I doubt in a way he even told his own mother to go away - something took their souls away. We will see in 2 years tho.
He said his mother was a cunt so the hive's attempts to manipulating him with that failed
Like those birds in africa flying circles a above a corpse.
Vultures bruh, vultures, and it happens everywhere

And the memories, of the like 50 years of dyking around the only thing the hive takes is the memories with carol? what I'm saying of the hive being a distributed database is what vince wants, not whats possible with that shitty radio of them

That boomer has also been comparing the hive to ai, he has not fucking idea how any of this shit would work and is just making shit up like a redditfag

Shower thoughts: Given that there are people who got assimilated completely and some that died. Is there possibility for some to be half-done with the process? They are turned into zombies while they have to observe it.

Hey, everyone. I absolutely loved Pluribus, although many might disagree.
Does the show at least have the balls to argue we should kill the hivemind no matter who dies in the process (the based slav final solution), or is it a faggy moral that we should live with it (the faggy Japanese non-solution).
It was rather hypocritical of the Carol girl telling the Pajeeta not to get PsyOp'd by her "kid," as she ended up railing the pirate lady, AKA seven billion "people" at the same time.
Yeah, it's hilarious how all of them are 100% down with it and only the white American sees anything wrong with it. And of course the black guy starts fucking all the women lmfao.
Hilarious. The thing that bothered me throughout the series was how the concept of a hive mind is antithetical to "s-she loves me," "I've got a connection with her" and so on. Of course one can't expect the nigger to understand abstract concepts. Nor the Pajeeta. Huh. Okay, nevermind, the series makes me even more sense now. Incredibly logical.
The part I hated the most was when they gathered her packages and you would think she will receive something special instead it was an ad/product placement for a massage gun at least it wasn't turned into a full ad with the hive giving her a massage with it
I thought it was relevant but then, for some reason, nothing happened? It was like "OMG she bought me an item I will never use!" Okay...
I saw a comment elsewhere that the hypothetical end goal of this virus is to utilize all of Earth's resources to replicate the same signal humans received, as the virus is compelled to ensure everyone is linked in its state of bliss.
Right on the money, what the fuck.
Carol will reveal to the other immune that the hive has been eating the dead. They won't believe her. She will confront the hive and they will say that they do not want to waste food and call back to the vegetarian scene in episode 2. 43 minutes of filler.
Right on the money again, what the fuck.

Lol.

This is one of the few series I could actually watch all the way through without getting a DEI overdose. I will admit, since I watched the entire thing in two days I didn't let the concept simmer down in my head. It reminds me of Dark Matter. God, I loved that shit.
All I could think about was what I could do with a knowledge pool consisting of the lived experiences and learning of billions of people, but then I remembered Google and AI exists. That was a tough realization.
  • What would you do if you had the chance to tell billions of people to do whatever you wish? Get better clothes? To impress who? Become a writer, learn how to sing and dance, do sports? Why—no competition will ever feel right again and no mere individual will be able to cherish your creations. It seems as though billion-human soup makes things stale, boring, soul-less. Ooh, wee, is the series a critique of AI?
  • I did notice how, not once, the characters mentioned AI. So, what, AI is gone now?
  • I also feel like the series constantly pressing on the happiness bit was rather cringe: "I'm a sad, sad, lesbian woman and that makes me superior to the billion-human hivemind!" was a bit tough to watch.
  • The series ended by day 74, I think. The fact that they could think collectively for a few seconds and come up with an answer for pretty much every question was wild, but considering how it was revealed, by the end, that they were using Carol's eggs to turn them into stem cells to make a "cure" to her immunity, it seems retarded that it had taken them so long:
The process of converting a human oocyte (egg) into a stable embryonic stem cell (ESC) line via Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer (SCNT)—often termed "therapeutic cloning"—is a multi-stage procedure that typically spans 2 to 3 weeks from the initial biopsy to the establishment of a validated, self-renewing cell line.
Three weeks? You're telling me they had, what, fifty days to spare and the retarded pirate lady goes "uhm we're gonna need at least a month, maybe two or three"? 150 days to remove Carol off the board? I call bullshit.
  • I also find it amusing how the Paraguayan guy learned so much stuff during the series considering how little time he had interacted with The United, as compared to the fucking wailing protagonist that wouldn't shut up about the wife she had, despite being absolutely exhausting to be around. Not to make a misogynistic comment but, uh...
  • The whole "I'm a rich married lesbian but I'm miserable because I write fem-slop for a living" bit felt like a warm hug to my cold and putrid heart. I needed that.
  • I don't mean to sound dumb here but why did Carol ask to have an atom bomb by her front lawn?

They are turned into zombies while they have to observe it.
I don't know what you meant by that but we didn't get to see that. Still, when the pirate girl ended up in the hospital from the grenade LOL-asco, They said that some were recovering from drug addiction. So, apparently, regardless of whether they were drug addicts or not, they could both endure the infection, as well as get turned.
I agree that the infection produces some sort of "fake happiness" because there's so much horrible shit that humans and despite that They're constantly saying "Fun fact!" and giving presents.

