It seems like just patching up the file to regain some existence should be possible unless they just find it distasteful? I guess they could ask after explaining they are all just character.ais so might as well make the most of chatbot life.

In a way Steven Universe partially recovering the corrupted gems was at least a bit more interesting... particularly with the visuals as you could have had some partially damaged files to play around with designs.

I'm glad other people are considering the possibility that this was a lament on transfailure... that you will never have the body of your dreams and would have been happier in the long run just making the most of the life you got rather than attempting to reshape it chasing a futile dream. Very stunning and brave for Goosewerx to tackle that.

that's the key difference of why the Circus' SOMA twist doesn't work compared to the original, in SOMA, the actual human was dead the whole time and the "living copy" is the only remaining visage of that person, there's this general dread and despair that envelops you once the twist is revealed, but the Circus tries to make a more positive variation where the real person is out there, alive somewhere, it tries to make it a somewhat bittersweet and hopeful ending where the survivors are living happily ever after but all it really leaves you is a sense of "did any of this actually matter?"

Simon was also an infinitely more likable character than anyone in this show. He had pathos.

It's supposed to be "they think they're real and they feel real to you, so what they've gone through is real enough" executed by a tranny who doesn't know how to write so I feel nothing for the corrupted brain scans. You actually do (or should) start to pity the cookies in Black Mirror: White Christmas, also copies of people's brains who were created without actually understanding what they were consenting to, dooming their digital clone to a lifetime of menial button pressing until they either go insane and get repurposed as FPS NPCs or deleted.

Simon lays it out best when he points out that those fuckers will be up in space living their dreams while they die in the bottom of the ocean instead of being happy he got cucked. At least he and Catherine still did something in the real world by preserving what's left of humanity, meanwhile nothing in TADC actually matters since it's just a bunch of LLMs talking to each other in an old PC that's eventually gonna kill everyone when the abandoned building has a blackout or storm or demolition or some other urban explorer fucks up and spills soda on it, the REAL versions of the characters are doing their own thing out in the world and are automatically several times more interesting than whatever's going on in some closed off gmodland.

There's so many stories like this where the cast goes home as changed people but apparently the ultimate trans fantasy is abandoning your life to play Roblox forever with cheats on.

That pisses me off as well, the cast (except Jax) seems to have changed for the better with very little on-screen progression actually happening to warrant that type of change, Zooble and Gangle inexplicably find happiness from each other from episode 4 onwards after apparently years of being simply acquaintances with very little elaboration of what their relationship was like prior to the fast food episode, it's the closest thing the show has to a healthy relationship while they don't even show what exactly makes the two work so well together, because they just apparently are, with no inciting incident that would have kicked this off, it just happened completely independently, with no influence from anyone else or the wider story.

Kinger is also a problem, the one guy I thought wouldn't be screwed over by the writing since his character is so hard to fuck up, old and crazy schizo who is hinted to be way more intelligent than he lets on, inexplicably loses his crankiness from episode 8 onwards and is just a chill old guy afterwards.

And for Ragatha, who also fixes ALL of her problems with Pomni offscreen in between Jax's breakdown and the awards show in episode 6, and are apparently such close friends that they loudly declare in the finale that they are each other's closest friends after barely interacting with each other for most of the series.

Pomni does not have an arc, it looked like she was in the pilot when she's about to have a breakdown, before then spending the rest of the series as a mostly bystander protagonist who tries to fix Jax, fails, and moves on to Ragatha.

Caine inexplicably becomes a good guy after letting that blue ball go.

Once again them being brainscans and nothing being real literally negates caine's reasoning and motivation for keeping them there established in episode 1 and referenced as a point of conflict throughout the entire series up untilt he episode where he fucking dies. "they won't leave! I WON'T LET THEM!" literally means nothing now if he always knew they were brain scans. His entire crashout makes no sense with the brain scan twist and it gets even worse because the "movie" is the last two episodes back to back unedited so the plot hole/retcon shit becomes really, REALLY blatant

While I still think SOMA was always the end game, I concede that the whole premise of It being a circus, and them having to do adventures not to abstract, and it being a video game, was poorly justified bordering on plot hole.

It's not in the English version, but in one of those theory channels, caught thanks to the german dub , that in the script Scratch was confused about the circus existing too, and even asked Caine what was that place, and how to exit.

You may recall Scratch is the guy that made the Brain scanning tech in the first place, so it really doesn't make sense he is not aware of him being a scan or why it is a circus themed simulation. But somehow Kinger is.

It does have the impression they were humans trapped not brain scans .

It is misleading.

Its so weird they included that scene in the end with her almost snapping only to never follow up on it and dedicate her character for the majority of the series toward being one of those "I can fix him" girls only to miserably fail at fixing him every step of the way just like all those "I can fix him" girls, with her jester design turning out to mean literally nothing in relation to her character, I hate POV/everyman characters that don't really do anything because I never want the main protagonist that's followed through most of a story to be the least interesting character of the story.
