>getting Sonic x Evangelion in the games
>getting Sonic x DC in the comics

Is somebody fucking with the Time Stones?

I’m late and got spoiled by the thumbnail

I will be the nice one here, this looks fun and I hope we get a full 6 IP wave out of this. DC would be the most obvious new inclusion, just add the Trinity as playable characters. That leaves us with 3 openings.

People won’t like it, but Hololive is probably destined to be one if they do more thanks to Korone.

If I had to go for 2 more, Garfield would be a nice callback and follow-up on the Nickelodeon content. We should probably have another game, so best guess is Street Fighter or Monster Hunter as that is the last non-Nintendo major crossover Sonic has done previously.

There is also Popeye who crossed over out of nowhere:

I’m down for this to get as stupid as possible. I’m guessing Disney is off the table, which sucks as it would have been fun to get Ralph back.

Also, lol at them skipping Korra for the Avatar content. I would have totally thought it would be her and Aang like the Nick Kart racers.

Serious question, has IDW Sonic anything going for aside the Metal Virus saga? the more i hear from those comics, the more they feel like fanfiction, if that. Even all the Echidna autism from Archie sounds more appealing than whatever IDW is doing.

EDIT: I remember now, i also heard the Metal Virus was originally an idea meant to appear in Archie comics before they went under, so IDW can't even claim Metal Virus is theirs's.

It had Surge and Kit, but with the way things are going now in both the story and the release schedule, their fall from grace might drag on for years if it even does happen. Knowing how easily influenced the comics are by social media (reddit and twitter), I'm concerned they might actually stick to forcing those two as yet another addition to the roster of Sonic clone anti-heroes.

The current storyline is just some mysterious villain being brought back. All signs point towards it being Starline, even conspicuously star-shaped holes in the ground and Starro-like gizmos hijacking Metal Sonic.

I'd read into it as an admission that the writers have really fumbled the antagonists after introducing villain after villain only to have them immediately get neutered right after their introductions. Starline had some staying power if only because he was a competitor to Eggman.

Well, it had that race with a mysterious racer that... Yeah, nope. It's all filler. When you open with a goddamn robo-zombie apocalypse and then walk it back as if it never happened, you kill all potential tension.
For extra hilarity, the last one, the boy named Lunar or whatever, was a blatant they/them/thing whose storyline was fortunately seen by a passing Sega executive, told the writer "don't pull pedo-shit in comics for children FFS", and thus was neutered to have no pronouns at all, which is as dumb as it sounds (except for a single "they" the writer snuck in). It seems he's still butthurt about that.

Oh, and to think they cancelled a Youtuber for daring to say that transgenderism is not a real thing...

Surge got mad, used a device to empower herself while suffering from PSTD as only OCs can suffer from trauma, wrecked a city while likely killing dozens of people offscreen... And I dunno how it ended, likely with a slap on the wrist. Then she and her fox brother have nothing to do as their original role has been shot.

This feels like a desperate move an intern made at the last minute. We'll get that before a Shadow the Edge remaster, sigh.
No wonder Sega cracked the whip at the IDW comic writers, they have fuck-all to show for this anniversary, so far.

I'm gonna be optimistic and hope that they're taking their time with a new game, rather than crap it out the door for an anniversary.

Hopefully there's a Sonic Central this month. They usually happen around this time.

Sonic-themed PicoPark is a better party game idea than ripping off Fall Guys after the fad is over with Rumble. It seems to play like some of those old multiplayer flash games with tether mechanics, I'll give it a try sometime.

I'm not familiar with the Genesis version but I was one of the 20 kids that had a Sega Saturn and the "Mystic Ruins" from that version is some of my favorite Sonic music of all time, which is saying a lot.
I was a big fan of the Mega Drive version's OST, and I still am, but fuck has the Saturn OST grown on me so much over the years. I used to hate it.

BTW, isn't the tether mechanic done before in Knuckles Chaotix?
If you mean the rubber-band thing, then yea.

In that game, believe it or not, you had SOME control over it. With the combination of the B (hold) button and directional path you could reach places you could never have done solo with any of the characters (except Charmy, who's O.P. in that game and can fly anywhere he wants to). Even if you got stuck, you could press the A button to recall your partner back to you (at the cost of 10 rings though).

idk how it would work in this Pico shit though, from the looks of it you just have the rubber band and you're just forced to "deal with it".

I wonder if it bothers the writers thinking about the random children who don't have Twitter that are going to pick up this comic locally and not know any of this stuff. Are they frustrated knowing that people will just automatically gender this character (probably as male due to a lack of eyelashes) without even noticing the deliberate lack of gendered language? Kind of amusing, ngl