I don’t think deaths caused by the infection were caused by the infection, but as a result of what they were doing when infected. For example, I don’t think Carol’s wife died due to the infection but due to the damage caused by her head smacking against the pavement when she collapsed. Unless I’m mistaken it hasn’t been said or implied that anyone died just from the effects of the virus on their body.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Pluribis. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Carol's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- her personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Pluribus truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Carol's existential catchphrase "Fuck," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Vince Gilligan's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂

And yes, by the way, i DO have a Pluribus tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😎

I assumed her death due to falling was improbable due to her age and lack of blood coming out of her head. Yes, yes, she could've bled out internally, but I do recall her having red marks on her face as she died.
This one went through it and survived:

It was also stated that Helen survived the infection but died shortly after so maybe you're right. Hm...

That crack was really pronounced

Yes.
Yet another ambivalent utterance I recall was the, uh, Undersecretary of Agriculture and-something-else, I forgot—he said that a lot of senior politicians died that day, so it could've been either due to the infection being taxing on the brain, or they just fell and died as they were getting turned. I just find it hard to believe that all of these people died from falling or similar accidents.

. The hive admitted that they picked Zosia to be Carol's personal servant because she resembled the man from the covers of her book, which I took to mean that Carol wanted to write that character as her ideal woman. That's just headcanon at the end, but it makes it make more sense to me.

Carol does mention earlier that she did want to write Raban as female but didn't because it wouldn't go over as well. So I've wondered if they looked into Helen's memories and specifically sent Zosia for that reason. Not just because she resembled Raban. Because they actually did know Raban was originally supposed to be female.

Anyway, the show is too normie light sci fi to go into any juicy specifics about the virus. But I think I already understood that going in. I was just hoping for more. But the hive mind doesn't really understand it well either. And that hive contains the most brilliant minds in the world. The virus is explained as not really being a virus in the traditional sense. It's some kind of coded radio wave that interacts with RNA. Manousos tries to cure that guy with his radio tuned the the frequency he had marked in his book.

Zosia says they want to send the virus out into space to spread it. They have a biological imperative to do so. That alone made me think it's actually malicious. The signal originated from Kepler 22b. If you are not familiar it's one of the most famous exoplanets discovered. It's in the habitable zone of its star, is a super Earth and could harbor life. It's in the constellation Cygnus. Zosia says about the inhabitants "We don't know them but we love them". The infected can't actually feel other beings in the universe though. The hive mind seems to end at Earth.

My theory is that it's possible the beings on Kepler 22b are already dead. They received the signal from elsewhere themselves. Who knows how many other civilizations fell victim. They became a hivemind with the same problem the Earth hive mind has. Their inability to even pick an apple off a tree will cause them all to starve to death once they run out of dead bodies to eat and preserved foods. They are driven by the biological imperative to send the signal out into space to "spread the joy". Shortly after sending it towards Earth they all die of starvation. Earth is just another link in the chain. It's like the chain letter from Hell.

Well I'm probably wrong and it's something more simple or some big 'ol alien kumbaya by a race of space hippies.

Military tactic is to first remove the leaders so I laughed a lot at this "friendly bug"

If they were smart, in between seasons they should do a Q&A(or an AMA for predditors) for the hive mind. It would keep excitement up for the next season, and it would give them an opportunity to answer some of the questions that we’re never going to get a smart enough character to ask in the show. They could even ignore questions that would spoil the plot but still answer fun questions like, “what effect do all the murderers and rapists have on the hive mind” or “who really shot JFK.”

Just finished watching the whole first season. I’m wondering what the whole Carol and ice symbolism is supposed to mean. Carol froze her eggs, the flashback we see with her and her lover is in a Norwegian ice hotel, and then Carol and Zosia’s little getaway in the last episode is at a ski lodge.

My spouse thinks the show is partially a metaphor for the COVID-19 response and how society forcibly made everyone submit to the RNA treatment despite their personal feelings, which I think is an interesting take.

Also yeah Manusous is a badass and I look forward to seeing more of him.

I think it's literally just what they're showing. Carol is a frigid old lesbian grappling with menopause and the slow, sinking realization that she will be alone her entire life. Her whole character arc so far has revolved around that isolation and alienation, and the way the secondary characters relate to Carol are often tied into that theme, too - for example, most of the "survivor" characters who hate her and her plan to beat the aliens (Poojita et al; Elvis Rape Nigger is the only exception) are siding with the aliens because they have families, and still feel warmth and attachment to their families, even though technically their families were all eaten by the alien brain virus. You can really see that in the final episode, where the aliens keep playing family with the Peruvian girl until they get her to huff the brain drugs, after which the entire facade goes away. Families don't actually matter to the aliens; every infected is just an interchangeable, walking meatsack who owns nothing and is happy. But families matter to the uninfected, hence the continued play acting.

