You can use a regular eyeshadow with an angled brush and a wax and do your eyebrows. Most of the ones you'll buy, like the NYX ones really are just pigments. Just make sure there is no shimmer, it should be matte.

Sometimes I think we get so specialized we think we need a different product for everything, but it's not true. Any pencil for eyeliner you can use on brows and any eyeshadow too. Just get a cheap wax pencil to tame it all and keep the makeup in place.

That said, I do like the Anastasia dip brow. Unfortunately, it doesn't come in my favorite color but I still use it. I also have the Tarte Amazonian Clay eyebrow powder which is also nice and supposed to be volumizing for buildability although I've never seen anything like that. I do have some areas that are kind of thin. Ive changed my hair color so have a few colors and products and you can use the Amazonian clay one on your hair too, for grey coverage or to add some undertones, like you would with a chalk.

I've used the Mac singles mentioned above on eyebrows and they work great as they are super fine powders. . When I travel, I like to carry less stuff so I duplicate uses.

Has anyone had any experience with the bathing suits at Torrid or Modcloth? I found a few suits that might look best on me. My only problem is the perpetual guilt I am going to get from buying from Modcloth after they were bought out by Walmart.

The modcloth swimsuit I got a few years ago was cute but garbage quality, it wore out to the point of unusable over the course of a summer. I was lifeguarding that summer though so it saw a lot of use.

Swimsuits in general depend on what you're going to use them for. If you're just going to wear them to look cute and sunbathe but not necessarily swim, a cheap one is fine. I have a cheap-ass Spencers bikini that leaks dye when wet but looks cute if I just want a tan.

If you're going to be swimming often, go for a bit sturdier one from a brand that is known mostly for swimsuits.

I started using the Kat Von D Tattoo Lock-It foundation and it dried my skin out to hell and back within a week. Thankfully, I've got a new serum that's helping a lot. I was wondering if any of you could recommend a good day cream to pair with it though? I've never had dry, flaky skin. I barely powder my face anymore when I do wear makeup. It's so strange. I used to go through powder super fast when I was younger.

Torrid's bathing suits are pretty high-quality, just from what my customers tell me and handling them when we get them in shipment. They're made like shapewear so they hold all your squishy bits in if you get the right size and style for your body.

I will tell you, if you're large-breasted (like anything above a C cup) and you're looking at the ones with underwire, you need to get the soft-cup tops. A lot of the tops have push-up padding in them that you can't remove, and we get a lot of returns because you can't cram DDD's into these heavily-padded bathing suits. Also, when you try them on, you want it to feel almost uncomfortably tight, because it'll relax with wear, especially if you're actually swimming.

Also, my acneic Kiwi friends! I've been using a new product that you might be interested in, the Mario Badescu Special Healing Powder. So far I've only seen minimal improvement in oil control, but the spots I had when I got this stuff totally went away in just a few days, and my blackheads are slowly diminishing. I've been using it basically as a primer (over my moisturizer + SPF and under my foundation) and it helps quite a bit.

I don't love that it has talc in it but the benefits are enough that I'm overlooking it (like my eye makeup remover by theBalm cosmetics that has mineral oil in it) until I find something that works better.

My sister in law bought a Modcloth dress -its gorgeous! Don't know about bathing suits and didn't know they'd been bought by Walmart.

I always wondered about the Mario Badescu product, thanks for sharing. My acne has cleared up permanently now but I had it for a while and wondered about it.

I found a good "The Ordinary" product-the caffeine one. I often wake up with a big puffy eye-just the right one, and this seems to work quite well to reduce puffiness. I'm impressed! (Not circles though).

Has anybody tried the Becca prismatic amythyst highlighter? I really do not need another highlighter, but the words prismatic or duochrome get me every time! I'm also a person who wears a lot of purple makeup-lips and eyes-that and neutrals are my main wardrobe so I'm tempted.

Also curious about the Sunday Riley stuff. I got a sample of the blue oil and hated the smell. I'm happy with The Ordinary as serums but the VIB sale is going to happen so I should try things now. :).

