Nigger I been to paraguay they are flooded with the latest electronics because they have no import taxes so its cheap as hell, stop talking shit like that when even literal niggers in literal african shitholes have smartphones
I still think it's a silly nitpick, it's not IMPOSSIBLE some guy has old stuff like that. Crazy autistic thing to rage about to me, but whatever.

once again that is just an example, the entirety of the paraguay scenes scream 1985, the only part that is remotely realistic is him driving an old car, everything else is downright funny.
its hard to take seriously a show that pretends to be highbrow and well thought of when it drops a gem like that

There's two reasons. USA viewers > Paraguay viewers, so seeing them with a bit older tech looks 'right'.

Or else it's plausible for a guy in that situation to have older stuff as a storage op. Either works for me. We're getting to the point where having an optical drive on a computer might seem 'omg that' sooooooooo 2012 and that's impossible now!' silly.

There are people with old cars and tech in the USA still. Like I said, the bigger 'tech' problem was Carol flushing an intact SD card without overwriting or bitlockering it with a random key, and just flushing it. And having a whiteboard that they can just see anytime.

This seems like butthurt 3rd worlders complaints really that they aren't behind in consumer tech.

to be fair its never said or show directly that they don't known about it, in fact i wouldn't be surprised if this was used as a plot twist "tool" in season 2, as in they have always knew about it and just didn't tell her.
An even bigger problem with this show is what happens if carol and manuosos win and turn the collective off: then what? The chaos worldwide would completely collapse civilization, it would take decades if not centuries for humanity to return to its 2025 state and i wouldn't be surprised if Carol and Manuosos got lynched for it. Any other ending would be pure cope but i doubt Vince has the balls to do this ending, it would make the ending of Threads (1983) look optimistic by comparison.

Yeah, there's a lot of potential. It's limited somewhat in the sci-fi realm that there won't be some space-war of species, I suppose (that would be awesome though).

Season 3 of BSG ended with a 'dark threads nuked 2nd earth' totally doomed, but led on from there. The only thing I don't like is the 2+ year season gaps expected.

There's a lot of options now, from curing everyone, to 13 getting converted, to just containing and it on Earth and sacrificing to blow up the transmitter, or it keeps spreading.

I like the show because there's a lot of options the writers can go to now. That is kind of rare for modern shows to have options like this that have so many various outcomes possible.

It could end up like a 1984 style 'we know everything', which would be good I think. Or maybe they don't and there's something else going on. This show has a really high potential good (smart) vs bad(stupid) down the line I haven't seen often.

ETA, I think the people thinking that Carol would be ultra IQ tops needs to realize she's a woke author, and still pretty much as good or better than the other 12 so far. I know on here we like to think we'd be the ones and we'd have ultra encrypted Linux systems to record things on, but even Dread Pirate Roberts (Ross William Ulbricht) got taken technically by the slightest screw up.

In ciudad del este and other free trade zones this is true, but outside of the freeports, taxes are heavy. You also have to contend with the fact that the majority of the population in Paraguay is poor as dirt even today, so even tax free electronics are beyond their reach. People hold on to stuff that works for as long as it continues to work.

Source: me, who has also visited Paraguay and has business contacts out there, and who got a decent laptop in ciudad del este at a bargain price back in 2007.

Yeah this was complete garbage. Is Gilligan a hack that was mostly lifted up by Peter Gould?
Gilligan's style is to just steal from other shows and movies and dumb them down for people who watch on their phones. Then those same people become offended when you point out the mediocrity that they watch. And tremble and seethe when you laugh at "Fly" episode or all of Pluribus.

classic case of a hack accidentally lucking out with one of his works and everyone thinking he is a genius, Zach Snyder is the exact same thing

Show me people eating each other. Show me the hive mind mass-suiciding the ill and infirm by starvation. Show me the utter chaos caused by doing dumb shit like letting all the zoo animals (and presumably farm animals) free. Show me a fucking alien saucer hovering above the white house with a bunch of little green men laughing about how soon they'll own the earth. Ask some moral questions, actually ASK the questions don't just allude to them. Have Carol straight up tell the hivemind to its face that it murdered billions of people by taking over their minds and effectively wiping their brains clean and get hysterical when it tries to gaslight her otherwise. Have the hivemind say some wild shit like "free will is like an addiction to crystal meth and we had to detox you" because it's a weird alien intelligence (even if it's made of humans) and its morals don't make sense from a human perspective. Approach the idea that maybe the hivemind is also a sort of afterlife if it can back up the knowledge of everyone in it. Ask if the hivemind can "pretend" to be individuals, or if it can even comprehend the concept of individuality, or if it can maybe link everyone without nuking their free will. Do SOMETHING besides wasting my time with melodrama that I could get from any show on TV.

The best parts of The Stand which stick in your mind are all the vignettes of what happens across the world as society breaks down. We got none of that with this show.

I just finished the show, it was pretty good. The last 4 episodes did a good job in showing Carol's lived fantasy wasnt that different from Diabate's despite his being more vulgar. She is typified by her lonliness and desire for connection to offset her fucked up youth. Diabate I think will have had a more materially complex origin that makes the whole James Bond thing more understandable. And he has not been anything but kind to Carol.

Manousos however is a real nigga, and despite being a maladjusted asshole, he's the only one who resists the Others unto death. His foundational tenet that the Others not only stole the people's souls but also they're property, and the earth itself was powerful scene. Unfortunately Gilligan is a star studded nigger so we'll only get a second season long after I have no interest in the series.

Discussing this show online with other people is like pulling teeth because the average normie is genuinely too retarded to understand the concept of a hivemind.

Half the people I talk too insist "No no, the people are happy, they're still in there!"

Hollywood jews have no fucking idea how the world is outside their fucking commie state, even when they show other parts of amerlardia they fuck it up

Example from xmen:

What it actually looks like irl:

Those dumb kikes turned a resort beach town into the fucking alps and you wonder why paraguay looks like that

Just watched it. I wanted to drop it for being woke, but it hid the woke lesbian stuff for just long enough to get me interested I guess.

Some of my thoughts -

No white male characters? Not even one? The creator, directors, writers, composer, and cinematographer of this show where all white men, yet, somehow, collectively, they have decided to just wipe themselves out from existence in the story. Very ironic given the themes of the show.

This show is basically soft propaganda for communism. Showing how smoothly things would work if we would just become selfless drones who work for the good of our comrades.

Defeating this hive mind seems incredibly easy. Just get one alone, and scream at it. Keep screaming at it for 3 days, and the whole lot of them will be dead from dehydration. The other 11 might try to stop you, but there is no way they can even reach you without their help.

I could point out holes and logical inconsistencies for days, but it's a bit pointless.

Prediction for season 2 - One person will be brought back from the hive, back to individualism. (Or more individuals will be added in another way, such as underground bunkers or what not) They need to do this to keep the number of individuals from falling too far as they die and get assimilated, and the show getting stale.

Prediction for show over all - Carol will save the world by writing a book.

P.s The guy has a VHS player because he is paranoid, not because he is poor.🙄 The hive transferred the video to tape for him because they knew he only watched tape.

And yet the main character, an American who embodies ideals rejected by nearly all of the countries that have un-hive minded people, is the hero of the story whom is trying to reverse everything.

She wants to free the people enslaved by the communist hivemind, not kill them all.
