The Xirkali exist because Grand Cathay exists. I know people who criticized Mantic for just copying what GW is doing. The new edition for Kings of War has introduced battalions like Age of Sigmar or Conquest, where you can only take on Commander units (i.e., Warlords or Champions) per battalion.

Here's an example of how the new army building works for Kings of war 4th edition. Using the Mantic Companions App.

The ching chong army is a knock off of the GW ching chong army. Same way the Rift orcs were Stormcast knock offs.

They have furfag shit in them when GW does not. The concept art is furfag shit. The new army is furfag shit when GW's beastmen are not.

Notice the difference.

Funny, I never saw the Riftforge orcs as a knock off of the Sigmarines.
Then you're blind. Nottingham isn't a very big place and all these companies intermingle.

Are you referring to the Xirkali and the Force of Nature or just Xirkali?
Stop double posting there is an edit button.

Both. Dog men look furfaggy and then cat faced beastmen look furfaggy.

I think the avatar of the green lady is a Doom reference but the rest of it is low quality furry shit.

They all look pretty generic but not half bad IMO. I wish the guy luck, more options aren't bad, especially if they're competently priced

On that note of undead, I did get a couple boxes of Oathmark undead and they're pretty lovely, the bronze age style they got is pretty nice. Good value too, 30 skeletons for 32 USD and options for hand weapon, spear or bow, full command, their revenant models are also nice, two handers and shields for those, again with full command. Skeletons are a bit spindly as I've read but they aren't as thin as I expected.

As goofy as it is, it reminds me of some Saturday morning cartoon shit, there's room on the market for that.
That's probably why he's doing it. He also probably noticed the decline in DND and may be trying to capitalize on the lack of well made silly table top games

Can't go wrong with Oathmark or Frostgrave boxes.

The XD SO QUIRKY minis are all over these sort of skirmish games. I was looking at them yesterday trying to find something different and they're all pulling soy faces and have pixar eyebrow lifts. They think it's goofy like oldhammer had goofy sculpts. But it makes them really obnoxious when it's all of them doing it.

Did Duncan make his paints usable yet? I picked up a few and their coverage was terrible. They weren't 2 thin coats, it was more like 6. When every other line stepped up in quality right around their release I never found a point of them. They were like using old Army painter or AK paints.

It's hard to capture Oldhammer whimsy. It's supposed to be tongue in cheek, not straight goofy. Ironically enough, the last time I saw a modern fig really catch some of that old shine was a 40k official fig, the Ratling Big Shot warming his sandwich and coffee on the laspack of his anti-tank gun.

Where are you seeing fantasy skirmish games like this? I don't mean people selling bullshit sculpts on MMF, I mean actual product that could go into a retail store. Not some random stl proxy churned out by someone thinking they can charge $10 for it.

Also none of the sculpts shown have pixar eyebrow lifts, and the closest thing to a soy face is the princess character that is clearly supposed to be yelling in combat or something along those lines. The male sculpts all have fairly neutral facial expressions. From the bad guy side(baron von evile is a stupid name) it's a bunch of skeletons that look like skeletons with bumps in the eye sockets. The main baron guy just looks like a generic 80s fantasy cartoon villain, and the Revna character again has a neutral facial expression.

What the fuck are you even talking about?

Arc worlde was one that immediately came to mind. There's a couple of folklore fantasy ones going round I can't remember the name of.

Silly names, soy face woman, armoured pug and skeletons have over the top cartoony eye sockets. The silly over the top cartoony style foundations are all there. You learn to recognize the early warning signs of the XD so quirky penguin of do0m style games when you keep an eye on random shit. If Duncan wasn't trying to make these warhammer comparable they would be much worse.

@MazonLabs Recruitment Rep A lot of the old sculpters are making new metal minis in the same style. Especially orcs, goblins and chaos. But they're all very expensive metal minis. You need so many to fill out an army there's no point. Make good gifts for mates though.

This is what I see when I look up Arc Worlde, first minis shown on the page, and a couple of their other starter sets

The sculpts from Duncan's game look nothing like that faggotry. And this is soy face?

Is this also soy face?

I'll give you credit for pointing out the arc worlde shit that I've never seen before, but claiming that a clearly shouting facial expression is anything like soy face is fucking retarded. The cheeks on her face don't even make sense for soy face.

Since you seem to have forgotten what the fuck soy face is, this is soy face

If you don't believe me fine. But le quirky chungus is all over those models and if he continues on this line expect the worst. Wait til they get to the green skins to see it come in full force.

Arc worlde isn't even the biggest one. You see a lot of adverts in UK tabletop magazines for these sort of games. 5-10 mini "dark" folklore with quirkly models. It's a niche boutique product but it's growing in the retail space.
