If you're using a cleanser with a drying/antiseptic ingredient like tea tree oil, you don't really need toner. Toners are really great as an "I'm too tired/lazy to go through my whole routine" product (after removing makeup, of course!) but it's not something you need every day unless your skin is excessively oily. Just like, unless you're extremely dry, you don't need moisturizer during the day, only SPF.

Is your skin oily, or just acne-prone? It's possible that you might be over-stripping your skin a bit. My face used to be covered in zits but once I stopped using acne-targeted products, I cleared right up and now I just get the odd cystic bump once in a while (as opposed to lots of smaller pimples in addition to cystic bumps). It's funny that @Nyx suggested Yes to Cucumbers because that gel cleanser saved my face a few years ago. It's great for the price and I might switch back when I run out of my current stuff.

(Sorry, this is just one of the things I went to school for... I don't get to flex my esthetician muscles very often, since I don't work in the treatment room and most of my customers work with hair. I'm not trying to do a consultation via the internet, I swear, lol.)
Lol, thanks for the advice. I really have no experience with acne, because I never suffered it in my teen years (aside from the occasional breakout). My skin is usually oily, but the winter has made it dry, but i'll probably go looking for the Yes To Cucumbers once my card turns over.

My skin is more what you'd describe as "normal" during the winter. In the spring and summer, though? So gross. I have to take my entire makeup regimen to work because it all might slide off in the middle of the day, or a cloud of pollen might blow in my face, get stuck, and have to be removed (yes, this has happened enough times for it to be a concern) because it burns my skin. It's already getting to be that time of year and I'M NOT READY YET.

Anything anti-inflammatory is good for both dry and acne-prone skin, so that's a good product line to check out, for sure. I hope it works out for you!

Damn that sounds unfortunate, is that because of allergies or something?

I live in the deep south. I hate having my makeup slide off mid day and primer and setting powder doesn't really seem to be helping. Is my only option to avoid the heat and humidity?

You could try mineral makeup or powder foundation, if you haven't already. They're more budge-proof.
I used to wear Bare Minerals and had that issue then too.(:_( I guess I either gotta wait for my skin to stop being so oily or just avoid the heat.
Also more of a skincare thing, but I'm home for spring break and my mom is dead-set on getting me to the dermatologist to get a chemical peel done. How long is it gonna take for all that skin to flake off? I'm gonna be seeing my crush and I don't want him seeing my entire fucking face peeling off

It depends on the kind of peel you're getting done. With something mild like a vitamin C or glycolic peel, you may get some redness but it won't make your face fall off. The more hardcore, medical-grade peels, though, like Jessener or phenol peels, will make your skin literally peel off (phenol peels remove a lot of the epidermis and you can't go out in daylight for like a week). It's gross-looking as all get-out but there are major benefits to it, if you do the proper aftercare.

I did a Jessener peel on a client once, under the supervision of a teacher. It was one of the scariest things I've ever done. Her skin turned blood-red and the peel kept eating through my gloves (I had to change them like five times). But she came back a week or so later to get a hydrating facial and her skin looked great, so at least there was that.

If you've never gotten a peel or any kind of intensive exfoliation before, I would recommend you start with microdermabrasion. Personally, I prefer microderm to anything else because not only does it have the exfoliation benefits, but the suction increases circulation and breaks up lymphatic fluid you might have trapped under your skin. And the recovery time is much shorter.

Yes. I am highly allergic to pollen. Most people are, to some degree, but I have to dope myself up on anti-histamines before going anywhere for a couple of months. Y'know, until plant matter stops exploding all over the place.

Does anyone have any experience shopping with Aliexpress? I broke my flipflops today and I'm already shopping for some replacement sandals, and so far I can only find the ones I like on there. I've seen some red-flag reviews of the sellers there though (such as taking months to send an order) and I'd really like to have some sandals sooner than later because it's getting hot.

Yeah, could you show me the listing in question? AE is great, you just gotta know what to look out for

Bless you, would it be worth trying something like immunotherapy or is it basically untreatable? I have dermatographic urticaria so I can totally relate to having your histamines just attack you for no reason, it's not fun :heart-empty:

It's very hit and miss, basically it's eBay exclusively for Asian suppliers so it will depend on who you buy them from. Haven't ordered from there specifically but I've had lots of experience with buying stuff from China; it'll probably take at least a month to get to you, and that's if they're prompt. If they're your dream sandals then go for it, but maybe get a cheapie throwaway pair for you to wear in the meantime haha.

