the song choice was blatantly meant to be used for him and pomni as a couple rather than the troonshit going by the clips used and the entire fucking monologue right before it followed by pomni going "STAY WITH ME" right before he gets hit with the flashbang.

if this were in a better finale and the fanbase wasn't pure cancer and all creatives willing to bend backwards to the mob they wouldn't immediately jump to this shit every fucking time this would have actually kind of been a fitting/tragic end minus the abrupt asspull reason for the death. it wasn't even him acking himself there it was him nearly coming back from the brink, getting hit with a flashbang and then people pulling pomni away from him as he fucking perma-dogs.

The entire usage of the song was clearly to frame pomni not giving up on jax even after he had long given up on himself.

I can understand people’s confusion with Pomni X Jax or Pomni X Ribbit.

If this was a normal show made by a normal creator then yes you would be right, you are not crazy to think there were heavy romantic undertones. The animators likely pushed it too. Yes, the “isn’t she lovely” song seems to fit Pomni too.

But unfortunately this is not a normal show with a normal creator. I sincerely doubt Goosework, being Trans, would be able to depict his self insert as the man of a straight relationship. He is using the show to vent about his life, telling a nice romantic story was never in his plans.

Both Pomni and Ribbit really just existed to be therapists to Goosework via his self insert Jax.

If anything it’s likely the control freak funders at GLITCH forced him to tone down the trans metaphor aspects. So when Gooework said he meant it to be a trans metaphor I, unfortunately, believe him.

The only way I can see Pomni and Jax being a thing is if they rescue the franchise from Goosework.

Random thoughts after the Mrs marathoned the show this weekend:

I appreciate they actually had consequences in the story. (Not pulling a Steven Universe and have everything solved by the power of friendship at the end.) Abstraction is basically death/suicide and permanent. There is no coming back.

Jax is a pathetic character that made his bed and had to sleep in it. The "I don't want to go" bit was actually well done and he realized too late how badly he fumbled life. It reminds me a lot of Shinji from End of Evangelion, but without the few redeeming qualities he had.

The first part of the frog girl bedroom scene is probably one of the best romantic setups I've seen in a bit. It felt real, earned, and tragic when it falls apart due to Jax pushing people away. You realize they could have had something sweet and beautiful only for it to end horribly for both.

The trans stuff felt tacked on and an excuse to explain why Jax is the way he is. You could honestly cut it completely and still have the story work as a pure hedgehog dilemma.

Pacing in the last episode is a problem. So many characters are effectively cast by the wayside with no real purpose in the last 20 minutes. The ending with Caine is rushed because of it.

Giving the show a 5/10. The rough draft of a good story is there, but half-baked:

For the past two days I have witnessed how the exact same people, exact same accounts, exact same names that hated Jax with their life for being a mean character are now suddenly making fanart and praising their new transgender representation rabbit the millisecond Gooseworx posts that trooned out AGP Jax sketch. I cannot enter social media without people being obsessed with that
 
Because no matter how depraved, violent, toxic, abusive, and sexually pervasive someone is, if they troon out then they MUST be validated.

Validating trannies is the single most important thing in existence.

I wonder if Goose and Glitch were having a falling out over the inclusion of overt trans shit, the bow thing is open to interpretation so they let it slide and this scene was pitched as a love song for Pomni to get it in but Goose and his VA friends wants to highjack it pushing by pushing it as confirmation of troon Jax on social media. It would be intresting if the VAs that are pushing it continue to worn with Glitch because Goose sure as shit ain't anymore.

This is why auteur theory is dead. You can't have a single creative force in charge of fucking everything on a project you're presenting to the public with the goal of a return on financial investment. You need someone to reign shit in and call you out when you're being stupid.
This doesn't just extend to autistic tranny shit, either. Look at the Star Wars prequels or Megalopolis. Hell, even Kubrick had some misses (did we really need a fifteen minute sequence of that pod docking or a ten minute sequence of a guy running sideways?).
At a certain point, you need someone who's willing to just yell "Cut!"
