I wonder if this'll speed up them bringing in Kamala Khan into the MCU, the same sort of teenage fan becomes a hero with an established mentor thing seems like something they can rinse and repeat with Brie Larson being a bigger deal going forward.

WTF is wrong with people. You'd think Sony shot their dog. We have raised a generation of fucking babies and narcs.

Will admit I reeeeeeeeeeeeee'd upon hearing of the news, although it wasn't unexpected either. Someone earlier mentioned Sony being dead set on a Spidey Cinematic Universe and I knew regardless of MCU success if they thought they'd be anywhere even near the ballpark on returns, they'd try and go it alone.

After seeing audiences collectively throw themselves into Disney's thresher to churn out tidy box office profits (pretty much every soulless Disney film made this year), I'm convinced that whatever Disney releases for the next couple of years is still going to easily make bank and then some regardless of how shitty quality they are.

Captain Marvel 2? It's going to sell well despite being one of the weakest properties. Black Widow could completely negate her death (which would make these films even more B-grade than they already are), but that won't stop people from viewing it. The fandom's getting so absurd I wonder if Disney's legitimately counting on them to put pressure on the studios that share rights with other Marvel characters.

"Summer blockbusters" have always been shit, Disney just found a way to make them successful all year. I'm not going to sit here calling the MCU high art (and tbh despite people shrieking about I don't the vast majority of the fanbase thinks they're anything close), but huge budget retardery for decades.

Like do people get as pissed off when Fast and Furious movies break records? Those fucking things are pretty much shitty James Bond ripoffs at this point that get dumber and dumber as they go. Wide release movies are almost always complete ridiculous bullshit.

The Mouse doesn't need Spider-Man. At least for now. They have X-Men and Fantastic Four characters to set up.
They’re losing out on *the* most iconic Marvel character, who was actually set up pretty organically in the films as a member of the “new Avengers”, which they could arguably only do *because* he’s already widely known - if any of the current teen characters showed up unexpectedly in the middle of a movie, you wouldn’t have normies cheering, you have them asking, literally who?

This is a massive loss for Disney, and has pretty much tanked my remaining interest in the MCU going forwards. The Spider-Man movies were pretty much the only solo movies in phase 3 I genuinely enjoyed.

I've despised Fast and the Furious for a long time. I think the only ones I didn't dislike were the original and Tokyo Drift.

Sony and MCU are tricking people

X movies ( Civil War, Avengers Infinity War, Avengers Endgame, Spiderman Homecoming and Spiderman far from home) were made EXPLICITLY part of the MCU
Y movies ( 2 movies in production at sony and iirc a cameo ) are EXPLICITLY part of the Sony Spider-verse.

At the end of X and Y Tom Holland is done

Marvel isnt going to be making another Avengers movie anytime soon. They have the phase 4 slate to roll out and phase 5 thats likely going to be FF and X-men centered

REALISTICALLY the spiderverse only has one other property anyone has heard of (Venom) so they need Spider-Man to sell that stuff.

What Sony Wants: Enhanced access to Marvel IP
What Disney wants: More Money, more creative control [Since Sony wants to make the live action spiderverse a vassal of the MCU]

What Happen: Disney and Sony both walked away from the table. And they are manipulating exceptional individuals on twitter to pressure the other company.

Neither party has any NEED to do a new deal until the end of the Tom Holland Contract

"While not set in stone" July 31, 2020 is the release Date for Morbius. Does Disney load up a top end franchise to undermine it. Venom 2 is October 2nd 2020 Does Disney load up a competitor to undermine that movie. Thats one of the next phases of the negotiations. Even if they dont does "these dont even remotely count for the MCU" shave off 10-25% of the potential audience?

July 24th: Disney has THE JUNGLE CRUISE staring DWAYNE "I'm a national treasure" Johnson
Disney has Death on the Nile Vs Venom 2...but they could easily shift in say THE ETERNALS

Última edición:
Honestly the public backlash is going to probably result in Disney's favor which is going to be sad in a sense that using fanboy rage is going to become a common tactic among businesses.

the same X-men that got sabotaged by Disney? Those are worthless, Wolverine is gone. F4 was never cool in the cinema

not impossible to beat.

lol they're going to kill the MCU with Female Thor and other bullshit before even getting to the X-men and FF.

That's the real tragedy in all of this.
Define "tragedy." I grew up with comic books, but at this point I'm ready for box-office capeshit to die, just because of the way it's crowding out literally everything else.

I am nurturing a faint hope that The Boys will be to the superhero genre was Airplane! was to the disaster movie genre.

Whut? Wolverine is in everything now. If you're talking about Logan that was Fox not Disney and that happened because Jackman wanted to retire after doing the character for two decades.

You're retarded if you think Disney won't reboot it anyway especially after DP flopped.

Jackman IS wolverine. and Disney cant just reboot x-men, its to fresh, they need atleast 3 years to cool of before we see major x-men involvement.
