What is Your Favorite Sub Shop?

They could easily take cash orders by hand and reconcile with the computer later. All they would need is a piece of paper to write down what was sold and for how much.
It's corpo rules. They can't become an old timey sub shop when the POS goes down. The problem is the Jimmy John's tends to be in a gas station, so they can't just lock the doors.
The other shitty thing is the employee can't just clock out and go home, so they're stuck behind the counter where customers can pester them for sandwiches.

Subway Meatball Marinara is a guilty pleasure. Pepper jack and jalapenos on it slaps.

Jersey Mike's is good. I'm also a big fan of Jimmy John's.
I never really enjoyed subway to much, Last time I went the kid behind the counter was stoned as hell and I had to repeat myself 3 times about my bread choice. But there meatball marinara is pretty good. I'll have to try pepper jack and jalapenos on it.

Jersey Mikes is my favorite. Consistently good and fresh. I always get mine Mike's Way even though its a bit messy. Get them to hold the oil and vinegar if you don't want to risk it getting soggy. The Club Supreme is amazing. They focus on ingredients and it shows. Take the opportunity to visit one if you haven't been.

Potbelly's is another one of my favorites. Nothing beats a hot sub on a cold day in the winter. Their bread is good and mac and cheese tastes like gold. Drinks are good too. The decor inside is cozy to me. Never tried their shakes but I've heard good things about them. They make good salads and chili too. They do put their locations in strange areas sometimes.

Jimmy Johns is great too. Their cookies are tasty with Ghirardelli chocolate chips. The ice they use in their drink machines is like chick-fil-a's pebble ice which keeps the drinks icy cold. I always would buy their day old bread and use it for another recipe or make a sub the next day.

I used to enjoy Firehouse but in the past year the quality has suffered and became expensive for what I got. The past few times its taken them way too long to prepare a hot sub and the result was not great either. The Hook & Ladder is delicious when prepared correctly. The closest ones near me have those Coke Dream Machines too which never taste good to me so thats another reason why I stay away.

Not on the above list, but Penn Station has to be my favorite chain for a grilled sub, the fresh lemonade and fries add on to a good sandwich, even if it is pricey

Probably (imo) the best chain offering for a Reuben that I can think of.

Quiznos has been an esoteric memory for me for many moons; I remember eating there a lot as a kid, but haven't stepped foot in one for well over a decade, idek where one is. Oh well, perhaps somewhere i will encounter it in my travels.

Posting that Quiznos commercial, as i wont have another excuse to do so:

I like Jersey Mike's.

Jimmy John's is okay, but their bread is a little unusual-tasting. Plus they only do cold subs.
Subway? Absolute slop. The restaurant smell has never been adequately explained, the operations are uneven, and the ingredients are horrible, I would know, I worked there. Had to throw out a bunch of stuff when it came in, but my IQ is well above the average Subway worker.

I remember I loved Potbelly in college, but that was like ten years ago, and while there's still a store in town, there's no free parking in the area.

I sometimes make my own sandwiches but there's always caveats: a toaster oven is no replacement for the "quick ovens" Subway had. When I worked at Subway I would prepare my own sandwiches including toasting the spinach and onion. Unfortunately, no one at Subway has ever prepared my sandwich close to correct.

The biggest challenge when making a sandwich at home is two-fold: availability of bread (you have to really prepare that stuff ahead of time, like getting a frozen loaf and reheating it in the oven) and getting that stuff toasted.

My area still has several Quiznos and I am impressed they haven’t cheaped out on the ingredients or any shrinkflation bullshit. Most fast food franchises are just awful but Quiznos is a rare exception. The chicken carbonara still hits the spot. They’re still my favorite.

Firehouse Subs was good many years ago but last couple of times were trash so that’s that.

Jersey Mike’s is good but overhyped for me. I heard it was the best thing ever and I agree if you compare it Jimmy John’s or Subway, sure.

Jimmy John’s is okay if you want something fast. Tastes okay but I’ve never been impressed by them.

Subway belongs at the bottom. They were once good 20 years ago but has been a steady decline. Last few times their toaster was down and was manned by pajeets of all people. They got rid of some ingredients I used to like, their bread variety sucks, and their fountain drinks are consistently watered down.

Every pizza place or deli makes grinders that blow every chain restaurant out of the water. They tend to have more substantial sandwiches and / or are a lot cheaper.
Never eat in a pajeet subway, they intentionally let the meatballs spoil.
Every subway in the colonies is owned by Afghans IME. They’re just as stingy and bottom-line profit driven as ‘jeets, though. However, I mostly blame Subway corporate for that; they’re a bunch of vultures.

Subway corporate doesn’t restrict locations of new subways like McDonald’s or others do so they’re perfectly fine allowing stores to cannibalize one another. Every shitty strip mall I see has a subway. It just incentivizes pajeets scheming.

Our nearest Subway fucking confuses me. They used to have a longstanding tradition of "Sub of the Day" where you got a particular sub at a hefty discount. I checked it out after a bunch of years and not only do they not let you customize it anymore, they put like two dressings and very basic veggies in it. If you're sinking in business, why would you shoot yourself in the foot?

I don’t know how wide spread it is in the US but I really like Ike’s. I do suggest that you ask them to go a little light on the sauce or have it on the side because those bad boys WILL fall apart on you. I’m also a big fan of Togo’s, it’s my to-go if I’m by one since Subway is basically the same price now

firehouse meatball is perfection, and any place that only serves cold sandwiches like Jimmy Johns, can get fucked
