I suspected that Hofstetter's hecklers were plants for the most part. He always seemed to have way more "heckler gets owned!!!" moments on video compared to other comedians.

James Corden, who I presume this thread has touched on already, was outed as doing exactly this in his run of One Man, Two Guv'nors for the benefit of a piss-weak joke in which he asks the audience for food, is thrown a hummus sandwich, and sneers "Guardian reader".

Planting hecklers in the audience is shit comedians have done for decades. If there is a “watch some pud get owned by a comedian!” there’s a 99% chance it’s a plant. The few times there are genuine hecklers, the comedians end up having hissy fits like Dave Chappelle.
I met her when she gave a performance at my university over 20 years ago. A good friend of mine lit her cigarette (not a euphemism) and we all chatted for a few minutes. She seemed pleasant enough at the time.

God dammit I forgot about Steve fucking Hofstetter. He's that nu-male soy faggot who used to ruin episodes of PKA back in the day. He would somehow give worse takes than Woody (if that's even possible), and would give every Redditard contrarian take like arguing against self defense, or even trying to defend shitbulls of all things. After seeing his guest appearances I had to look him up on YouTube and lo and behold I discovered his totally-not-faked "owning MAGA heckler" videos. Weird how even after all of these years, he's still just relegated to being some random nobody in the comedy scene. And he obviously uses bots for his view count.

Dave Chappelle is overrated. Although it is funny that Wokeflix give him so much money to make special after special to cry about non existent racism and how much he hates troons.
Not sure if it counts as stand up, but during a performance Hugh Laurie soft owned a drunk guy for yelling and it seemed legit and it was pretty funny.
I can't find the video, but some asshole yelled something for no reason and Hugh said something to the effect of "There's always that one friend after about 3 pints that goes to a show and goes" and then he acted out being hammed and hooting from the crowd.
