Fair enough, I stay very far away from any kind of con but I could envision them being about the same. Channel Awesome really didn’t attract the most physically gifted of people as their audience, that’s for sure.
That's really the same for just about every con. Although the fans aren't all necessarily like that. However you do have to ask yourself what sort of people would have the time to travel to a convention just for the opportunity to look at someone in person, and you'll have your answer. Channel Awesome, anime, tabletop gaming, scifi conventions, it's all the same shit with a different theme slapped on top of it.

Can't speak for the Ultima videos specifically, but in his 3DO/Saturn RPG retrospectives he did play the games he reviewed, because he mentions going back to finish the ones he liked after completing the video.
