Is anything post season 14 worth watching?
From what I have seen, no. The show has been on a down-turn since Season 12, if not earlier. It's fun to follow by sticking to the lip syncs/runway looks/drama, but the newer seasons lack the flair the original seasons had, so watching each episode in full isn't the same experience. This is largely due to the audience demographic becoming younger with modern queer indoctrination and their toxic/persistent demands of production. As there is no way to officially please the audience, production has to keep up with demands and heavily rig the outcomes of each season to do so, even more then they did before.

This is why they stopped filming live finales in theaters, because not only would the crowd be full of teenagers, but they also would be unable to film the alternative endings they film. Since Season 6, every front-runner is filmed receiving the win. The true winner is only revealed when they air the final episode.

I will say that if you want a cast of younger queens, which Season 14 had, Season 15/17 would be worth taking a glance at.

Welp another drag queen on the show died.

“Drag Race: Philippines” star Misua died Thursday in the Philippines. Jason Elvie Ty was widely known by their stage name Misua.

The news was confirmed by World of Wonder, the production team behind the “Drag Race” franchise and show. A cause of death was not announced.

Misua’s death occurred as she was set to appear in season 4 of the show which had just started filming. The queens had not yet been announced, and production has been temporarily halted on the show.
In a statement, World of Wonder said, “We are heartbroken to share that Misua, a talented Queen set to appear on season four of ‘Drag Race Philippines‘ passed away in her sleep the morning of April 2. She brought light, artistry, and joy to those around her, and she will be deeply missed. We have paused production to care for and support our cast and crew during this incredibly difficult time. Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and all who loved her. We are in contact with her family who have asked for privacy during this hard time.”

Misua’s family left a tribute on Facebook writing, “Jayson was our dearly loved son, brother, friend, mentor, and most of all, Jayson is a star. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and close friends.”

According to her bio, obtained by Variety, Misua, who was a beloved queen among the Filipino drag community, described herself as “a talented and deeply creative queen from Cagayan de Oro, whose drag was rooted in fashion, artistry, and self-expression. A graphic designer by profession and a performer for eight years, she is known for creating nearly every aspect of her drag herself — from her outfits, hair, and nails to props and visual content — reflecting her extraordinary creativity and eye for detail.”

She added, “A proud member of Haus of LaFeya, Misua finds strength in community and in being surrounded by like-minded artists who share her passion for growth, ambition, and creativity. Her drag name, inspired by her grandfather’s comfort food, speaks to the personal and heartfelt nature of her artistry.”

Her application went on to say, “Known for her striking visuals, fashion-forward perspective, and magnetic presence, Misua brings light, joy, and ambition to everyone around her. She sees herself as both a creative force and a star, with a dream of inspiring others to work hard for what they want and to hold on to their dreams.”

Season 3 of the series aired last year with Maxie being crowned the winner. Khianna placed as the runner-up. “Drag Race: Philippines” was announced in October 2025 to air later this year.

So the shows producers call him 'her'

His family called him 'him'.

How very disrespectful of World of Wonder to his family and friends by misgendering him.

Eh, pretty normal for the world of drag.
The public knew this person only as a female character the guy was portraying (as they supposed to). They didn't know the man behind it, most normal queens make this distinction clear.
His family loved the guy himself, not the character he was playing, so it's natural for them to grieve him that way

I had a fag hag girlfriend that watched the show when it was really low budget and was on Oxygen? The first season had a tattooed Puerto Rican that looked creepy and called everyone "loca." There was also a contestant who was quite proud of looking like Justin Bieber. Funny how the network allowed him to do a lot of tranny puns until that was verboten. Sharon Needles and Alaska had a sense of humor and did edgy drag. There is/was a user here with their profile pic of Alaska as a Manson family member (?) with the swastika near the glabella like the rest of the cult had. It was such a weird show to watch, seeing the cattiness of everyone and hearing drag terminology and slang becoming somewhat mainstream.

Speaking of, Gottmik, can someone explain what the fuck goes on in her head?
Pooner Supreme.
All I know about this show since I don't watch it cause i'm not a fag or a woman is that there's been at least a few people on it who have either been exposed as sexpests and pedos and a bunch who have had pre-mature deaths because of AIDS.
What's great about this comment is that it works for any TV show.

Gendering with drag is weird because being a drag queen was the original mockery of troons. Imagine it more like calling Jimmy Neutron a boy because he appears as a boy in the show, despite his voice actor being a woman. That is probably the logic of the producers and any seasoned watcher of the show.

From the article, my guess was the producers were mourning the character he played and the family was grieving the actor himself. Although this was the case for a long time, where the act and actor were separate, troon drag queens have infested the community and attempted to erase that space between actor and character.

