Also, witch hazel is a gentle astringent that closes your pores, which in turn keeps bacteria from growing and causing acne. Just put a layer on before applying any lotion or foundation.
I tried witch hazel for a while and started getting more deep, painful cystic acne. I really don't get what my skin does.

When I tried going to a dermatologist, they prescribed me something I was allergic to (didn't check my paperwork I guess) but also prescribed Cerave and Cetaphil. I was younger at the time and my skin was weirdly more cooperative, so it worked for maybe a few months. The longest-lasting thing I've tried as an adult was Dr Bronner tea tree bar soap, clearer skin for maybe five months until my skin got used to it again and it came back worse than ever.

I'm just hanging in there skincare-wise until I can go on Accutane.

I hit the Ulta jackpot this Christmas, got $105 worth in three gift cards but I spent them on two jumbo DevaCurl bottles and a Dose of Colors liquid lipstick (Los Anjealous).

And I haven't been buying Kat Von D products due to her insufferable attitude (not to mention the anti-vax nonsense), but MAN do I want the Lolita palette.

@AveraDiane I'm such a sucker for the KVD brand, it's embarrassing.

I bought the Lolita palette recently. After it arrives and I've used it a bit I'll update on how I like it. The reviews are underwhelming, but we'll see. I too got gift cards for Christmas, and used them on another KVD thing that I'm already kind of regretting even though it hasn't arrived yet. It's the Trooper Obsession set by KVD. It comes with 5 different eyeliner formulas.

It got fairly high reviews on Sephora. I will probably do some more research on other reviews and I could buy it if I think it's worth it (I always get anxious over liking products from 'problematic' brands).

I do like her Tattoo liner (always got it in Mad Max Brown). I have been on the lookout for similar eyeliners (I had a MAC one that I seem to have misplaced). I might try the new eyeliners from Dose of Colors if they get decent reviews.

Well damn, I'm also annoyed at kvd and don't want to buy from her but that looks like a good idea. Can you let us know how it works too?

I wish she'd stop naming things things "Lolita."

@AveraDiane try the Stila Stay All Day liner. I haven't tried the brown but if it's the same formula as the black one, I used up one of those and it was pretty damn good. I don't mind KVD Trooper (the Tattoo formula is the only one I've tried so far) because it's a softer black. The Stila one is hella black which is why I didn't repurchase.

@melty I will update on the eyeliner set. It's arriving tomorrow!

Only issue with the Stila Stay All Day liner is that I've found it dries up in the pen really quickly. I had to repurchase after about a month and I didn't even use it that often.

Honestly, same

Lolita arrived. My makeup is already done so I won't be playing with it today. (Same for the eyeliner collection)

Seeing Lolita in person I have to say, in terms of color story it reminds me a lot of the Too Faced Peach-whatever, the all-matte palette they did (not the larger Sweet Peach). It's also really similar to a Tarte palette that I forget the name of right now.

Regardless of how these shadows perform I'm not blown away by the color selection. Then again, I didn't expect to be. I admit I bought this more as a ~~collector's item. I do expect KVD eyeshadows to outpeform TF or Tarte because that's been my personal experience. I'll update later with how the palette performs. But I can tell you now that it's not a must-have.

Depends, bleaching will make the dye last longer and it will get you closer to the color on the box. You could try a strand or two to see how the dye+your natural color looks, ,maybe that's what you are looking for, but on most cases you should bleach it first.
I figured that would be the case, thanks!

The eyeliner that Dose of Colors released a few weeks ago is pretty good. I got one in dark brown (called Sketch). They're more cheaper than most mid-end brands I tried (15 dollars a pop), but I will be looking for cheaper alternatives so I could try a burgundy eyeliner.

Has anyone tried the eyeliners from ColourPop? If do, how are they?

Trying it on the shed hairs in your hairbrush can help you see what it looks like in a bigger amount of hair too.

I have! both their pots and pencils. they're good for the price in that they are nicely pigmented.

the pencils I find break easily but they do go on smoothly and stay put... for the most part. if you are humid, sweaty, greasy or whatnot, they're running. the yellow didn't go on as smoothly as I would have liked and broke easier than the other colors.

the pots are heavily pigmented but the yellow one i got had a rubbery consistency that made it tough to get on smoothly and dried out in the pot quickly. (yellow is the most difficult make up color btw) however, once on, it STAYS where you put it. the other colored pots went on more smoothly and stayed as well, they also didnt dry out as quickly.

so, for black, go elsewhere and spend the money. for fun colors, spend the 5 bucks and consider them disposable

Has anyone used one of those at home IPL hair removal things? Is it worth the money/effort? None of the reviews I've read have really said much about how long it took to see results and how long they lasted.

I'm pretty cheap when it comes to clothes shopping for myself. I have the tendency to scour Etsy, eBay, thrift stores, and antique shops to find clothes and accessories. That's because, personally, I hate about 99% of today's fashion trends and the quality of clothes that are offered to women these days (everything is sheer, paper thin, and stiff unless you want to spend money on luxury brands only, it seems).

Anyway, I splurged a little bit on clothes, finally. I bought some things from Unique Vintage. I'm looking forward to Spring now (and I feel like I can wear a lot of these things as Winter transitions into Spring as well).

I typically don't wear a lot of warm-toned colors (I always tend to gravitate to greens and blues). I love the pattern on this dress, and I love the "marsala" color. It's going to be a unique addition to my wardrobe, I think.

And I guess the pair of shoes I ordered sold out, because I can't find them on the site anymore, but I got a pair of cognac colored mary jane heels that I'm really excited about. I love the "cognac/whiskey" colored shoe, belt, and accessory trend from a few years ago, but I never managed to find a style of shoe in that color that I liked. I finally found something, and I can't wait to get them and wear them throughout the entirety of Spring, haha.

Is there a thread about discontinued beauty items you wish were still made? Because I would sell a kidney for more of Max Factors rosewater lipstain, Freeman's White River Musk perfume, or Fashion Fair Number Five perfume. I also can't find any clear mascara in any store near me. What the hell? *sigh*
