knifeman took a hostage at Bullyaninnie Station, next door to the Murrays, in July 2009
It is not known at what stage the Murrays became aware of the incident, and their relationship with the hostage cannot be revealed for legal reasons.
Jess would have been a young woman at the time, the news no doubt shattering her sheltered life on their remote farm.
Josie, having recently transitioned and wanting nothing more than privacy, was left to support her wife Shannon, who had lived on the station all her life and knew the woman well.
Understandably, they were traumatised by the unspeakable crime - but Josie became especially distressed by the intense public interest and media coverage.

According to a random on this message board...

... the hostage was Shannon Murray's aunt.

There was a snippet deleted from websleuths:

Edit: Joy Betty and Clair Pfeiffer are sisters, or were, and Clair died in 1988. Clair was Shannon's mother, so Clair would have been Gus' ...

The quoted bit shows up in the google search result summary, but google doesn't provide cached versions of a page anymore.

Anyway, all that was to say...

The old aunt next door had 16 guns in her safe.

I wonder if she had a feeling about her niece's transvestite husband.

She's apparently in a nursing home now. I bet that was her silencer.

This is like the bad endinng to Tenacious Unicorn Ranch

Gosh that poor boy. I pray tranpa faces justice.

A cadaver dog, a police helicopter, and Taskforce Horizon detectives converged on Bullyaninnie Station near Oodla Wirra in the South Australian Outback on February 16.
The new search effort focused on an outhouse, an area of freshly poured concrete, and a ditch filled with abandoned cars.
It can now be revealed Gus's grandparents, Shannon and Josie Murray, oversee that station as well as their own neighbouring Oak Park Station near Yunta, where the four-year-old vanished on the evening of September 27.

Earlier on the Websleuths Gus thread there was a photo posted of Tranpa 20 years ago as a strapping fella.
Someone replied commenting on how handsome he was, then the next post was screeching about transphobia and called for intervention of mummy mods.
Just checked and it's all gone, they deleted all 3 posts. They can't possibly have reality sneak in and remind people that "Josie" is a big giant man in a frock.
I regret not screenshotting the pic, this is my karma for ragging on someone earlier today for not archiving.

ngl Websleuths users sound like a bunch of insufferable cunts. I guess a bunch of fat middle-aged women flicking their beans over grisly true crime stories do be like that.

Its not enough to actively follow tranny delusions.
You must actively avoid complementing their "dead selves" now.

FWIY Ellen Page was hot when I was like 16-18.

Every few years when a local-to-me crime drops on websleuths, I try to pop on and drop a bunch of quality well-sourced information. It always gets deleted for stupid reasons. "We don't sleuth family members."

Well, Linda, the meth head boyfriend isn't married to the mom of the two kids we all know he desposed of. So he's not "family" of the victims at all, actually. (Sidebar: Any kiwis following Jack & Lilly Sullivan case?)

If I wanted to wait for official news to be published, I wouldn't be here on your message board looking to exchange gossip. What's the point of the site, if you aren't allowed to sleuth family members? Most of the time, murder happens at the hands of family members.

There were a few posts about Bullyaninnie Station in the thread about Gus Lamont, but they got deleted for "not being relevant to the crime". And people warned not to discuss it any more. But it turned out to be relevant and accurate. The adjacent property IS in the family. And is now a site of police investigation.

Sounds like the same as any place on the internet. Mods let the little power they have go to their heads and need to flaunt it whenever they can, so they ban anything that isn't exactly in line with what they themselves have been theorising. Many such cases, etc.

It's both because only utter losers would put up with that kind of moderation.

Well I was banned. Pretty much everyone you see pushing back gets banned now. Threads are tightly moderated so if you see people speaking freely in them theyll be banned by the time the mod comes on and the thread gets edited. A lot of new people would have been attracted to the site due to this case.

I get it’s funny to speculate that he is a mass murderer and that’s why he had a silencer but he probably just wanted to protect his ears. Just because they’re illegal doesn’t mean they don’t have innocuous uses. The comments about cops using it as a good justification to take his guns away was pretty astute - no doubt they are happy to avoid what’s happened in Queensland, Tasmania, and now Victoria in the last couple years.

Mods are so ban happy. Three years ago I responded to somebody who said that all anti-Zionism was advocating violence with something like “well BDS could work as a non-violent method”. I got a lifetime ban from the r/australia subreddit.

I hate to say it, but I've found Facebook groups set up for individual cases to be a lot better than websleuths. I can usually find at least one for whatever case I'm following that has a mod who's pretty relaxed about what people say. I prefer groups where people can come up with whatever theory no matter how dumb. People local to the case or who know someone involved also seem to comment in the Facebook groups pretty often.

Gus Lamont parents appeal for information

The parents of four-year-old Gus Lamont, who disappeared from Oak Valley Station on 27 September 2025, have appealed for public assistance as police investigations continue.

Gus’s parents have also released video and another photograph of him to assist the investigation.

Task Force Horizon investigations are continuing.

"We are united in our grief, and we are united in our search for answers about what happened to our little boy, Gus, who means everything to us. Our lives have been shattered, and every moment without him is unbearable. We know someone out there may have information. If someone knows what happened, we are pleading with that person—or anyone who may have seen or heard anything—to please come forward. Even the smallest detail could give us the answers we so desperately need.

“We also want to express our deepest gratitude to everyone involved in the search for Gus. The tireless efforts of police, emergency services, ADF personnel, volunteers, and specialists have meant more to us than we can ever say. To the friends, family and supporters who have shown such compassion, concern, and assistance during this heartbreaking time: thank you. Your kindness has helped carry us through the darkest days of our lives.

“All we want is to bring Gus home and understand what happened to our beautiful boy”.

Josh and Jess

I'm not sure what Gus's parents expect from this public appeal for information, but I suppose they had to do something. Why it took so long is anyone's guess.

Última edición:
He was such a little cutie.

I can't help but notice how feminine he comes across in the video with his long golden curls. That look would absolutely have an appeal to any number of deviants.

How have they not found the kid yet?
Do you know how big a typical Australian sheep station is? Oak Park Station is reportedly 470 square km (around 180 square miles in Freedom Units), which is a relatively small for an outback Australian sheep station.

By comparison, that's just over half the size of the nearest major city, being Adelaide. The total Adelaide metropolitan area is around 870 square km, with a population of 1.4 million people and a couple hundred thousand pajeets.

When you factor in the other station next door to Oak Park which is owned by a relative, plus the Pualco Range Conservation Park (though that's tiny at just 87 square km), assuming that his body wasn't taken elsewhere, it's very possible that Gus's remains will never be found.

I fully believe statement is to protect tranpa. I'm no expert in legal statements, but to state firmly the family unit is united and that they're all upset together caught my attention. United is just too specific to not be intentionally merging the one dude everyone is singling out and suspicious of with the family unit again.
I could be wrong, but this wording doesn't fit normal statements I've come across. It feels like the focus is on being united over the actual tragedy of the child.

ETA: also I think the new photo is to not have what looks like a poster for signs of FAS as his main photo. It's also better for showing his personality at least. Poor boy, he was really cute.