I've bought socks and cosplay items from aliexpress. Usually as long as you buy from sellers with good ratings they will deliver but every single purchase i made there took a long time to be delivered, like ~2months usually. Also, always ask for pictures of what you are buying cause there are sellers there that steal pictures from better products to announce their knockoff so i would recommend you exchange a few emails before buying anything, otherwise you risk buying something you never wanted or of the wrong size.

I could get a round of shots and it would make things easier, but I'd have to talk to an allergist and possibly get tested for everything again, since my body seems to have changed so much since I got tested a few years ago. I'm alright, it's something I've learned to deal with at this point. For instance, now, instead of sneezing constantly, my eyes swell and run a lot. So in addition to making sure I take allergy pills, I use an eye cream with menthol in it that helps break up my congestion, and every 2-3 weeks I use some collagen under-eye packs that help with the swelling. Plus, waterproof mascara and eyeliner. Otherwise I'd be a goopy, eyeliner-streaked nightmare.

I'm really excited cos I ordered some new (or at least it's new to me) beauty products from Korea and they should be here in about 3 weeks. I ordered a Skin Food Mushroom BB cream, an Innisfree No Sebum mineral compact, and a TONYMOLY Egg Pore steam balm. This is the second time all my stuff ran out at once... A few weeks ago I had to buy an entire hair care regimen and now I'm stocking up on skin and makeup basics.

This specific sandal is actually all over AE, and I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not. I can find it on ebay too.
The seller has no feedback for that specific listing but overall has a good rating. Check the feedback for other listings of the same item and see what you think. I would go ahead and order it, it's probably about the same quality as sandals you'd find at Target. Sellers try hard to maintain good ratings so if the item doesn't arrive, they'll usually offer to refund you or resend the item.

Welp, company I was working with ended my long-term contract a month in last week and gave me three days notice.

I also had my first professional hair cut since 2012 (gift from my mom) because I had some bad split ends and she wanted to treat me. If there's anything I missed it's having someone else comb, touch, and shampoo my hair. I went to the same shop my mom has been taking me since I was a literal baby. I love them because they say I'm one of the few clients they trust to cut/bleach/color their own hair and they love that I'm always up for a new style.

I had some splits that went 1/2 inch up the hair shaft so I said let's go!

I'm a graphic designer so hair like this is par for the course. Hair was maybe a couple inches under my shoulders but there was some damage to the ends that I didn't keep an eye on.

I also got these sweet laceup flats in blue velvet.

I'm so excited, y'all. I finally found a permanent haircolor that won't make my scalp explode. My managers are gonna give me all kinds of shit when I tell customers what I used (they'll ask, and I'm not about to lie and tell them it's something we carry) but we don't have any PPD-free color in the store, so what am I supposed to do? Just keep aggravating an allergy and making it worse?

I've had this tube of Wella Illumen for months but I was so scared to try it, I never did. The other night I was bored so I did a patch test and it was totally fine! Yay! So I colored my hair (I was due for a touch-up) and went for the half-platinum, half-light brown look. I don't love the shade I had (I forget the numbers but it's a level 6 ash-violet and it washes me out) so I went and picked another one yesterday to use when I need another touch-up.

My choices were 6/17 and 10/95:

6/17 is actually a lot warmer on the swatch, and 10/95 is lighter and more pinkish. They looked really nice together!

Well I visited the dermatologist during spring break and he put me on an antibiotic for my acne and also gave me a 10% benzyl peroxide wash. Took my first dose of the antibiotic today, hopefully won't give me any of the weird side effects it has listed. Apparently the reason my acne has gotten a lot worse (despite being on a more rigorous skincare routine and being on prescription acne creams) since going to college is stress (:_(

Ooh I really like 10/95. I'm not sure what that color is called but I'm seeing it crop up in a lot of Japanese street snaps (along with this cool dusty purple color) and was wondering if anyone manufactured dye for it. Maybe if/when I get sick of having white hair I'll try that

Yo guys, what are your favourite brands of eyebrow pencil? I'm getting really lazy. I'm sick of constantly washing my angled eyeliner brushes, since I use dipbrow. I fancy a change.

It's like a blush pink. The /95 is red-violet and for some reason the pictures all look weirdly orange, but the swatch was a warm, almost pastel pink-blonde. I fell instantly in love with it and I'm going to be crushed if it doesn't turn out right.

There are a few companies that make dusty purples (Kenra's violet metallics are the most prominent ones) but your best bet is honestly going to be mixing direct dyes. It'll last just as long but it's nicer on your hair because there's no developer involved. The violet metallics are really nice but they don't last at all, even the permanent ones.

Is dipbrow a gel-like material? I use a powder (Kate designing eyebrow N EX-4, usually the two blond shades in it) currently and like the texture a lot better than pencils.
