At the end of the day, it is up to the people participating in the "sport" to determine what they think the rules of the game should be and abide by them.
The majority of those people will be for having the randomness in because it's the only way for them to bridge the ability gap.

Plus in every normal sport you have very specific chances to make a record. There is no "I did 1000 runs on my own and broken the world record this one time".

As long as the modification does not create an impossible scenario in the game who gives a shit.
It instantly creates an impossible scenario.

In the specific scenario you're referring to (juicing drop rates) - the modification works in such a way you can also get cards that don't exist because you can get rolls that put you outside the known table. If there are any placeholder cards, beta cards, or unattainable cards - only the modified player can get those.

The core issue (even through all of the autism) is that speedrunners need to be playing the same exact game. In your coin flip scenario, it would be akin to making a weighted coin that lands on tails 80% of the time vs my normal 50/50 coin - it isn't the same coin anymore and gives the modified player a gigantic advantage.

EDIT - this is also a huge deal in normal people sports too, pretty much everything has to conform to a regulation standard. You don't get to have your own special hockey pucks for example.

Of course updating the drop tables can allow impossible situations but those are at least easy to point out, compared to just someone giving himself an edge and it being impossible to verify unless you have a Dream like situation where he plays long enough to make it mathematically likely.

If someone has infinite time and money to get good rolls to bypass entire parts of a game that's just as unfair to everyone else.

Since we're equating things to real sports, the thing you keep trying to say is good can be taken like this: The people who like this game and have dedicated themselves to beating it quickly are olympic athletes, and you, not an olympic athlete, want to skip all the "regular training" stuff and just be strong and fast immediately and always so you can compete on their level without doing any of the work they did while dedicating all your actual time to whatever you think is important.

That's unfortunate. I think this was the guy who was otherwise infamous for grabbing basically all the single track records at once. Now he's just going to be known as the pedo guy.

Yeah, his reputation was already blemished in the community in 2020 when he unhoarded (released all at once) a ton of world records he had set to obtain all 32 in the game, disrespecting the competition with his main competitor (MR) who had been releasing his times as he set them.

And with all those degenerated that waste their lives just doing the same dice toss over and over, how do they buy groceries? Is it all welfare? Who watches them, is it other speedrunners?
'Who watches them?' in this context has me picturing like a special needs daycare with no adult supervision where the little lightbulb headed non-verbal runners just kind of 'watch' each other, lol
