Lil' Darkie has a new album out and shits on Trump, MAGA, Musk, Republicans, Democrats, police, anti-2A, etc.
It basically a call for violence against the government and I appreciate the brazenness.

Been listening to some old old shit today, i still think Ams Uno is one of the most slept-on mcees of his days. Dude even slept on his own, sadly short-lived, hype. Could only find the whole EP on YT, "Your Brain on Ams" is still a banger:

Couldn't hack it in today's hip hop world, the music changed too much, but back then nigga stood out, even if it was only briefly.

Been listening to a lot of Danny too lately and while i dislike most of his newer shit the XXX album still is one of my all-time favorites:
"I got the penis poems to your vagina monologues" is one of the greatest lines ever.

For me, "DNA" is the best track on the album and every time i listen to it i wish he recorded all his shit in that voice:

Just remembered this gem:

I feel like RZA is pretty underrated as a solo artist. That first Bobby Digital album is really good imo. I think, for most fans, it was just too out there, compared to the rest of Wu-Tang's catalog.

I agree, that was a really good album. RZA would have done good if he toured with Outkast doing only Bobby Digital because they were starting to get into their weird, outer spacey phase, but before they started making old timey show tunes.

Anywho, Outkast first album was a great album IMO. Different than a lot that was out at the time.

Same here, I love the first Bobby Digital. I will say though that his delivery and cadence can put people off. It's bearable on Wu-Tang tracks because someone else picks up his slack, but listening to an album full of his weird delivery might be hard for people just expecting stuff similar to Rae and Ghostface's styles.

Does rap count as hip-hop? I want to give Lil Wayne his roses for his single, 6 Foot, 7 Foot.

It sounds like nonsense and random rambling through every verse, but if you analyze his rhyming scheme, it's actual musical genius.

One line in particular is a S-tier command of the English language, enough to even create a debate:

Bitch, real G's move in silence like lasagna

The phonetic sounding of the g in lasagna is silent. Of course, the second syllable from lasagna (-sag-) makes a ZAHN sound like in canyon. There's no guh sound in lasagna.

Some stuff i listened to today, from what i consider the Golden Age of Hip-Hop, 1999 to 2004, solely because that was the time i really got into US stuff. I still consider "The Cold Vein" by Can Ox the best album of that time, next to Ill Bill's "What's wrong with Bill?" but there was also so much other stuff being released at the time (DOOM's output, anything Cage at the time, anything Def Jux) that it's really hard to pick favourites:

Can Ox - Pigeon
The hate these niggas got because of "Why is hood niggas rapping about pigeons?" will always be beyond me, i could endlessly fanboy about Vordul's abstract lyrics in this. "Iron Skin Leopards" will forever stick with me. El-P's production also on another level.

Can Ox - Stress Rap
Again, insane production, this fucking beat. Vast Aire's first verse, nigga comes in just beastly. Makes me wonder if he had a ghost writer here because his solo album after the Can Ox split was dogshit lyrically.

Ill Bill - Legend has it
Banger track on an album full of bangers.

Ill Bill - American History X
Same as above, one of my favorite Necro beats. Nearly came to blows over this album because a friend of a friend was shitting on it, that is how hard i was feeling it back then.

Just throwing this in for good measure, probably not interesting to people ITT because no one here speaks german:

Rokko Weissensee - Wald
Been considering him the best rapper not only from my city but from all of Germany as a whole for quite some time now. Completely unique style, be it lyrics or beats. Straight underground, no chance in heaven to ever have mainstream appeal. Insane output, every album and EP is golden.

I love it too, it's a shame what happened to them after their debut though.
If you haven't heard this yet, your in for a treat. I love El-P's production, but RJ blew him out of the water with this beat.
anything Cage at the time
I wish Cage recorded/released more material between Hell's Winter and Depart From Me. He struck a solid ground between the over-the-top persona he had on Movies For The Blind while still sounding mature. It's never going to happen, but I also wish we could hear the original version of Depart From Me before it got delayed and reworked after Mu died.

Here's some cool stuff that's not on streaming if anyone's interested:

Hell's Winter (Demo version with a different beat and a few different lines)

Blood Boy (DFM track that didn't make the album from the Def Jux X Adult Swim collab tape)

Worm In Her Vein (DFM bonus track produced by Aesop Rock)

If you haven't heard this yet
Already know it but haven't listened to it in forever. RJD2 is another one of these producers that take me right back to that Golden Era anytime i listen to shit he's involved with. Like El-P just an extremely unique and distinct style, i love it.
That's were Cage lost me. Some good tracks on it but too many that made me go "uhhhh", didn't sound old Cage enough for me any more. Movies for the Blind i skip some tracks too when i listen to it (which i still do pretty often) but it's all in all a great album. I tried to listen to Cage's post-Hell's Winter shit somewhere around last year and it just didn't connect with me.

I want this Cage when i listen to Cage, probably my overall favourite verse of his:

I also lament his falling out with Necro, just from Radiohead alone you can tell they were an insanely good fit. Necro spoke about it in his recent Panda Chop interview and it's just "Man, what could've been".
You mentioned Camu and all i can say in regards to Mu is that i still pump the Nighthawks album often and love him on there. Definitely sad that he was taken so soon and also in a pretty rotten way, cancer is an absolute bitch.
Favorite Camu verses on this but Cage is lyrically insane on it, too. Not to mention the beat.

Edit: Goddamn, i forgot how hard that F-Word remix beat hits, on the third listen now.

This is such a great album, blunt after blunt should be mentioned. Detriot 187 is sweet too.
