I tried on American Eagle men's 26 x 28 skinny jeans today, and they were really cute, but...too short for me. They have 26 x 28, and 28 x 30, but no 26 x 30, at least not in stores. I don't get that.

I had to sit outside for a while waiting for the bus, so I'm hoping that'll help preserve my hint-of-blonde natural summer highlights (my hair color is really boring, so I have to take what I can get). What do you guys think about highlights/ombre/balayage? I see so many girls with blonde highlights, both well and badly done.

I'm down with the balayage tbh. Mine ended up lighter than I had intended (I have black hair) but the blonder bits are in the bottom layers so it turned out looking cuter than it should have.

Everytime I go into the salon, it's because I need to re-touch my balayage

I generally trim my own dead ends, and keep my bangs neat, but I don't trust myself with a balayage

It's fun, depending on what shade you go for, it can be more or less subtle, but it's a nice choice for someone who wants to have an ombre effect, but not have it be so drastic. I'd recommend it, fully

I think highlights are good if they blend well with your natural color. I once had my hair dyed dark red with blood red highlights and it looked so good. I hate dyed hair that has another color added to the bottom, it looks tacky.

balayage is the best! i got one in 2016 or something & haven't even needed to do anything to it since - my hair still has this really nice golden colour at the ends, and it's grown out in a way that actually looks really natural. definitely the best route to go if you don't wanna keep getting it re-dyed. imo works best on mousey brown hair when the lighter colour is really subtle so it transitions real nice.

Does anyone own Lorac Pro 2 or Lorac Pro 3? (The regular pros, not the Mega ones.)

What are your thoughts? I already have 1 and 4, FWIW

Big Sexy Hair Soy Paste is perfect for light styling without greasy texture. It's a texture paste and I have thick hair and it works wonders.

Also Pureology Shine Max is lovely for a shine serum.

I've always found the Lorac Pro Palettes to be overrated, personally. I think the eyeshadows are too chalky and dusty for me; I always had fallout whenever I used it. I eventually gave that palette to a friend who really loved it, though.

I know that a lot of people are "over" the Urban Decay Naked Palettes, but I have religiously used mine for years, and I've definitely repurchased the first Naked Palette more than once (I'm sad it got discontinued! I still use mine all of the time!). They are definitely the palettes I reach for the most. Don't think I'll buy the new Naked Cherry palette, though. I'm a little too scared to venture out into using red eyeshadows. I'm always very self-conscious about wearing colorful eyeshadows.

I spent a lot of money at Sephora for the first time in a while yesterday. I held my nose and bought another Kat Von D Tattoo Liner (because it's the best liquid eyeliner I've used still ... I hate that I love it so much). However, a friend of mine recommended an eyeliner she bought on Amazon. It's called "LA PURE Original Eyeliner Stamp," and it's supposed to "stamp on" wings. My friend wholeheartedly swore by it, so I ordered one for myself. We'll see how it works for me! I love the look of cat eyes (especially since I wear a lot of red lipstick and gravitate towards vintage styles-- even with my wardrobe), but I always struggle with winged eyeliner.

Speaking of vintage style ... I've been venturing out and getting experimental with my hair lately. In recent months, I've actually slept in rollers to accomplish vintage waves and been practicing on victory rolls. It's been both a frustrating and a fun process, and it's true that practice makes perfect when it comes to victory rolls.

Right now, some of my favorite products to use for my hair are from a brand called Suavecito. They branched out into a female-friendly styling collection called "Suavecita." I am IN LOVE with their pomade and their grooming spray. They totally work for my fine and sometimes frizzy hair, and they smell incredible.

In theatre I mostly work wardrobe and wigs, and victory rolls and the like come up often. They're a lot of fun to do! I also find that electric rollers are a gift from God, in terms of quicker waves and victory rolls. Just gotta make sure you use a fuck-ton of hair spray, and bobby pins.

Do you use both for frizzy hair? Or one more than the other? My hair frizzes up a lot, and it'd be really nice to have nice, sleek hair.

@Country Matters I use the pomade for victory rolls; it's a MUST for me since I have a lot of "baby hairs" and flyaways. I've used the grooming spray for "wet sets" when I want my hair to curl overnight and it works pretty darn great for that. I also use the grooming spray to prep my hair for when I use a curling wand (curling wands help me achieve the vintage "finger waves" look in a short amount of time). It helps mold my hair in the shape that I want without making it feel stiff and crunchy.

The best way to prevent your hair from frizzing up is using a small amount of some kind of serum after you've styled your hair. Pomade is pretty great for that, but I find that serums are more lightweight. Granted, you would probably need to wash your hair more often if you put oil in your hair, but trust me; serums make your hair look SO much more put together and shiny (not oily)!

I feel instantly more sassy when I wear victory rolls, haha. I love wearing them; they're so fun! At first, I thought I would get rude comments from people when I started wearing my hair like that in public, but I've received nothing but compliments! And I agree that tons of hairspray and bobby pins are a must, haha.

