Ironically enough, this entire thing is happening because Sony knows that they're better off letting Marvel have the reigns and taking the easy cash rather than trying to go their own way and potentially lose out due to their retarded suits and fan backlash.Yep it's not a surprise Sony will cave in since at the end of the day Sony cares about profits and it's ironically the best move for them to do because for all the talk about Sony Pictures "having balls", Sony Pictures at the end of the day is just Disney if they were run by incompetent morons given all the leaks with Amy Pascal and such
Disney knows that Sony knows this, and are using their superior position to optimize their earnings further.
It's honestly a fascinating bit of game theory. Some day you may hear of a business case study on this very situation.
From the moment Disney bought out Marvel (and it's movie production arm, Marvel Studios), Kevin Feige became the lower party to Disney's, he is an employee after all. That is Sony's current claim
No Kevin however means no rights to use Kevin's producer assets (the MCU)
Plus it's highly likely that Feige is aligned on this too, he will let go of one toy to handle several more (Streaming shows, X-Men, F4..etc). He's not an idiot to refuse further responsibilities (and potentially, further promotions in one of the biggest companies on Earth) just because he really likes Spider-Man.
Also, the fact that Sony is even coming out with this means that they will likely concede to this demand. Just because you have a weak hand, doesn't mean that you have to make it ever weaker.
Amy Pascal has her name on every solo Spiderman movie beginning with Homecoming.I thought Amy Pascal was all about Miles Morales instead of that white boy Peter Parker.
