The main issue here is that Tom perceives PCL as a convenient way to profit from Perry's fans. When Tom and Garrett complained about clip channels during 'Tom B Week' on their stream, it created the impression that they couldn't care less for their own community. It seemed as if they considered themselves above Perry's own fanbase. Fan channels that create clips of PCL do it out of affection for the show, and as you pointed out, it serves as free advertising, spreading the word about their show. It's perplexing because anyone with basic reasoning should be able to recognize this.

All this wouldn't be as egregious if they weren't monetizing absolutely everything they do. Their streams on Monday are usually behind a paywall.

I think it's him not being super familiar with how streaming really works. You want as many people clipping and talking about you as possible. It's one of those "all press is good press" type situations. The more clippers you have the more eyes you have on the channel the more money they bring in. They help you spread your content to audiences that might not know of your channel.
