The issue of how Digital Circus is inappropriate for kids goes back to the decade old issue of censorship and how because parents got mad that media was corrupting the youth or whatever, a lot of media was considered bad and evil. Just like all the mistakes the human race has made, we overcorrected it and now we run into a different problem. Creators do whatever they want with no consideration for how it would affect their audience.
I'm all for creators being able to do shit without censorship. All of us here have a right to criticize and ridicule it, but if Goose wants to stuff his show with all the fetishes, sex, and gender allegories he wants, then fine, he has that right as a creator.
The issue is that while Goose makes his suicidal pre-trans self insert, there was no attempt on Glitch's end to limit, or at the very least, warn their audiences about the fact that Digital Circus is NOT safe for all ages. As a web series, Digital Circus, outside of the movie doesn't have an age rating. Its also not walled behind that "Content is inappropriate, sign in to view" thing that Youtube has. Any unsupervised child can see Zooble talking about how she wants to have sex. The parents are partially to blame for not supervising their kids, but Glitch themselves should've made some kind of effort on their end. Something as simple as a warning at the start of each episode about how "The following media is meant for a mature audience" small as it is, can make a difference.
You know why the big companies push censorship so much? Its so the piece of media becomes accessible to a larger audience and they can make more money. Glitch doesn't censor Digital Circus, but still wants to make money. So, they do the BARE minimum above what Disney does and lets Goose do whatever, but they DON'T accommodate for the lack of censorship by warning their audience that the show is for an older demographic, because that would mean less people end up seeing Digital Circus, and thus, less money. Kids are also VERY receptive to merchandise ads of their favorite cartoon characters. I don't doubt that most of the merch sales Digital Circus makes comes from parents being asked by their kids to buy the funny rabbit guy in a maid dress, with the parents having no clue what the context behind it is.
Good job Kevin. I'm sure you're real proud of the impact you've made on the world.
