My biggest problem with the show has ALWAYS been how they've been trapped their a long time, but all the characters act like they only got there a week before Pomni, and are still surprised by and figuring out things they should have LONG before she ever entered the circus.

It's clear the initial plot was caine was keeping people trapped in there in a VR sim game that was meant to be a different thing he took over instead of the thing it was meant to be, the fact the C&A people don't act like they're brain scans and them getting stuck in the simulation was a freak accident is really telling how last minute the brain scan shit was added.
Reminder Kinger's wife was also a C@A employee and they both also reacted like they weren't supposed to be stuck in the VR world thing. It makes kinger dropping the brain scan diatribe out of nowhere at the beginning of the final episode make 0 fucking sense

Its weird how the otherwise "normal" penultimate episode may well end up being a more climatic and satisfying end to the series than the actual ending.

The German dub giving Scratch weird dialogue makes more sense when you know the behind-the-scenes story: the German dub team thought it was weird that Scratch's mouth was moving but nothing was coming out, so they added some generic dialogue they thought would fit.
It's literally just a case of a dub team fucking things up.
