Hey Fashion Girlies hey (and guys who appreciate a well-made garment)
With the 2026 MET Gala only days away, I decided to make a space for us to talk about it! When posting a look, please be mindful and include the designer, theme, year, and celebrity pictured wearing said outfit. Although the 2026 theme is Costume Art, previous year’s looks and themes can be discussed here as well.

at the pre-MET Gala party, Nina Dobrev wore this atrocious Gabriela Hearst SS26 piece. I hate it so much, you know a piece is bad when it looks horrendous on both a pretty actress and the runway model. Sheer dresses were boundary pushing in the 70s when Bob Mackey was dressing Cher. It’s 2026, this is bland now. The weird orange boob circles aren’t daring, just tacky and unflattering. I can’t even really compliment the construction, ugly seams and weirdly fitting. It’s not innovative, not attractive, and I don’t think there’s a single appropriate venue for it. 2/10 because the basque waist on the skirt is okay. Good news is that any looks we see tomorrow are almost guaranteed to be better than this one

You could literally put a censor bar over the orange boobs and make it make more sense.
It is so fucking ugly. Like the orange trim at the waist COULD have been complemented at the neckline.
Orange trim at the neck, waist, and wrists. make the mesh pop out.
Agreed at 2 or below.

Here's some thoughts about some of these outfits

Balenciaga on Rihanna.
Balenciaga is such fucking oversized garbage anyway. Fashion is not just PURSE but OVERSIZED.

I think for a costume, and not a meet and greet/sit down outfit, this is pretty fucking cool. I shudder to think this outfit sitting trying to watch a movie premiere.

I like Janelle Monae. Unironically, her music, her acting, her taste. I like that she has kept a consistent theme of Black and White no matter the year. She has a classical face structure and her make up is always so tasteful. Sorry i gush, I just think she is so FINE.

This is not fine.
:( I like Pascal in Mandolorian, and some other stuff I can't think of. But when someone tries to *push boundaries* this is not it. This is exactly what I think when "Hollywood dude comes out of the closet."
The flasher trenchcoat, the spandex skinsuit, the 70's porno stache? bro please. Try to seem less gay.

Upon closer inspection, the way the fishnet lays over the waist trim makes it look even more unfinished. It’s a rare piece that gets worse the longer you look.

Controversial take, but I don’t understand why Rihanna is often referred to as a fashion icon. Her looks are usually middle of the road at best and I don’t find her exciting. She’s a beautiful girl and a successful businesswoman, but all of the Rihanna glazing I see online feels like a psyop

Going through all of these, she doesn’t ever really “miss” but when comparing her to other looks each year I wouldn’t really rank her in the top

I think they all look stupid. Am I just a hater, or are you just giving this attention because of boredom?
This is a fashion thread for the MET gala. So we’re talking about fashion at the MET gala. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea but no one is forcing you to hang out here. I don’t care for sports so I don’t hang out in those spaces but I know a lot of men watch football and get into it. I like to see what creations designers make for a museum’s charity event.

This year there seems to be a running theme of anatomical pieces, especially hands.

All the hands - it loses impact when repeated so many times. Christie's hair is awful, and that dress is giving bordello. Agree on the prior posts' Mugler and Gauthier, especially the Mugler.

The best hands look so far is probably Sabine Getty’s. It’s like a less impressive version of Tyla’s sand dress from Balmain 2 years ago (Garden of Time theme)

Janelle Monáe looking amazing as always in Christian Siriano. I honestly love this so much. I’m reading it as a take on art in the digital age.
