P4 revival art direction looking rough buddy. It's like they powerwashed the entire town clean.

Almost 20 years later and they can't beat Playstayion 2 fog.
P4 (2008) was only ever suppose on run on CRTs so the dingy, muffled. and soft lightning isn't an aesthetic choice its what the game looks like on lower resolutions its why when they blew up the same assets in Golden for the Vita and everything cleared up it looked completely different. P4R actually looks like an overcast day.
It's not just the soul vs. soulless argument, but the griminess was part of the point in the original's art design. The town isn't even a tourist destination, it should look lived in and dusty rather than spotless and shiny.

It's like the zoomer meme of living in an "old style USA town" where they have easy service jobs, a local pot shop and everybody loves outsiders and faggots.
The Nips on twitter are saying that they got the atmosphere dead on with P4R. For some odd reason people seem to think Inaba is like Silent Hill where its nothing but fog 24/7 and everything is run down when it actually the town is just plain which is what everyone complains about in story about how boring it is to live there.

Nips on twitter
Nips are the biggest pigs for literal slop of any consumer base. Just because the franchise is japanese doesn't mean jap gamers won't completely ignore aesthetic decisions over gacha gambling and fan service. The Resident Evil 4 remake phenomenon wasn't an exclusively western issue.

The west is literal where the term originated from because that's what everyone over there consumes. I'd honestly take the opinions of who the games are suppose to cater to than those who never actually played the game and just the post the same "soul vs soulless" screenshots because they hate everything past 6th gen.

The west is where the term originated because slop is an English word buddy
The term as its used for American consumerism so how can Japan be considered the biggest pigs when they're not even the originator of the term? Just say you don't value their opinion don't make up a justification for it,

Nah dude, if anything Westerners inventing a term means that they can actually differentiate between slop and non-slop and want better. If you look at the threads here on virtually every Jap IP you see that quality has plummeted to the bottom of the barrel yet the better companies are still profiting.

There is some truth in this for the first image but every other environment/building looks cheap and way too clean for a "town in the boonies" like Inaba. I do hope that when it IS foggy out they bring it in but seeing how they do everything else, my hopes aren't very high. It's a shame because they really could use the new technology to really ham up the weather, an important mechanic in P4, but almost nothing suggests that it'll be something that ATLUS will be focusing on.

I'm still annoyed about how plain the weather indicator is in the images provided. Modern ATLUS is all about UI except for this instance.

Except they're still producing slop and there's basically a term specifically for those who consoom it all derived from the west

You can literally say the same about the west, this board is mostly about shitting on the western games industry as a whole.

The stuff that's thriving is because they're catering to a specific type of consoomer not because they're making better products.

To be fair some of the screenshots are from different times of day also apparently from different builds of the game. Not denying that Atlus wont fuck up because its Atlus its what they do but some of the comparisons are flat out retarded due to everyone hating P3R's art direction and the P5fication of everything nowadays.

The Resident Evil 4 remake phenomenon wasn't an exclusively western issue.
The difference was that RE4 was already an exceedingly well polished game so people could clearly see that the remake was Capcom's attempt to modernize it to the current feel of the franchise for the zoomies who need yellow paint and parry mechanics. P4 was largely an asset flip of P3 that was graphically way behind on everything that was being currently released at the time so it largely got by on vibes so if you try to make a similar case for it you just look like a retard who wants everything to look exactly like a game that was dated the time of its release.

And japs coined kusoge which must mean that only japan makes shitty games. I'm not sure if you're willfully retarded or if this comes naturally.
Are you that much of a dipshit to say that bad video games did not exist before Japan coined the term for it? This is all because I pointed out that the people who they game was made for said they got the aesthetics down over some retards posting comparison screenshots.

Graphical quality isn't the same as artistic direction, which is what the conversation was about. The remake, much like P3R, looks sterile and clean when the original games had intention placed in the imperfections. Stains on the school walls weren't because the game was old, it's because the developers wanted to convey that the building was old and slightly neglected. The color grading is the same, P3 was very somber in its colors, the remake blew it the fuck out with saturation and white lighting. P4 is looking the same way, the warm coloring has been replaced with bright white lights. Again, not a graphical quality problem, but one of artistic direction.