@SAVE TWINKIE! Kat Von D is just a mess of a human being, lol. She's not only an anti-vaxxer, a drama whore, and a very possible anti-semite ... But she has a history of talking down to everyone. "If you're not an anti-vaxxer or a vegan, then you're a horrible person!" is the type of garbage she says. Plus, there was that whole debacle where a Trump voter won a contest that she threw, and then she called the fan out, resulting in canceling the contest altogether. Kat Von D is SO shitty!

... But her eyeliner is just amazing, lol. The Stila liner is great as well, but I don't like it nearly as much BECAUSE it's so black. I'm a very pale person with freckles, and I think that ultra-black eyeliner looks too harsh on me, personally. I have the Tattoo Liner in "Mad Max" brown, which is the perfect color for me, I think.

I caved and bought the too faced gingerbread spice palette.. because.. I'm still a sucker for dumb branding and especially seasonal stuff.. and well, I thought the colors were nice, of course. Trying it the first time today, and the colors I used came out a lot more orange than I thought they would be (and this was without using the obviously orange shade)
I didn't feel that way when I swatched it. I'll keep trying it and see how I feel. I was hoping it would be another winner than I use a lot, like the Bon Bons palette.

My favorite products lately:
Missha Cho Bo Yang BB Cream -really good coverage. This might be my new favorite BB cream.
Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence sunscreen - this is the best sunscreen I've ever used. Has no oily, sticky or unpleasant texture. I wear it every day.
Too Faced Bons Bons Palette - I use some shades from this every day. I used to use Anastasia eyebrow powder in dark brown for my brows, but since I ran out of that I just started using one of the dark brown shades from this palette for an eyebrow powder.. it works fine and doesn't look much different, tbh. I ended up liking almost all the brown shades from this a lot more than I thought I would. I bought this in March, I think? And I still really enjoy using it and creating different looks.
Too Faced peach my cheeks melting powder blush - I like cream blush a lot, when it blends well ofc. This blends very nicely, and the color is great. It's pretty expensive for a single color of blush, IMO.. I've been waiting for it to show up at Marshall's to get it in different colors, if it ever appears there.

I also bought more lolita crap lately, including a(nother) winter/holiday theme main piece and this pochette, as well as some berets.
I was pretty happy yesterday; I wore a simple outfit with a baby, the stars shine bright dress in public and a lot of people said they loved my dress and outfit, without asking if it's a costume or why I'm dressed up.
I'm trying to make more everyday-friendly coordinates, instead of mitchy matchy stuff that looks perfect for instagram and facebook, which I don't post on anyway.

I'm really curious to hear how the eyeliner stamp works out! I have a love hate relationship with winged eyeliner. Right now, I use MAC gel eyeliner for winged liner.

What are people's typical reaction when you wear more full on lolita stuff? I've always wondered that.

I almost never buy eyeshadows these days. For some reason, eyeshadow palettes don't catch my attention nearly as much as they used to. I did buy the Besame Cosmetics Infinity Stone eyeshadow set this Summer, though ('cause I'm a Marvel nerd). The shadows are fabulous. I've mostly been applying them to my eyes with a wet brush, to give myself a colorful and metallic eyeliner look. That's typically the way I wear colorful eyeshadows.

I'll be sure to report on it when it arrives! I'm excited to try it. My friend told me that she's able to do a winged liner look in a moving car with that product. That was a high enough praise for me to buy it.

I used to use MAC gel liner! When I was a complete newbie at eyeliner altogether, I found gel to be the easiest. Since then, I've gravitated towards liquid eyeliner. The only eyeliner I don't use at all are pencils; I still cannot understand how some people can perfectly do a winged eye look using pencil liners. Witchcraft, I say! Haha.

Speaking of MAC, I remember the days when MAC was *the* makeup brand. I've noticed that phase has dwindled considerably. That said, I still love MAC lipsticks and lipglasses.

If it's pink or pastel/bright colors, I find people will ask a lot what you're dressed up for and if it's for a play/anime convention/bridal shower/whatever. Generally people will be nice and say they like it, but are confused when I say it's not for anything. Sometimes I'll say something about harajuku style and that seems to make sense to them. If I'm with other lolitas, sometimes people will take pictures (with or without asking)
They are nice enough usually, like I don't really get outright bad comments, but it's still kind of disheartening. Even though I like colorful coords and detailed pieces, I don't like being asked if I'm in a play or "what is this all about" every ten minutes, so I'm trying to wear more toned down stuff.

I go back and forth between the gel liner and pen liners, but the mac gel is the one I keep coming back to over the years. Old habit?
I probably go back and forth because once one starts drying out, I forget why I liked it, and go back to the other thing or try something new until the same thing happens again.
Funny, I was reading someone's blog recently on the same subject of MAC not really having the dominance it used to. It's here if you're interested.
I've been meaning to check out Besame, it's been mentioned here a few times

Is the MAC gel liner smoother now? Mine would catch and drag on my eyeshadow and the line would get all skippy.
Nope it still does that lol, but it's definitely worse once it dries out a little.

Yargh. I'll stick to liquid then.

Speaking of, the Sephora Collection waterproof Colorful liquid liner is very nice. It's got a fine tip applicator that doesn't fan out if you accidentally use too much pressure. They're not kidding about it being waterproof either, I've put in eye drops after it dried without it budging a bit.
