Yep it's not a surprise Sony will cave in since at the end of the day Sony cares about profits and it's ironically the best move for them to do because for all the talk about Sony Pictures "having balls", Sony Pictures at the end of the day is just Disney if they were run by incompetent morons given all the leaks with Amy Pascal and such
Ironically enough, this entire thing is happening because Sony knows that they're better off letting Marvel have the reigns and taking the easy cash rather than trying to go their own way and potentially lose out due to their retarded suits and fan backlash.

Disney knows that Sony knows this, and are using their superior position to optimize their earnings further.

It's honestly a fascinating bit of game theory. Some day you may hear of a business case study on this very situation.

That is Sony's current claim

No Kevin however means no rights to use Kevin's producer assets (the MCU)
From the moment Disney bought out Marvel (and it's movie production arm, Marvel Studios), Kevin Feige became the lower party to Disney's, he is an employee after all.

Plus it's highly likely that Feige is aligned on this too, he will let go of one toy to handle several more (Streaming shows, X-Men, F4..etc). He's not an idiot to refuse further responsibilities (and potentially, further promotions in one of the biggest companies on Earth) just because he really likes Spider-Man.

Also, the fact that Sony is even coming out with this means that they will likely concede to this demand. Just because you have a weak hand, doesn't mean that you have to make it ever weaker.

I thought Amy Pascal was all about Miles Morales instead of that white boy Peter Parker.
Amy Pascal has her name on every solo Spiderman movie beginning with Homecoming.

Expect (probably by the end of the month) Sony to agree to pay Marvel More and some parity on financing. And Kevin Feige finds the time to do this all of a sudden.

Because Sony wants to build up the Spider-Manless Spiderverse, and their Animated Spider-verse properties. Thats where they have a chance to make real money. But they need money to come in to pull that off. And Spider-man is their only solid earner right now

Superior position? You're misreading the power dynamics here. Here's some napkin math:

Far From Home grossed $1 Billion.
Sony walked away with 95% of that, or $950 million.
Disney wants to change the deal so that Sony would only get 50% of revenues, or, in FFH's case, $500 million.
Disney would also be picking up 50% of the bill.
FFH cost $200 million, so each company's share of the cost would be $100 million.
So if Sony accepted Disney's deal, they would be spending $100 million to make $500 million, seeing a $400 million profit.
$400 million profit is the magic number.
If Sony ends the Disney deal they get 100% of the revenue but also pay 100% of the cost. So, a $200 million movie would have to gross $600 million to make the magic $400 million.
Amazing Spider-Man 2 grossed $700 million.

In other words, Sony would make just as much money under the proposed Disney deal as they would on their own. Disney, however, doesn't have a character as popular as Spider-Man in its stable. It needs Spider-Man because right now Spider-Man is the only character they have with the same drawing power as Iron Man.

Sony has Disney over a barrel and both parties know it. This 50% profit sharing figure is bullshit. Its an attempt by Disney to give themselves the appearance of strength when in fact they've got jack shit. Disney wants a bigger piece of the pie because that's business, but I think the real number is somewhere around 10-15%. Just enough extra to bring to the shareholders and save face with.

Current phase ends in 2022. Likely wont be able to get to x-men till 2023 (at the earliest)
thats 3 years from now. maybe they change plans and bring in x-men before that, but they dont realy have any they can throw in.
well they have deadpool, but he isnt realy a x-men and i doubt they could get miss marvel or captain marvel or female thor, or who ever to work well with him.

Disney has TONS of stuff they can put him in to keep him from ever being able to sign again with Sony. Sony has to cut a deal
his contract is with sony,

What will likely happen? Sony will accept some version of the revenue deal Disney offered them, and Feige will be replaced as producer with some other suit. Some people will autistically rejoice, Others will autistically shriek, and the world will continue to turn regardless.
why should they say yes to a deal without feige? he is the mind behind the whole mcu.

Wolverine and Iron Man are both as big as spider-man on the big screen, but thats because of the perfect casting they did with those 2. problem is, they need to recast both of them or visit jackman/ Downey Jr. with a giant truck of cash. we talking possible 100m or some kind of revenue sharing, both actors had a run of high paying jobs, said the dont wanna do their role anymore and have good chances to get roles in other movies.

They already have 2020, 2021, and part of 2022 booked for the MCU

Stan Lee's Daughter Sides with Sony over Spider-Man Dispute

Tensions continue to boil over the fractured Spider-Man deal between Sony and Walt Disney Studios. Now, Stan Lee's daughter has offered a comment on the ordeal and well, it might be a bit surprising to some. In one recent chat with TMZ, not only did JC Lee seem to agree with Sony in the dispute, but she went on to rake executives from both Disney and Marvel over the coals over the treatment of her late father.

Seeming to speak about anti-trust concerns, Lee expressed a desire to see her father's creations "checked and balanced" as they continue being developed. "Marvel and Disney seeking total control of my father's creations must be checked and balanced by others who, while still seeking to profit, have genuine respect for Stan Lee and his legacy."

The late Marvel publisher was responsible for helping hundreds of characters for the House of Ideas including Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, the original X-Men, and plenty of others. Lee passed away last November at the age of 95. Despite Marvel owning the intellectual property of Spidey outright, JC expressed concerns over a lack of communication from Walt Disney Studios in the wake of her father's passing.

“When my father died, no one from Marvel or Disney reached out to me. From day one, they have commoditized my father’s work and never shown him or his legacy any respect or decency," Lee fumed and that's when she dropped quite the bombshell.

"In the end, no one could have treated my father worse than Marvel and Disney's executives."

Most certainly a peculiar choice of words as younger generations may only know the elder Lee from his dozens of cameos within the Marvel Cinematic Universe -- or any Marvel live-action property, for that matter.

Spider-Man: Far From Home is now in theaters.

Marvel is betting the Brand is enough to sell THE ETERNALS (which is the riskiest project on the plate)
i think miss marvel is the most risk. nobody likes her, she has some attributes that will make her a nono in china, selling a terrorist american super hero to europe is also not that easy...

Ms Marvel isnt on the big board (yet)

they are probably rolling her out via D+ before she is put into an Avengers movie

I really don't care about this capeshit stuff other then the inside baseball politics of it but I remember stan lee's daughter being an asshole who abused him in her later years
she basically took his money and used stan as a sponge for money to squeeze out
This so take anything that she says with a grain of salt since she is only complaining because of money.

The risk is almost always in the intangibles. Sony knows that their chances of a gross as high with as little work as they're doing now rn are difficult at best, there's a reason they said yes to hitching their cart to Marvel's train to begin with, none of their efforts to market the character have gone very far with consumers, which is an amazing failure imo.

The potential fan backlash alone would make any suit quake in his or her boots. Look at how short of a time it took them to start attempting to placate people.

Far from home GROSSES 1.1ish Billion
Production and marketing costs were (around) 450-500 Mil

American theaters and distributors get a "Average" of 80% of that iirc
Foreign theaters and distributors get an average of like 70

So sony and disney arent fighting over 600m.

Like do people get as pissed off when Fast and Furious movies break records? Those fucking things are pretty much shitty James Bond ripoffs at this point that get dumber and dumber as they go. Wide release movies are almost always complete ridiculous bullshit.
The direction F&F is going make the Godzilla movies look consistant.
