Rich Men North of Richmond - Indie country anthem that calls out DC elites, Epstein Island, the surveillance state and general state of the world.

Oh my God, Oliver Anthony isn't an AF White Nationalist!?! Surely, he's no true Scotsman to me, pass the Crickets, please.

The Melting Pot is a traditional view, it's about being American first and race second. Melting Pot isn't the current administration globohomo plan of pouring Adobo and Curry sauce into the pot until it over flows.
"Free white men of good character" is the traditional view (1790 Naturalization Act). Melting pot is post WWII nonsense designed to breakdown the biological integrity of the United States.

If the government is entirely corrupt that means you have to overthrow it and they are lazy. It's literally just laziness. They want to stay home and goon and will accept any excuse to think staying at home gooning and just voting for puppets like AOC will actually improve things.

they are well fed... well fed people got too much to lose to start revolutions

MovieBob wishes to remind you that "I don't see race" is racist to the extreme.

What does healthcare have to do if you are "putting on the pounds"? It is just about eating less, nothing to do with getting opioids or other drugs. Is this some bullshit HAES where you get fat because of other issues, with no link to what you eat?

Culture war is a distraction!!! Stupid women, stop complaining about "sex" being erased and having to share a jail cell with a man! Apparently forest fires, which are mainly set by arsonists, are the problem of our generation

Wisdom this man has shared in the past:

'Cancel culture' doesn't stifle debate, but it does challenge the old order

Further proof that punk rockers are idiots and their opinions on anything should be disregarded as soon as they are uttered.

Also LOL at the people comparing him with Pete Seeger. Pretty sure the niggers whose panties are twisted over Oliver's song are acting the same way the folks Pete offended when singing Solidarity Forever.

Just incredible "right wing" grifting going on from this lad. He disgusts me but at the same time he almost played it perfectly

You better join a union, brother
Organise today
Why? So the union higher-ups can pocket my paycheck and the "comrades" can get in shouting matches over seniority and who has to do what job?

Fuck that. I was pro-union until I had to deal with those pricks.

And no, sexualizing and fucking kids is not a "distraction". We kick down sex pests and criminal sociopaths for a very good reason. If you can't keep your dick in your pants around kids, then you don't deserve to exist.

Medications can make the weight gain worse. Especially ones that slow your metabolism down or mess with your hormones.

Just passing by to let you know that even though this guy is a complete basic conservative boomer full of naive takes about how bad the left is the entire Mainstream Media is having a meltdown over the fact he DARED mention things like welfare queens and empty virtue signal politics.

3 articles virtually at the same time.

Archive The protest song that’s taken America by storm hits too many false notes (He is attacking the poor but not the rich guys!)
Archive Oliver Anthony and the ‘mainstreaming’ of conspiracy theories (MUH QANON!!!)
Archive The Right Has Already Turned on Their Appalachian Folk Hero (Some people called out his takes as naive guys, he is over!)

It doesn't matter that he pretty much a 2008 average american. He dared speak ill of sacred cows and given the MAGAts something to enjoy so the Media needs to ensure you know how evil he is.

What does healthcare have to do if you are "putting on the pounds"?
There's this lefty notion that without universal healthcare, people somehow are left ignorant to the fact that goyslop is bad for you.

Of course, "muh healthcare" is some combination of paraphilia and religious sacrament to lefties, which is why so many of them are Munchies.

Medications can make the weight gain worse. Especially ones that slow your metabolism down or mess with your hormones.

A lot of meds get blamed for weight gain, and a lot do have weight gain listed as a side effect for liability reasons.

It's actually murky which meds ACTUALLY cause weight gain independently and which ones are being scapegoated.

Glucocorticoids (steroids) will certainly cause weight gain if taken orally and chronically, but they are rarely used long-term IRL outside of the worst-of-the-worst asthma and inflammatory bowel disease.

The other class of drugs notorious for causing weight gain are antipsychotics. But by definition, if you are on these drugs long-term, you are already fucked in the head.

Women complain about weight gain from oral contraceptives frequently, but the actual data I saw long ago suggested it wasn't actually the meds outside of 5 lbs or so.

Americans should hate the reasons people are poor rather than the people themselves

There's a number of problems with this incredibly over simplification using a quote from Woody Guthrie completely getting what happened in the Bible wrong so he can make toe tapping song. Jesus specifically spoke of charity in Roman occupied Israel. Rome had no social programs comparable to what we have in the states, much less so for their far reaching conquered territories, much less so for those conquered people. The one time Jesus told some rando directly to sell all of his belongings and follow Him was a test for the rich man which the rich man failed. To top it off, the Bible itself, New Testament even, states that if you willingly do not work you do not get to eat.
2 Thessalonians 3:10 dijo:
For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat.

What Ollie is singing about is the frustration so many Americans feel because there is a part of our society that we keep getting chided about because we are the havers and they are the have notters. They are already a burden that we are expected to take care of with our tax dollars who produce next to if not literally nothing. Our tax dollars feed them, clothe them, house them, nurses them back to health, and those people do nothing on their part to take care of or manage what they've been given. It is charity that we are forced to partake in at the end of a barrel of a gun.

This beatification of poor people just because they're poor is retarded. I've known plenty of people who don't have two dimes to rub together that are abhorrent pieces of shit. Those people stay poor because they choose to. I can dislike them and the assholes at the top who see us all as a number on a spread sheet.

