Null should take the fucking money and run gambling ads.

Yeah and gambling is a destructive addiction. I dont care that its normalized.

On top of all the standard boilerplate that advertising is not endorsing and that the (at least contributing) typical purveyor of this site should not be susceptible to advertising at all:

Gambling is only destructive to the weak and those that are bad at math - i.e. people that deserve to be destroyed.

A kiwifarmer, of all people, should understand that.

And your solution to this is to allow ads from companies that are not only fully integrated into this future AI surveillance state but incredibly corrupt on top of it?
I don't see how running ads on a website has anything to do with it...
If you block the ads and trackers, you contribute nothing in revenue to the site, it's all about eyeballs, clicks and harvesting your data and the protections for that vs. your banking information are literally nonexistent. At least in the US, the EU is better about this with the GDPR but still not great.
I was strictly talking about a flat rate and/or sponsorship, not any click/impression-based deal. If I understand correctly, you are referring to using one of the multiple PII pixels (i.e. the one from Meta) , but that is a completely different thing that has absolutely nothing to do with this discussion.

It's the first step in taking over.

It would be okay if Saint Terry were still with us and also he were King grumblegrumble
Can't believe it's been almost eight years since he passed...shit.

That's the point I was trying to make, the more dependent you become upon ad revenue the more the terms will change to the benefit of the advertisers and their backers. They have the money and resources to strongarm the Farms into doing anything they want.

I'm trying to understand something. Currently, the options as far as Null is concerned is:
1) run ads
2) close the site down
3) ????
To me, it is clear that if the ad company/-ies asked Null to start tracking users, Null would not run ads. Which leads to ????, or closing the site down. So I just don't see a world in which ad companies would dictate how the site is run, because Null is already considering killing it if he can't fund the LFJ lawsuit.

Give him $20/month via billpay or crypto. It's not that hard.

Nobody is going to go after you for either option, you are not that important and if the shit hits the fan you'll be in the same place by virtue of being here whether you paid or not. At least in the former case you'll have tried to change things.

It sounds like you're just making excuses for not supporting the site. If you can't afford it, that's OK, I know many people are struggling and a large part of our userbase are poor college students. I've been there, believe me.

I can chip in a bit more to help out on your behalf.

Gambling is based, it doesn't shit up the place like porn ads, it's something you can't be tricked into thinking you need, it's just luxury gaming with higher risk.

The only real issue is if Null would feel bad for people who maybe got into it through the ads, which I assume he probably would, as he doesn't seem like an addictive personality-type, and a lot of normies have big conflicting feelings about anything that might lead people to bad habits. (Personally though I dont give a fuck, youre a grown person with your own agency and I got my own bad habits.)

How exactly would I be in the same place by virtue of being here? No personally identifiable information of mine is linked to this website. I even pass most of my posts through an AI text editor to anonymize the writing style. I don't understand this level of defeatism, do you browse the website from your home? Did you sign up with your official email? What gives

You're the one that sounds defeatist. Talking about bullshit social credit scores and how the AI surveillance state makes it impossible for you to donate money to the Farms.

And yes, I do browse the Farms from my home IP and make no efforts to conceal my identity. If they want to get me, they will, but at least I did my part to support this place before the shit hits the fan.

And you use an AI text editor to anonymize your writing style? Boy do I have news for you...

You convinced me. It would thin out the nigger cattle that use the farms. Would hurt nulls donations though to. Guess the ads would make up the difference.

>he thinks I upload my schizobabble to Claude
Can you please not consider me retarded, at least. I run everything locally. The docker container that runs my models has no network interface for this exact reason.
Unless you developed it entirely yourself those interested will be able to find similarities in your syntax and prose and connect it to those models. This is why I never use AI, I can speak for myself.

Also brother, I never considered you retarded, I just think you are misguided in your fears and concerns and have come up with a far worse solution to the problem. Like it or not, if what you think actually comes to pass we'll both be rounded up sooner or later.

Just do you part to support this place.

I think some people might not fully think through what gamblings ads mean.

If I am an advertiser, I'll run ads on most places where I get return on my investement. And that's key in this case.

If the ads don't convert in sales, then they won't last. So the tradeoff is actually to get your audience into gambling. Not just running ads nobody cares for.

So you're saying we need to run gas station boner pill ads, got it

I liked the idea of selling age verification keys at gas stations. Customers show ID and pay $1 cash to the jeets at 7/11 and then redeem the key online, maintaining anonymity for the most part. It's a good business model that would directly benefit the site on two fronts.

Tons of KF users kvetched when their gibs were threatened a few months ago, and you think offering them gambling is a good idea?
