This might be a hot take, but I kinda hope that the only new Sonic character to show up in the next movie is Shadow. I feel like having Rouge and Amy might bloat the cast a bit, trying to give them ample development and the humans and Shadow. Besides, as far as Amy being the one to convince Shadow to go good? That could easily be relegated to one of the humans, because I don't think they're going away.
Tom's wife could easily take her role. Might as well introduce her and Metal Sonic at the same time if we're going to do a CD adaptation. As for Sonic 3, I imagine they will introduce Rouge if just for the fact she's actually a government spy.

I doubt people were this mad about Sonic and friends driving cars when Sonic Drift came out.

The only emotion people felt was terror coming from a certain doll.
Bruh, you're thinking of Sonic R:

Speaking of which, anyone remember Darknessthecurse?

This was one of the first "reviews" of anything I ever watched… and as an 8 year old, I found it hilarious. As a 22 year old, I still find it hilarious, but for different reasons.

Just gonna copy my post from the other Sonic 2 thread in Video Games.

So, I just saw it today (last night) with a friend of mine, and we both loved it.

Tails' and Knuckles looked really good, as in the fur texturing worked out spectacularly, the animations were fantastic. The voice actors for Tails ans Knuckles were spot on, but especially so with Idris Elba. I hope he gets to stick around for as long as these Sonic movies are here, because he fucking nails it. I hope they both do.

Jim Carrey was even better in this one than the first movie. In the last quarter, I certainly got that "OK, he's a genuine threat now" vibe and not goofy villain. A full next level step up, both in power, ingenuity and his madness.

The story was actually really good. I want to know more about the Echidna/Owl war.

I didn't even hate the wedding scenes as much as I thought I would. It was clear they needed some way to introduce GUN and this was probably the least painful way they could have gone about it. Yeah, they easily stand out amongst the movie but they were funny in their own right.

Speaking of GUN, the moment I spotted the logo on their badges, before they even told which division they were; I kinda had a little fan boy moment and wondered if they'd hint to Shadow.

I look forward to seeing what they can do with Shadow due to the established story. I don't know a person alive that liked or even gave two shits about Black Doom, so they can entirely scrap that portion of their story if they like.

I'm also wondering if at what point they may introduce other threats. I don't think I spotted any easter eggs referencing Perfect Chaos, but if the movies go beyond 3, I'd like to see it, and maybe even Metal Sonic get thrown into the fray.

A bunch of kids cheered during Shadow reveal. Hearing kids happy to see these characters that I'd grown up with gave me a smile.

All in all, I'd give the movie a solid 8.5/10, and my friend said the same. A genuinely fun movie with a few minor flaws and breaks in the kind of action that you actually want to see, as well as missed opportunities for easter eggs.

The kind of action that you do want to see, when it goes, it goes hard.

These movies are being made by people who clearly have a passion for what they're doing, and right now theyre 2 for 2. They're nailing it.

Horror Sonic is long in the past at this point and there's no need to continue to hold it over their heads anymore.

I'm looking forward to watching Sonic The Hedgehog 3 in the future.

The movie has now doubled its estimated budget of 110m. Keep in mind there was a LOT of advertising, but toy sales may offset that. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

I don’t care how stupid Arlo’s review is, watching grown men seething at a muppet about how good this children’s cartoon movie actually is is hilarious.
The fact the dude uses the muppet as a gimmick/ proxy for his own review stuff yet aims to be taken completely seriously makes it even more ridiculous IMO. Like it's literally just an avatar gimmick more or less butpeople have been going like "it'sjust a muppet though" but it's a fucking review persona like the fucking goomba guy where it's literally just an unironic review of a thing with a character used as anavatar.

For me it was less about him not liking it (which is perfectly fair and we should encourage people to express their opinion positive or negative) and more that he was spouting a bunch of bullshit about the creatives "not caring" about Sonic. Literally two seconds of research would show you that Tyson Hesse, one of the most well known big names to work on Sonic and who basically saved the movie franchise with the redesign, loves the franchise. Same with Jeff Fowler who cut his teeth by doing CGI work on Shadow the Hedgehog.

"Only Sonic could win a dance battle this epic" I was dying.

Half this movie was a Gremlins 2 style farce and I kind of loved it. I probably would have hated the parts without Sonic like the wedding scene and operation catfish if I was in tears at how ridiculous the whole thing was. I also loved how when the Russians first saw Sonic and Tails they assumed they were demons and were prepared to murder them but then they won their freedom by beating a muscle man in a dance off. It's also got tons of references to the games in there for the fans.

However, I hated the constant pop culture references, and the CGI was really bad (but that kinda made it funnier), I also felt they could have adapted the game's score since Sonic music is so iconic. I think I might have heard the drowning theme in that scene where Sonic almost drowns, but it was so short and in the BG that I couldn't really tell.

I enjoyed it overall.

One thing I noticed:
Sonic has electric powers in this universe, turns yellow at the end, and learns to call someone his dad...

EDIT:
Another thing I noticed:

EDIT EDIT:
Tails's backstory is that he got bullied for having 2 tails. So, in a way, he was trolled.

You took that cringey joke from Cybershell's Sonic Movie 2 video, which for some reason hasn't been posted here yet.

It's pretty good for the most part.

You got me.

But I bet you didn't notice that Eggman made a Donald Trump reference when Sonic was about to beat him up towards the end of the movie by saying there were "good guys on both sides".
See, I thought that might be a Trump reference, but the Sonic movie seemed like a weird place for it. But then I remembered Jim Carry is kinda “politically retarded”, so maybe he pushed for the line.

Also I agree with you about the wedding stuff. It was played too goofy to get mad about it being there.