They also both got caught up in controversy back in 2021 when there were pedophile allegations made against them. The allegations are really bizarre, with Annecy, the victim who was fifteen at the time when it supposedly happened in 2014, saying that Sharon exposed himself/physically assaulted her, told her to cut herself "pretty," that she should take pills, and sent her CSAM. Alaska also allegedly exposed himself to her.

Here is Sharon posing with Annecy when she was fifteen, and also a photo of Annecy as the dog for The Wizard of Oz, with various other adult drag queens playing the rest of the characters, Sharon playing the wicked witch herself.

Neither one of them was cancelled for this as Annecy had minimum proof other then she was good friends with them, from what I have seen. Ironically enough, Sharon admitting to saying the nigger word constantly behind stage was what got him cancelled, not any of this.

Now that's a name I've not heard in a very long time.

I used to watch the show some years ago before Covid, and at the time the only place to really discuss it was on Reddit. There was the main sub and predictably, splinters that splintered because fags love to argue with each other over the pettiest shit. Sometimes super fans would get mentioned (a) and that's how I heard about Annecy. At one point Annecy dropped a Google Doc which ended up posted on the main sub (a). The doc's since been deleted but the comments have quite a few quotes of what was in there if you want a general idea. There was much criticism of Annecy's mother, which I don't think was unwarranted considering the age gap between her and Sharon, let alone the accusations.

I've not been around that bit of Reddit for an incredibly long time but there's also whole heaps of drama involving the various subs and how the schism widened once Phedre (Reddit powerjanny) ended up on the mod team and the whole Brandgate fiasco (a). If you're looking for stuff specifically on the queens, r/RPDRDRAMA and r/rpdrcringe are goldmines. There was also a crossover with Jackie Cox (drag queen) getting one of the mods and spoiler leakers cancelled which ended up on SubredditDrama (a).

I see potential for this thread but ARCHIVE. I can't stress enough how important that is with these people, especially if you're going through the massive repository of info on the subreddits. That Google Doc's already lost from years ago, which is a shame. If you don't know how or need a refresher, Null has a guide and it doesn't take long to do. Also it helps get around paywalls like there was on that Vulture article, and Tor users don't get told to fuck off by various sites. Am happy to give a hand with archiving or digging things up if you want!

Following the leaked cast of Season 19 being released, one of the newly listed cast members, Tammy Faye (real name Gaige Brown), is under hot water for saying he voted for Trump. As the season just began filming, members of the community are calling for the season to be cancelled or for the queen to be removed from the competition.

He claimed in a video on TikTok and an interview that he voted for Trump.

Gaige later walked back these claims, saying that he never said any of this and that it was a lie.

Gaige's prior "drag-mother" Genesis Leland Hughes, a current show director of Alabama/drag queen, has also confirmed publicly that he is in the competition and actively filming, meaning Gaige likely violated his NDA.

What's funny is even hardcore fans of the show do not give a fuck about the current season. If they want to continue interest it's best if the entire franchise takes a year long hiatus. Back before season 7 I swear it was one season a year!
Apparently this season is comparable or higher in viewership compared to other recent seasons. The average viewer doesn't seem tired of the show but it looks like the online fandom is getting more and more bored.

This doesn't really feel like a thread that needed to go through a Prospering Grounds phase at all, it's just talking about a TV show. I think this could have just been thrown up in Gorl Talk, right next to the "big fat teenage whores on VH1" threads with no objections. Or even Multimedia, but I doubt that's what any of you want for it. What is the intended final destination of this thread?

I agree with this fully, but I'm unsure on how to move the thread elsewhere. Thank you for the advise!

This is something that is often spread around due to the fact that the show is very vague with their numbers, making it look like they're constantly breaking records every season. But this hasn't been true in a while.

The best breakdown that I saw was from a biased source, Bussy Queen, a popular drag race YouTuber who makes videos on the franchise, who broke down viewership numbers over the past few seasons from what was publicly available.

gaydata.png

You can see by the numbers he got from Wikipedia that viewership peaked around Season 9 and hasn't been nearly as high since. Season 9 premiered in 2017. There was a sudden bump around Season 14 which premiered in 2022, but besides that the numbers haven't been looking good.

I know that the source isn't the best (Wikipedia) and the person explaining the information is biased, but I think this shows how bad things have been for the show lately even from a biased perspective. Despite the optical illusion they put up each season, the show is certainly struggling.

For the second-to-last episode this season ( Season 18 ) where they usually have a mix of popular songs from current pop-culture, they decided to make the music only songs made/licensed by RuPaul himself to save budget. This episode actually did very well in the public eye, so maybe that will lead to more changes in format for the future.

They also changed the winners prize for the first time in a while from a life-time supply of makeup from Anastasia Beverly Hills to an official makeup collaboration with Anastasia Beverly Hills.
