68% now, same score as Joker

still not bad though. I wonder if this will signal the start of actually good video game to film adaptations
*66%

and the page for the film's "rotten" score so we can see what caused the sudden drop:

Ah hell, I saw it. It was actually pretty cute. I was expecting an Alvin and the Chipmunks level of awful but it felt more like Detective Pikachu than anything else. It was weird, but fun.

TAILS!!!

Asian video game news man says he likes the movie
Several other youtube reviewers such as Layman Gaming are giving it positive reviews as well

Also a lot of birds of prey fans (it has fans?) are leaving poor reviews for the Sonic movie. A lot of them are saying something like they were traumatized by homophobic slurs used in the movie and quickly retreated to another screen to see birds of prey.
They sound like paid shills though...

In any event it seems like Sonic: The Movie is an okay movie elevated to good by the fact nearly everything else in the last couple of years has been woke garbage.

So I saw it, and it's okay. Nothing amazing, probably could've benefited from being a bit longer and a bit better paced, but damn this movie had all the odds stacked against it. Honestly wouldn't mind a sequel, which this movie ends on a sequel hook, plus another one post-credits. The cop guy was alright I guess. Jim Carry just kind of acted like a crazy person the whole time, which was entertaining but just too silly and cruel to take seriously.

Let's get this out of the way, because I know this will be the biggest, most overblown reason people will cite for hating the movie: Sonic does the Dental Floss dance from Fortnite. Twice, in fact. The first time he dances for way longer than he needs to, which would have been bad enough, but then he does it again in the last scene of the movie. It was kind of distracting, but I give it a pass. The kid next to me who was wearing a Sonic onesie loved it, and who am I to ruin that kid's fun?

This is the first movie in decades that I actually want to go out to a theater to watch, just to spite critics. I don't know what to do with myself.

The internet chimped out over people spoiling their beloved capeshit so of course they'll do the same over Sonic's look, will this be the biggest Valentine's suicide watch of all time?

I don't really like Sonic at all but I have to admit this movie does look kind of fun and it has me a little curious. I suppose it helps that it's one of the few times that directors actually listened to fans, so... yeah I'll probably go see it tomorrow or something.

I’ll go see it.
Why not?
It can’t be worse than Birds of Prey.
Funny you mention that. Weirdly enough, Birds of Prey fans were trying to flame the Sonic film before it even released, earlier this week.

IMO releasing a kids film at this time of the year, especially on a weekday, is a very odd decision. The easter holidays seems like a better choice, but perhaps it reflects Paramount's confidence in the film's success.

If I have the time this weekend, I might see it in the theaters if nothing else is going on. Not exactly a Sonic fan, but I think it'd be good for a quick laugh and a way to kill time on a Sunday afternoon or something.

I'll admit, I do want to check out the movie solely because the studio did something completely unusual in this day and age. They actually listened to audiences and made changes accordingly.

It's refreshing to see a Hollywood studio listen to their customers instead of calling them sexist Nazi incels or whatever the current boogeyman of the month is. Even if the movie really is just a total trainwreck, it's still bound to be better than Birds of Prey or Rise of Skywalker.

Última edición:
Still processing the whole thing so I'm gotta be a little scattershot here:

Holy shit, I dare say that it was actually good. Perfectly not-great-not-bad good. Fittingly, the film has got a quick pace. They nailed Sonic and Robotnik. Which I feel ya need to nail in a Sonic movie. Tom and Sonic's buddy coppery was fun. I'm totally down for a sequel.

Also, It's nice that the easter eggs remained tasteful throughout the movie.
