A discussion thread for all things Subs.

Personally Firehouse Subs is my personal favorite chain it's known for it's Firehouse themed decor and having a unique mural in each location with some relevance to the local community. My favorite Sandwich here is the "Hook and Ladder", definitely recommend. It's rapidly growing so if you don't have one near you that may soon change.

How about you? Where do you prefer to get a Sub?

I also really like Firehouse Subs, but there isn't a restaurant that's near where I live, so I can't go there too often.
I also like Potbelly, but the service at my location is fucking awful. Staff often gets orders wrong, frequently shuts down the restaurant to make it online orders only... and don't even bother ordering anything on BOGO Day, you'll almost never get your food.
Jersey Mike's and Jimmy John's are on the rung below for me. I prefer Jersey Mike's slightly, but they're both good options if you're in a pinch.
Subway sucks cocks and is just a last resort option on a road trip.

My favorite is Quizno's but there's virtually none around anymore. We have 2 in Ohio, but they're both hours away from me.
I remeber all those Bob the Baby commercials they had in the 2000s. But you're right about their decline. In 2007 they had more than 4,000 locations globally now theres less than 400.

I suppose he was heaps better than Subway's preferred spokesman at the time

I kept my subway sub club card for nearly a decade after the program was discontinued. The card was destroyed in the washing machine.

I loved quiznos, but have never been able to find the sandwich I used to get on any menu on the internet archive.
Specifically it was roast beef, cheddar, a bbq sauce I've never had anywhere else, sliced onion, and dried tomatoes.

I hate dried tomatoes, but that sandwich was fucking boss.

Jersey mike's is good, but sub sandwiches are too expensive to eat out now, I just make my own.

I can't think of a damn thing that would get me to order a sandwich at subway today.

I dont like sandwiches

Every time I have eaten Quiznos I have been served expired or rancid coldcuts. It seems like it'd be a good sandwich if they could deliver fresher meats. Tried Jersey Mikes for the first time, and I'll go back someday; quality steak & cheese.

Subway is ubiquitous in my region so I have many memories of gorging on doublemeat steak & cheese footlongs, but it is nothing to write home about.

So, these days I go out of my way to find delis, to buy from people who make their own pastrami and use locally made bread.

Potbellys is good, the only downside is they're always located in those sterile suburban hellscape strip malls between a Crumbl and a Starbucks
For several years my local sandwich shop was a Potbellys on the ground floor of a building that was a Reddit urbanite bugman fantasy (dystopian-modern design, "gentrified" rent prices but heavily seasoned with diversity-related incidents). Sandwiches were good but you had to dodge panhandlers, H1B herds, and yelling matches between foreign UberEats drivers and shitlib bike riders.

Soulless as the suburban corporate strip malls may be, it's nice to be able to pull in to a parking spot where my car won't get broken into, get to the door without encountering someone subsidized by local government and (NGOs) to make my life worse, and have a nice chat with the sandwich girl home from school or whatever, with no tats or kool-aid hair in sight.
