white rice shouldn't normally on its own bloat someones GI and should be fulfilling, guess this calls for an easy squeezy rice recipe:

Nah, i'd go like that:

Grab a pan, some olive oil on it, sautée hache garlic and onions, then add the rice and toast it a bit, season it with salt and pepper and then you add VEGGIE stock and bring it to a boil. Once it boils, then simmer it for about 15 minutes. After 15 minutes leave the pan closed for another 20 minutes or so, then fluff it with a fork

Garlic and onion is all i need for regular rice, because i don't like rice stealing the flavors from the rest of the dish

There has to be some caveat to no vegetables. How about kidney beans? They are legumes that grow out of the ground and are a good source of protein. They are my personal favorite too.

It is not a vegetable but it grows out of the ground.