Does anybody here but me have eyelash extensions?

Modcloth overcharges for thre quality of their clothes, I feel. Their clothes are cute but not worth the price.

Haven't tried the Becca highlighter but I haven't seen a bad review of it. Everyone seems to love it.

I like the Sunday Riley stuff. It actually does work. It's just so expensive. A lot of the things I had were smaller sizes that were in trial/gift sets, and I'm torn about whether it's worth it to invest in larger sizes. Good Genes, especially, is pretty costly.

Yeah, that's why I'm waiting until VIB so I can at least get a discount. I've found that Ordinary stuff and can get lactic acid for about $8.00 as opposed to 100.00 for Sunday Riley. (Don't know what else it has)

Maybe I need samples.

I love the dr Jart cleaning peels, for some reason. I doubt they do more than any thing else and don't feel me, but I like to use them while watching tv, after I've taken my makeup off and before my serums. Skin feels great. I also am big into masks and like the glam glow.

Whatever I do, I finish with retin a. Too much sun, too much acne-I need a prescription. . My skin looks nice now (still have milia)

I found out that Walmart carries some Clarins products online. The Double Serum is good shit, but it's pricey (usually $89 for the 1.6oz bottle) Walmart sells it for $59.99 - highly recommended if you're looking for a quality serum.

Note to self: never buy bras off Wish again

(I know how to size up for regular clothes and those all fit just fine so I figured the same would apply to bras. Or that, you know, they wouldn't just slap A cups onto every bra regardless of size. I was horribly wrong.)

Does anyone have any tips for stretching patent leather heels? I just got a pair of So Kates and the toe box is like a vice grip on my toes. Only method I know of is wearing socks and I literally cannot get my toes/foot in to the shoe with a sock on.

I think you should take them to a cobbler. I have heard that if you wet with alcohol you can stretch them out, but I wouldn't want to try it and wreck my shoes. A cobbler will be able to stretch them for you.

I have heard about putting water in a baggie and freezing it to stretch shoes, but I have never tried it and don't know if it works on patent leather. Cobbler is a good idea and it might not even be very expensive.

What do you guys do with extra samples from birchbox/ipsy/etc? They keep sending me mascara and I have so much of it and only use Better Than Sex mascara anyway. But all my friends are in the same predicament where they have too many samples and don't want more.
I was thinking about making a big ebay lot or something. Donate it to a women's shelter maybe? Would they take it? Idk.

Oh that's a good idea, a woman's shelter. There are some that help women get jobs (teach them how to fill out applications, so resumes, dress for jobs,) so these samples could come in handy, I didn't think of it. I had both birchbox and ipsy and have way too many unused samples, and I wasn't sure what to do either. A shelter is s good idea.

Maybe you could sell on eBay but I kind of think you wouldn't get much. Let me know if I'm wrong. I have lash extensions so don't use mascara either. And I'm very particular about lip color so have lots I won't use.

@melty
A woman's shelter is a great idea. I think any shelter/program just might be worried that you've used something and wouldn't take tested samples for sanitary reasons. It's worth a shot to see :)

Around me they have donation trucks for lupus or veterans. If you have a similar service you might be able to donate them that way. The trucks take almost anything (used clothes, books, toys, etc) that, I assume, they sell second hand and donate the cash (hopefully). I've put makeup along with other stuff. I'd just put all samples in a plastic baggie and write something like 'unused makeup' on it or something.

I'm going on a cruise next month! Does anyone have recommendations for a good waterproof facial sunscreen that won't lead to hella breakouts?

@wifflypuff I have really oily and acne pron skin so for the longest time I dreaded using sunblock at the beach. It's a bit pricey, but I've had good luck with Coola sport classic sunscreen. It's SPF 50 and comes in mango or cucumber scent.
Coola also has a mineral sunscreen that acts kind of like a BB cream to blend over pores. I haven't used it in a while but I remember that being safe.

I hope you have a great time! :)