Not to be outdone by the libs; National Review's Mark Antonio Wright gives this piece of shit opinion.

Oliver Anthony’s Fuzzy Lament

Last week, Oliver Anthony’s song “Rich Men North of Richmond” went supernova.

In a world full of Nashville pop-country sludge, Anthony sings with an authentic passion, and many people were instantly taken with his raw and raspy voice. In just the time that you may have been on summer vacation, he came out of nowhere, going from a complete unknown to a musical celebrity as the song spread virally on YouTube and Twitter.

That’s a great American story, but I don’t understand the adulation on the right for this song’s message.

Anthony sings:

I’ve been sellin’ my soul, workin’ all day
Overtime hours for bullshit pay
So I can sit out here and waste my life away
Drag back home and drown my troubles away

My brother in Christ, you live in the United States of America in 2023 — if you’re a fit, able-bodied man, and you’re working “overtime hours for bullshit pay,” you need to find a new job.

There’s plenty of them out there — jobs that don’t require a college degree, that offer good pay (especially in this tight labor market) and great benefits, especially if you’re willing to get your hands dirty by doing things like joining the Navy, turning wrenches, fixing pumps, laying pipe, or a hundred other jobs through which American men can still make a great living. If you’re the type of guy who’s willing to show up on time, every time, work hard while you’re on the clock, and learn hard skills — there’s a good-paying job out there for you. Go find it.

And if you go home and spend all night drowning your troubles away — either on TikTok or by drinking too much — my friend, that’s your fault, not Washington’s. Not that Washington is helping any — it’s not. But when we waste our lives, it’s still our own fault.

Young men are puttin’ themselves six feet in the ground
’Cause all this damn country does is keep on kickin’ them down

The tragedy of young men killing themselves through drink or drugs — the catastrophe of deaths of despair — is a crisis of our own making. The federal government in Washington — Anthony’s “rich men north of Richmond” — has had a destructive role in our society. But Washington is not the cause of our national sickness; it’s a symptom.

We, as citizens, as men, still hold it in our power to ignore the corrosive effects of our politics and the popular culture and get on with living the good life: get a job, get married, raise your kids up right, get involved with your church, read good books, teach your boys to hunt, be present in the lives of your family and friends, help your neighbors.

It’s a damn shame what the world’s gotten to
For people like me and people like you
Wish I could just wake up and it not be true
But it is, oh, it is

Yes — it is a damn shame what the world’s gotten to. But we can fix it. We don’t have to just dream about it. Indeed, if we want to, we can fix it on our own even if Washington is standing in our way or looking down its nose at us. I don’t expect Oliver Anthony — or any singer-songwriter — to put a fully formed philosophy in a three-minute song, and I don’t need to agree with its message to enjoy it: There’s always room for Etta James to sing the blues. Steve Miller Band’s “The Joker” is a masterpiece, even if I’m done living that particular kind of life. And Woody Guthrie is a genius, even if his politics were juvenile and absurd.

I wish Oliver Anthony the best, and I’ll give his next single a listen, but he should consider singing about what makes America a great land — a land of opportunity, not of guaranteed success.

It’s a land that’s made for you and me.
Who the fuck gonna work the jobs no one wants because they pay shit Antino. How about you pay people better you simp for temporarily embarrassed millionaires. How about you take some personal accountability at how shit the last 40 years have been. Whole industries are gone from this county to be done by the Chinese. Was that the factory workers fault. Is it the fault of the fast food employee that they work all day and can't afford the cost of living no matter how hard they budget. Have you even watched Trainspotting the ultimate refutation of neoliberalism with a side of heroin. yvan eht yvaN get PTSD from killing little Arab kids. Wreck your back and knees for the capitalist caste. Get fuck all as a reward.

How about this People who work full time can afford a dwelling, food, a wife and family etc. regardless of what occupation that is getting up in the morning and working means you actually get PPPAID.

Aw jeez. I'm sorry. You probably won't believe me but not every local is like that. Some unions are still good. Sadly rare.
At this rate, Good unions will be more harder to find than an needle in a haystack.

Meanwhile, some think that song scared some Democraps, I mean Democrats.

'Rich Men North of Richmond' is dangerous to the Democrat party

By D. Parker

Something amazing is happening in the world today: a stunning majority are viewing or listening to — dare we say it? — the conservative anthem "Rich Men North of Richmond." And people are agreeing with its straightforward sentiments, sung with forceful emotion out of increasing frustration at the "progression" of our world toward totalitarian oblivion.
At the same time, a tiny, insignificant portion of the population have figured out that the words condemn them for putting everyone else in this position in their obsession with enriching and empowering themselves at the expense and the freedom of everyone else.
The anthem shows the nation's socialist left doesn't care about people.

If you've watched many of the heartwarming reaction videos, or this compilation, you will see that it's a cultural touchstone with almost everyone, without regard to the usual superficial distinctions used to divide us. And at the risk of interjecting politics into the subject of politics, that's the real problem the far left has with this cultural phenomenon. Leftists' tried-and-true tactic is to find some trivial distraction to talk about so they can avoid the real issue. In this case, it's the line about "fudge rounds" while everyone else has a big problem with inflation, over-taxation, and a surveillance state that leftists are implementing as fast as they can deny it.
There is nothing like a great piece of music to bring people together and reveal the truth.
Edit: Some high school kids sing the song on team bus.

Doubtful we'll hear that in the NYC subway.