The cozy toasty ski lodge in the final episode might represent how Girl Raban is manipulating Carol into letting her guard down and "warming up" to the idea of both dyking out with Girl Raban, and of siding with the alien brain eaters more broadly, and in general I think the ice imagery is just there to represent Carol's varying degrees of isolation and barrenness.

Military tactic is to first remove the leaders so I laughed a lot at this "friendly bug"
They specifically mention the military tactics, too; I forget which episode it was, but it was just after Carol asks about the fates of astronauts, submariners, and guards at Area 51. Girl Raban says something to the effect of "key government, military, and scientific personnel were targeted first", so that if/when a leak happened and they had to accelerate their infection (which did wind up being the case), they'd be able to quickly and effectively infect everyone else.

It wasn't just a matter of them snuffing half the White House; they made methodical, surgical attacks on every key piece of human infrastructure they could find, before the indiscriminate chemtrail/COVID bombing began.

Re: the people dying, several times we got a Chekov's Gun type shot of a person with blood coming out of their mouths. I guess it's possible that everyone who died, died due to some random injury they suffered while having that first seizure, but I think the implication was that some people just flat out DIED for no apparent reason. The same way many people just DIE whenever one of the survivors screams at them. My guess is that this will come up again in later seasons, like maybe everyone who died had a certain genetic defect that interfered with the infection, or maybe something about their mindset or personality made them incompatible with the hivemind?

Carol does mention earlier that she did want to write Raban as female but didn't because it wouldn't go over as well. So I've wondered if they looked into Helen's memories and specifically sent Zosia for that reason. Not just because she resembled Raban. Because they actually did know Raban was originally supposed to be female.
I think this was mentioned too, or if not, I'm pretty much certain it's the case. The hivemind knows Carol's a lesbian, and knows that Raban represents both her desire to dyke it out with a hot pirate lady, and her insecurities, misgivings about, and unwillingness to, actively and openly embrace her lesbian desires. Carol doesn't have a family, at least not now that Helen is dead, but she DOES have a waifu that she fakes straight for her audience of hetero book-reading normies, and that's the in the hivemind needs to manipulate her.

God what a waste of 9 hours.
There were two good episodes; the first, and the last. Manusous is the only character who actually is sensible and likable, Carol spends the entire 9 episodes being a moody cunt. Please kill her off next season and make this all about Manusous saving the world.

The same way many people just DIE whenever one of the survivors screams at them.
Maybe, but that's like turning them off from the mothership signal and it borks them up.
My guess is that this will come up again in later seasons, like maybe everyone who died had a certain genetic defect that interfered with the infection, or maybe something about their mindset or personality made them incompatible with the hivemind?
second + useless to the hive. Broken/hurt ants are discarded and hive has to be efficient to meet its goal of spreading their infection elsewhere. They may emit wrong frequency, act weirdly with signal etc.
No reason why this virus wouldn't infect monkeys etc - it did infect micelings. Can they be connected to the hive and the single thought is "more cheeese"?

You saw it cut power to everything then it was "oops, I'm sorry you daff lesbian, let's turn lights on just for you"
I would imagine it is re-transmitting the signal already from local tv and other towers and once hellen spazzes out they clear whole city because the signal is "contaminated" in that area
She is also Thanos&Gamora doing the soul stone thing reinvented: She loves noone so she's immune to systems - be one with us idea. She's just horny and lonely which she finds out soon that hive understood that and kept her busy until there was a way to make her irrelevant.
It has no problem stocking her with drugs like morphine and alcohol and knows if there's no way to convert her, they'll just drink her to death or do some other crap like put her in danger by the wolves and so on.

Please kill her off next season and make this all about Manusous saving the world.
While I agree. I have to say the hive does have no interest in being saved. It just wants to infect everyone. You saw it with the girl - supposedly they are successful. That wanna be president guy offered to kill and pick food for them but they disagreed.

Pure mathematical logic is that with limited amount of food, you kill the excess stock to feed the rest and extend the rations.
For hive, "other losses" are acceptable as it shares nothing with them and only sees them as burden.
If you saw, the alcoholics and some other people were being treated, yet no new drugs were being produced.
Are disabled people just discarded? Diabetics off insulin ? You saw there are noone around. Are they fixed by the virus thing or are they just in massive pain, but kept functional thru pure mind control.
People in sugar crash/coma would be major anchor for the virus. They would stay alive and away just long enough to be seriously infected, then comatose as medication runs out ruining the signal.

Hive has no problem with dead people, but with drugged ones, they take serious offense.
Headache as hellen doped up her favorite fucktoy is signal drifting off?

Sauceyah (Zosshya) is a 3rd world woman with no ties to that place. I haven't figured out if she represents some ME or Indian turdhole.
Anyone nearby/close/common would upset the lesbian fantasy and it's what Ramén was approximated to.
How hive figured out what Hell-en wants is a mistery. Sure, she wrote a book, but at least part of it was fantasy and hive has no idea what's going on in her head - maybe for now anyway.