Breakfast question failure

You're talking about vibes retard not to mention that art is the most subjective thing imaginable when it comes to discussion.

Again you're just making shit up

Again what stains? Did you actually play P4 on the PS2 or did you look at an old screenshot and called it a day? This is the same stance that retards used for Silent Hill when clear aspects used to mask hardware limitations is considered "artistic" by psuedos.

P4 is looking the same way, the warm coloring has been replaced with bright white lights.
This was literally all in Golden btw and it had nothing to do with change in art direction it was because of hardware.

Breakfast question failure
So you really are retarded.

Artistic intent, sure, but arguing artistic direction is subjective would be like saying Persona 5 isn't red.
Again you're just making shit up
>the old and dusty building has old and dusty looking textures
Must've been a coincidence

The ones in the textures, placed by the developers and that are present in every release aside from the P4R screenshots. Textures, btw, are not as subject to hardware limitations the way PS2 fog is, hope this helps!

Yeah Golden looked like shit because it couldn't maintain the haze (which affected the color), nobody says its a visually faithful port.
So you really are retarded.
You wouldn't get it.

The difference is that I can clearly see the motifs of P5 main color being red everything outside of that is basically headcanon

Are those textures here with us right now? Where are the stains and the old aesthetics? Just looks like a regular school building.

Actually they are hence why theyre always hard to detail and why graphical fidelity didn't always display what was intended so they had to work around it. P4 was composed of mainly asset flips from P3 because they were made on the same engine so its pretty fucking obvious where the masking begins and ends unless you're a...I'm repeating myself.

Golden was faithful people just use that one screenshot to shitpost it but it was largely just an import of the PS2 game on better hardware. The reality is that the abundance of haze didn't make sense on the PS2 version which makes all the comparison shots look retarded in retrospect. Also where are those stains?
You wouldn't get it.
Thanks for clarifying that shitty games didn't exist until Japan coined the term.

you gotta get your eyes checked and/or stop posting like a retard

Sorry for the Gacha slop but here's some bad news.

As far as I know the entire Japanese persona Twitter is on flames right now because of this (and personally I have a problem with it even if I will never play this game, it still puts an extremely bad taste in my mouth and it's not just about the shitstorm). I have never seen something this retarded out of Puzzle and Dragons and this was like a decade ago.

For context for P5X's 1st anniversary they introduced Hatsune Miku into the game (clearly a SEGA move and not Black Wings). But here's the problem. The Miku in this game is a navigator unit that powercreeps three of the gacha navigators in this game (unless if she does worse than any of the three individually but works as a utility unit). To make things worse, one of the characters affected was a fan favorite original with a surprisingly well written subplot and was only around for a month in the Japanese server (it's the suicide girl in the prologue before you enter Mementos for the first time by the way, she's an actual Social Link/Synergy. If you know, you know).

It's not as much of an issue in China because Ange, Oracle and Fuuka were around for a year.

Long story short the timing for Miku in Global is absolutely retarded, the Japanese are understandably pissed off, and Global gets shafted bad unlike in China again.

Gacha powercreep complaints are constant and they will bitch and then return to do their dailies like good little pigs, it ends up not mattering since in a few months there will be a better character. The argument seems to be more on the fans wanting an actual franchise character rather than a collab, but who gives a shit when any "lore" from the gacha dies with EOS announcement.

I'd say the west is still in a better position due to existence of AA and indies picking up the slack. But you need to live under a rock to say that the situation of Japanese RPGs isn't complete shit. The only company that does mildly good games is Falcom and that's solely because they moved to remake their old titles.

Most of them aren't powercreeping stuff in a fucking month. The Miku release made sense in China but not in global.

But who gives a shit when any "lore" from the gacha dies with EOS announcement.
Nikke and Limbus have actual lores, and so is this one. I can't see those going EOS anytime soon in this foreseeable decade and I believe this is the case here either.

They have a SMT gacha game that's apparently still running by the way even if I had never heard about it for years.
