How do they do it?

I like Potbelly’s the most not solely because of their sandwiches, but they have the best damn sides. Their soups kick ass. Definitely carries it to the top in my humble opinion.

I like Jersey Mike’s second but they douse their sandwiches in oil and vinegar shit is always insanely soggy.

Firehouse is 3rd because their sandwiches are good, but they have a weird taste to them I can’t quite put my finger on.

Which Wich is like Subway or Jimmy John’s but better. It’s alright, but their sauce and fries are definitely the highlight to me.

I like Jimmy John’s the least, but I’d eat it if I have to.

I refuse to eat Subway. Yoga-mat bread and fake-ass meats so shitskins working behind the counter can handle them without committing Jihad or having to pray to Lord Vishnu. Last time I went they had that butter garlic herb bread and when I went the two Indians behind the counter, that were barefoot, were arguing with each other in some disgusting language while I tried to tell my order to one of them over their yelling. I got that butter garlic herb bread and they lathered this disgusting shit over it and toasted it, and I got fucking food poisoning from that garbage. Fuck that. Fucking hate Subway.

I’ve never (un)fortunately(?) eaten at a Quizno’s before.

What the fuck is a Blimpies?

What do you all think about those Vietnamese cold cut sandwiches where they cut open a loaf of French bread and stuff it with all the Vietnamese vegetables. In my area every Vietnamese mom-and-pop pho restaurant or bistro has them, they are pretty good value for how much you get.

I miss when you could get any foot long sandwich for $5.
Now a good sub w/o a discount will run you $15, and $20 if you wanna customize it.

Idk, the thing that pisses me off most is that as prices increase, the places I'm willing to try decrease. Back when you could get a full meal for $10-$12, I was willing to try a place I'd never been to, because worst case scenario, I could just get something I do like later, and I might have only wasted a few bucks. These days though I'd rather not spend $17 on 2/3's of a meal made with shit quality just so that I can go spend just as much on 2/3's of a meal with shit quality that I actually like.

I had Quiznos at the airport a few weeks ago and it was really good. It was my first time in a while.

I used to be a Subway maniac, but they've fallen hard in the last decade.

I've never had Jersey Mikes or Potbelly, but Jimmy Johns is great.

However none of them compare to my local deli that I'm convinced is putting cocaine in their subs. They're so good I fear an addiction and only visit every now and then.

I've come to enjoy my local Sourdough & Co. Their bread is bretty goob.
I do miss Quiznos.
Beach Hut Deli's not too bad either, but their prices border on extortionate.

Banh mi? I've had some that were good because they were generous with the meat, and the carrot/pickle/radish/chili combo made it taste a little fresher/livelier than your standard wilted lettuce and tomato. But they also tend to be common in cosmopolitan gentrified places, meaning you get borderline-vegetarian quantities of meat and pay $17 for a bread-salad that leaves you hangry in 15 minutes.

>no WaWa
>no Publix

Communist infiltrators cannot be tolerated

most of the time I roll with wawa, but my best sub jams were this gas station down the street from an overnight gig I had for years, they were a full-on Boar's Head joint and would fresh slice the cold cuts for you even at 3AM, it was THE best shit, and you could get bongs and otc speed there too, all the good stuff. they also had nyc style footlongs in the mystery liquid and the red onion goop

In addition to closing down Philly stores due to "local socioeconomic factors" or whatever, they're expanding into most of the Southeast and some of the Midwest. I've always seen Wawa as a genuine local institution where PA/NJ guidos and guidettes can stop in for cheeze bawlz and grindahz and other essentials, but it would be funny to watch Mid Atlantic shitlibs oy-veying when the Deep South takes another of their businesses.

Subway for nostalgia, it has a distinct fake taste that I sometimes crave. It also happens to be one of the cheapest fast foods if you use their app since they constantly give out BOGO deals, nothing like the $5 footlong of old though.

The real answer is Capriottis, but its so overpriced I cant recommend it to anyone. The Bobbie is a GOAT sandwich.

I recently got into making my own cold cut sandwiches and have been really enjoying making monstrositys.

I live in Nevada and don't have that near me so I didn't remember it when creating the list but I hear people from the East Coast swear by it. As somebody whose never had it before I am curious, is a sub from a Gas Station really as good as from one of the main Sub chains?
yeah, they take their shit pretty seriously, it's not like the "hot" "food" section of a 7-11 or whatever
they're a really big joint, like a dozen or two pumps, inside bigger than most subways I see, also a walk in beer cooler

They can be fantastic or shitty, with no consistency between locations. But yeah, they can make a fantastic sub if you find a good one. Wawa is always a gamble.
Same thing with Jimmy Johns.
When it's good, I'd say its on the level of blimpies. There are blimpies in nevada, but holy shit is there a big gap between locations.

I like the viral videos about Jimmy Johns where they give zero fucks about karens flipping their shit.
"The POS is down, I can't sell you a sandwich"
"Oh, I have cash!"
What part of the POS is down did you not understand, you fucking retard. You can't bargain with CLOSED.

To be fair, that's because they don't want to, not because they can't. They could easily take cash orders by hand and reconcile with the computer later. All they would need is a piece of paper to write down what was sold and for how much.

I used to actually like Subway quite a bit before they fucked their ingredients and menu in the ass.
At my previous workplace, there was a Subway a block away. Once the $5 footlong deals ended and prices started to continually increase on a regular basis, it became cheaper to bring my own lunch. This was reinforced when in 2021 I forgot to bring my lunch and went to the Subway where my usual meal now cost around $12. For the rest of my time at that office, I never forgot my lunch again.

It's rapidly growing so if you don't have one near you that may soon change.
There used to be a Firehouse in the same block as my previous workplace, but it either didn't get enough foot traffic or it couldn't compete with previously-mentioned Subway because it closed after a short time in operation. The one time I went to the Firehouse, the sub was decent, but it and the chips seemed a bit overpriced, and that was without a drink.

What the fuck is a Blimpies?

I was about to ask if Blimpies still exists. In the mid-90s, they were quite popular in my area, but they were yet another franchise that seemd to disappear overnight with little fanfare. From my experience they were good for a quick bite to eat on the go.

When Quiznos dramatically downsized rather rapidly, all of them in my area disappeared practically overnight. The one time I looked on their location map, the closest one was over an hour away with no signs of changing any time soon.
