I'm sure I've said this elsewhere on the farms, but I don't buy this age inappropriate discussion for a couple of reasons.

1. Growing up I remember films like Aliens and Robocop being 18 rated but being watched by kids. They even had toy lines. Nothing in TADC is anywhere close to that.

2. Years ago there was a bunch of hand wringing about how adults were the main consumers of toys. Pointing to this as an example of millennials being in arrested development and how it's going to society and blah blah blah. At the same time, headlines proclaimed the Ipad as "the most popular toy for Christmas 80 years running!" or whatever. You can likely see the problem when put back to back like that. Redefining Ipads, Warhammer, and hentai figurines as "kids toys" is the problem.

2.5 There was a similar moral panic about YA (Young Adult) fiction being the most popular genre of fiction for adults. Again, arrested development, millennials bad, etc. Turned out that YA stories were popular because they could unironically have heroes, action, and adventure. Not disappearing up their own arse with purple prose, politics, and depression. Turn that d upside down if you want it to be a ps.

Cooper is very terminally online and I would imagine he reads this page because he is a textbook narcissist AGP. Although he has chosen the trans route IRL and with his self insert, fortunately I think he is sincerely burnt out with this series for the time being and only the future will tell what his Australian overlords decide to do.

It would be a waste of time to argue with his fanbase over Jax's gender, but there's still some fans of his that appropriately don't honor anything that wasn't shown in the show. I'm not entirely convinced he doesn't hate his fandom even more now, though the writing was on the wall as to how it would turn out and I don't know how he could miss it. Cooper has called Jax his "son" when he could have easily used "child", has used he/him pronouns for Jax even after the finale release, and has said it was always meant to be subtle/vague on the trannyness despite also being clearly frustrated that nobody understands how heckin trans Jax actually is. The character concept was "made to appeal to him" and he has also been on record saying he enjoys seeing fanart of Jax getting mutilated and murdered. He also says he would fuck/marry/kill Jax. So it is no surprise that it went from putting Jax in drag to wanting him to troon out. To him, it is a cartoon version of himself. This says a lot about how mentally ill he is. He might be more respectable than his fanbase though, who treats Jax like a real person whose identity/pronouns must be validated!!!

I have to give him some credit though, he was able to draw detailed characters (that he thinks are all boring and useless except Jax, whatever), drew concept arts/storyboards, wrote every episode, voice acted, directed other voice actors, and created music for this. Talent can only get you so far before you burn out though. Although it's probably more appropriate to discuss this for his own thread, I also recently learned he is the middle child between two sisters. This couldn't have possibly influenced his life choices, no not at all.

I will assume good faith and not assume you are ignoring that part on purpose to focus on the nothing burger aspects like abstraction that nobody has a problem with. In case it wasn't obvious, I mean the sexual aspects of the show.

For me, the potential glorification of suicide present through Jax's abstraction was the most concerning element in the show that I would worry about as a parent. The sexual aspects to me are nothing more serious than Family Guy or the Simpsons had produced over a decade before this show was released, with both shows being widely recognized as appropriate for teenagers and young adults. It's why I included a clip from the Chapelle show, which featured violence, sex, swearing, and other taboos in far more gratuitous ways yet that is still categorized TV-14 at a time when the culture was much more conservative.

No offense but if a parents is allowing their 13 year olds or younger, to watch shows that talk about genitalia, and shows the characters having sex, they are failing as parents.

I specifically said teenager (ages 13-19), so I don't know why you are including pre-13 year olds in this point, but as far genitalia and sex in the show, all I remember is Zooble saying "sex" once and the credit scene with cartoon hearts coming from behind a door (I'm not rewatching the series to check for more) which, again, is nothing worse than anything I've already referenced and I'm sure almost anyone could think of more risque stuff they saw on tv in shows marketed towards as appropriate for teenagers.

And I already told you it’s inaccurate to group a 13 year old with a grown ass 19 adult on a nebulous and vague “teenage” group when it comes to talk about age appropriate content. One extreme is old enought to vote and got to college, the other is a literal middle schooler that wouldn’t survive day without their parents.

It’s a convenient scapegoat to pretend it was about the 18-19 year olds and not the middle schoolers.
