: she's the best written Ranger ever.
 
Well, one of them. Just wait until Dino Thunder, Tommy isn't the main reason to watch that gem.

Lately I've been into Supernatural as my Gravity Falls substitute (Twin Peaks didn't work so well. Maybe if I had it on DVD with a day to myself). I really, really don't want to get involved with that fandom.

Oh yeah, in the next sentai, the blue ranger is gorilla themed and goes berserk when he overheats. Note the casting pattern then consider the implications. Between that, the sexist undertones (I'm not alone in calling Megaforce sexist anymore! But in all srsns, Saban Brands suck and as a self-proclaimed fanboy of the original Saban, my heart weeps knowing Power Rangers and Digimon are in their hands. And now it seems they have the rights to adapt one of the recent Kamen Riders and Pretty Cure. My hopes arn't very high.

Good news then. Saban Brands NEVER got the rights to Kamen Rider. They copyrighted the name Power Rider, thinking they would, but Toei said no. Copyright expired a few months ago and was not renewed.

It's kinda like how, before the Disney Takeover, Saban had a copyright for Power Rangers Babies.
 
The real reason they're skipping Go-Busters is probably because of how limited the toyline is. There's what, 7 zords and 5 rangers (three of which have an upgraded form). That's about it. It didn't have a gimmick like modern Sentai and Riders do, which kids have come to expect. Sales weren't good in Japan and Bandai of America probably just wants to get to the Kyoryuger toys (aka, the best selling toys since 2001's Gaoranger).

Granted, my money is if Saban Brands could have skipped anything, it would have been Gokaiger.

Gokaiger has fairly good merchendicing potential. Granted BoA could release the aniversary 4-inch figures at any time, but it makes sence to do so while these characters are appearing on screen.

Gokaiger also has a lot of unusable footage (with all the unadapted sentai, but that hasn't stopped them). Also, SabanBrands doesn't like the Pirate theme (based on contacts during production , SB was not keen on the idea of rangers looting and plundering) with the designs being an elephant in the room this season and the idea of pirates going against the values they want PR to represent (for record, there is a section on the official website detailing what it's supposed to teach).

Goseiger was bland enough to make into anything, it had the original colors and an environmental angle. Plus, they could end it with the Legend War like 199 heroes. Seems like it would have been a better choice to me.
 
I'm a little upset they aren't using the Pre-Zyuranger teams, but they are fine with using Dairanger. I guess it all has to do with what the Space Pirates did, however.

They get rid of Goranger from the primere, then Dairanger shows up with no name. We get a 2 second flash of Turboranger before they superimpose Wild Force over top for the Gaoranger tribute, then Pink Flash and Yellow Mask appeared last week along with Ryuranger. No names given, not even "Powers never before seen on this planet" spiel they did with Dairanger. Then this week, they did the Gekiranger tribute but got rid of Sun Vulcan.

There's been a good bit of confusion and sperging over this issue. Why some teams and not others? Personally, I'm "no non-adapted" myself, but at least give them a name if you're going to use them. I want Flashman keys.

I stopped watching a few weeks ago, but after talking to a friend I'm giving it one last shot because the writing has supposedly been competent these last few weeks. Like, average for any good season but good for Megaforce. That and there's no new episode next week, and the summer hiatus starts after 3 weeks.
 
Oh... there ARE Pre-Zyu Rangers here? Funny, I really remember reading on Rangercrew that wasn't the case. Especially with there only being 20 episodes of Super Megaforce, it made sense.

I actually haven't seen any episodes of Super Megaforce since the beginning, I'm really too old to be watching newer Power Rangers shows meant for todays 10 year olds. I liked it though, my first impressions of Gosei and Tensou were perfect ones. Gosei really captured Zordon's whole feel and he really seemed worthy as his successor. Tensou may need a few episodes for me to get used to him.

I'll likely watch the whole thing once it gets on Netflix.

People were also told they weren't using Dairanger and everytime he showed up in promo's was a mistake.

Yeah, I liked the primere, but the quality dropped soon after that. Megaforce has largely been "baby's first Power Rangers." I think it's because Day of the Dumpster, which Mega Mission played homage too, was aimed at a slightly older demographic than Megaforce.

Honestly, I'm looking for Masked Rider online because I think Megaforce desensitized me to bad American toku. Watched Samurai only after seeing Megaforce and I don't see why people think Megaforce was a step up. If anything it feels more like a step down.

All praise Gosei's non-existent ass and the wonders pulled out of it.
