What actually ends up happening is the EBT card is used at the convenience store to buy 30 bucks worth of Red Bull, Chocolate and Funyuns. And why? Because Coke, Pepsi, Con-Agra and Monsanto don't make any money if the poor unwashed used their benefits to buy lettuce and cheese. So they successfully lobbied the Government to make EBT available for things that could charitably be called "Food".

If the government really wanted to help these poor people they would provide the food to them directly and ensure that the food was both nutritious and not tainted with genetically modified seeds or anything of the sort, almost like a food drive for the whole nation and not just for those who can't afford to pay a dollar here and there when they buy groceries.

This would require a government that actually cared about its citizens though.

This is not true at all. The price of a large bag of Cheeto's at 7-11, a Can of Red Bull and a Hershey bar is around $12. $12 at say, Trader Joes, can net you a head of lettuce and half a pound of chicken breast. Which after a little baking, and some oil and vinegar you should have on a shelf, can make a pretty good salad topped with chicken. Especially if you use another $5 worth of EBT for other things carrot and onion. At that point it could feed 2 adults and 2 kids.

If you want to go even cheaper, 12 bucks can net you a small hunk of Parmesan cheese, a box of Spaghetti and two cans of tomatoes. Turn those tomato cans into sauce, top it over the spaghetti and sprinkle the cheese. Again, easily serves 2 adults and 2 kids.

The Can of Red Bull, Hershy Bar and Cheeto's doesn't even provide ONE adult necessary nutrition.

The biggest complaint against SNAP/EBT is not the concept of it. Its how its been structured, for the benefit of processed food corporations over actually providing nutrition. Its a fucking scam for taxpayer money to go to big corpo.

I think this instantly debunks the "industry plant" allegations. No one who was being "astroturfed" (what, did his manager pay YouTube to artificially boost his view count or something?) would turn down a big record deal like that.
