They'd better have Scotsman's wife scream at him for getting himself killed. Bonus points if she's since become a ghost during the 50 year timeskip too and fails/refuses to see the irony. Also have her chastise their daughters for letting him die.

Guy's head looks like a penis.

She was burned. How that didn't do any lasting damage, I don't know.

Another really solid episode. Did NOT expect Scaramouche to show up again or the fact that Ashi has basically been walking around nude this entire time.

I'm glad Jack has a full ally to tag along with him now. Now that he has a partner to help him I think it'll make the end of the journey all the more emotional, however it goes. Ashi's proven to be a really great character and I'm thinking she may very well end up his successor if things go south. We'll just have to see. Only four more episodes left!

"Woah, what a freak. Looked like a talking penis."

An okay episode. I wish I had revisited the series because a lot of what this episode references I have completely forgotten about.

I swear there's one shot where you can see one of Ashi's nipples.

Trivia: when Ashi is talking to that metal guy in the bar it's Phil Lamar doing that voice.

But overall it felt like another filler episode. I like Ashi, great character, but she was the only interesting thing in this episode.

My prediction: next 2 episodes is him getting the sword. Last 2 episodes will be the epic final battle.

What I'd like to know is -and I hope the next episode explains this- why did it take him so long to want to find his sword?
That's obvious, dude. Aku destroyed all the time portals. So he likely sees no real point in trying to defeat him. As he even says in the opening, "all hope is lost." So he just wanders around using whatever weapons he has rescuing people from Aku's forces because even if he is in a hopeless situation, he's still a chronic hero who can't stand idly by while innocent people are threatened.

At no point is it stated that Aku destroyed all the time portals. And we clearly see Jack drop his sword down some sort of mysterious pit. There's a lot of questions left:

What was that pit?

Where did this take place?

Did he drop the sword in the pit while fighting Aku?

Where does that pit go?

We don't know the answers to any of this.

Second episode. Aku's therapy session with himself.

Probably other points too but that's the one I remember offhand.

Also, it isn't likely that he was fighting Aku when he lost it otherwise Scaramouche wouldn't have to tell him.

Are we just not gonna talk about how Demongo shows up for no reason?

Doubt this will happen but it'd be cool as fuck if Demongo claims the essence of Ashi's sisters and uses them against her and Jack.

We'd be led to believe that he's just another "hey, remember this guy?" cameo until he shows up later and gives Jack and Ashi hell. Great way to contrast her sisters with her now that she's undergone character development too.

With four episodes left it probably won't happen but I can dream, can't I?

The talking penis comment caught me completely off-guard. I was watching the newest episode with a bunch of friends, and we all started going back and forth with "dude, he looks like a dick." And then Scaramouche goes and says it, like lmao, 10/10, god bless you Genndy Tartakovsky. This episode was a great mix of "REMEMBER THIS?" from the old stuff and it did a pretty good job at tying up a whole bunch of loose ends at once. It's really cool to see the overall effect that Jack's had on the world he lives in, it was only felt very slightly in the old seasons but here it actually feels like it's resonating.

But overall it felt like another filler episode. I like Ashi, great character, but she was the only interesting thing in this episode.
They are setting up the final battle. Ashi is involuntarily rallying all the characters Jack helped in the first 4 seasons and they made a good job by giving a quick reminder of who they were and how they are involved with Jack. There's plenty of other characters out there that will likely reappear to help Jack, like the seamen, talking dogs, the "jump good" guy, etc, but this episode already established that they all are going to be in the final confrontation.

Are we just not gonna talk about how Demongo shows up for no reason?
Wasn't he kind of banished to the pit when he was defeated by Jack?, interesting that Aku would give him a second chance or probably doesn't care what his subjects do anymore and let them loose. This might also mean we might have all them back for the final confrontation, which already sounds exciting.

He was (seemingly) killed, actually. Aku has him trapped in some glass skull thingy, and he asks for a second chance. Aku seems to consider it for a moment but ultimately decides not to and crushes him in his hand.

...unless that was just some kind of magical phone call or something.

Believe me, I know filler has a purpose. We got to know more about Ashi and the world and that was good. But I've always hated filler even though it's a necessary evil for television. And it's nowhere near as bad as Dragon Ball or Walking Dead which are easily the kings of pointless filler episodes.

I am frankly excited as fuck to see Jack reclaim his sword and then rally the troops for one great big final battle. Even if this was a filler episode and felt a little rushed, it was still a blast to see that even after 50 years, Jack's impact is still being felt and acknowledged in a positive way.

Calling it now, though, the ending is gonna end up going one of several ways:

A. Jack won't be the one to perform the final blow while fighting Aku, but it might be Ashi instead wielding Jack's sword
B. Aku will pull some kind of dad possession bullshit and force Jack to fight Ashi and possibly kill her or force her to kill herself
C. The moment Aku is defeated, Jack's timecurse is broken and he immediately starts rapid-aging like the Viking in the mountain and will die surrounded by his allies and friends, a bittersweet moment
D. All of the above

There's also the Japanese mythos of Susano-o, a samurai who slays the eight-headed beast Orochi. Since they like symbolism, I can see them applying this.

I've got a feeling that these might have been trial episodes, and they wanted to gauge the response to the series before they go any further and renew another whole season. If not, godspeed Samurai. Godfuckingspeed.

Jack gets the sword back, Ashi kicks major ass, and kills her mom.
Overall a great episode and it got me hyped as fuck for the next one.

I'm a bit disappointed that all we get are ten episodes though. It's been so good, I've got to have more.

Scaramouch still isn't dead, and the army hasn't regrouped.

Also whoever said that Aku will find out he lost the sword only to get blindsided has probably called it.
