I'm currently on episode 7. We learn that the Wesker we've been following in the show is a clone of the real Wesker, one of many. Real Wesker is Blade-Wesker, he cloned himself to make personal lab assistants. One of the clones is fake-Wesker's retarded brother Bert. We live in a universe where Wesker has a retarded brother named Bert.

A while ago I watched the Foundation series adaptation. It was extremely horrible (the books are great old school slow sci-fi...) but it made me think of modern adaptation from a slightly different perspective.
It seems that getting an original story out in Hollywood is really difficult. Everything is a sequel, reboot or an adaptation. All attempting to capitalise on brand-recognition more than quality and word of mouth. So what I think is happening is that Hollywood creatives show up with their own original idea and in order to get it made they wrap it in the flayed skin of a recognisable IP.

So that's probably why this series has little to no resemblance to Resident Evil (games or movies). They took their original story, slapped Wesker's name on a character that is not remotely like Wesker, threw in some recognisable names like Racoon City, T-Virus etc. just so they had enough of an excuse to call it Resident Evil. It also explains all the original characters because whatever original story they had had all these original characters.

They did the same thing in that god-awful Catwoman movie. Despite being called CATWOMAN and being released under the DC imprint with $100 million to back it, it had nothing to do with Batman, wasn’t set in Gotham, even the fucking main character isn’t even Selina Kyle, it’s Phillippa or some shit like that.

One of the IMDB reviews for the Resident Evil Netflix series. About 90% of the reviews for the show are exactly like this. God, I hate Ignorant people like this. Shows an extreme lack of intelligence. I hate some of the Resident Evil fanbase man.

Nyaa has gone under before. The current nyaa isn't the original. Just like the pirate bay they always have database dumps available so people can clone the site elsewhere.
 
Ya know, it feels like Netflix wanted 28 Days later and more that they wanted their own version of Walking Dead. Then again, after those scripts were leaked like last year something, I cant say Im surprised for anything. Also, why Wesker clones? Wouldnt it be easier to say he was just part of the Wesker program? In RE Revelations 2 the main badguy is a Wesker, but shes a chick.
 
I can't help but feel that some of this is being done on purpose as a joke.

As in, some normal people who liked the franchise ended up working on the show and were pumped as fuck about it until they saw the direction it was going so they snuck in a bunch of bizarre shit to get lulz on twitter or 4chan or whatever.

Either that or everyone involved is so poisoned by SJW shit that they genuinely don't see how outlandish fucking wacky their "vision" is.
