King of the hill appreciation thread - Yup.

so what really happened, again? i know he burnt a hole in his childhood home by grilling indoors (drugs?), eventually burning down the house with his dogs inside, and was a nuisance in his neighborhood, but what confrontation led to him getting shot?
Joss was very well known for doing retarded, dangerous meth-head shit by everyone in the neighborhood, including picking fights and physically assaulting people. He was incredibly unstable to begin with and decided to self-treat said instability with methamphetamine, which went about as well as one might expect and he and his "boyfriend" [a woman that decided she was a man one day] were living in the burnt out wreckage of his home at the time. It's pretty scant on details but they will likely come out in court, but one can assume that Joss decided to pick a fight/assault one of his neighbors in a deranged tweaker meltdown and ran into someone that he would have been better off avoiding who apparently had a firearm.

It had fuck all to do with Joss's sexual proclivities or his romantic life, and everything to do with his deranged fucking tweaker behavior. He was a well-known nuisance around the neighborhood, people were fed up with his bullshit long before any of this happened. However, in a very long-running theme, the "queer community" has decided that Joss got offed by someone who hated him because he was fucking a natal woman who went by a male name. This is similar to when they decided that the Matthew Shephard case was about hatred for faggots and not the fact that a faggot had ripped off his meth dealer and got killed for his trouble, because apparently you don't steal from meth dealers who know where you live - who knew? I thought that was a safe activity!

Not to mention the "husband" started that claim if I recall correctly.

Could not have said it better myself. Joss was a mentally unstable meth head who terrorized his neighbors both verbally and physically to the point where they one day decided to take matters into their own hands and he died as a result. Internet trannies then twisted this into a politically motivated hate crime where he was targeted because of his "husband" (woman who decided to call herself a man) People online ate this up because it plays into the narrative of trans violence which equals victimhood which is their currency.

Still can’t get behind the multiple genders bathroom joke in the reboot. I know that the Hills were off in Saudi Arabia, but does Saudi state media not broadcast insanity about genders in the states?
well he said the only news they had was cnn and fox news so i think he just stopped paying attention

Well, if we were to think of an in-universe explanation, it's likely Hank Hill was just too arrogant to think it could happen in Arlen, Texas of all places. I've seen plenty of boomers with that type of old fashion hubris including several of my uncles, whom underestimate how aggressive and contaminating these progressive mindsets are throughout the nation.

Also, new trailer is out:
Animation fluidity looks slightly improved.
My biggest gripe still is Khan's voice. Should've kept Toby Huss and just dealt with the crybabies online until they moved on within weeks. I do find it hypocritical that they have to choose someone who's just "Asian" in this case a Chinese person when Khan is Laotian.

The Saudi thing was kind of stupid. It would have made a lot more sense if they were in Mexico setting up a new Strickland branch or something.

The new trailer contains that scene that was in the storyboard leaks last year of Bobby and Connie getting caught in bed together. So I guess that means those storyboard leaks were for this season instead of last. Or this season was supposed to be apart of last season and they for some reason decided to split it into two.

I feel the reason why they want the Saudi route was not only so they could get the Hills out of the country so they could make the whole "We have been gone for a long time and everything is different!" joke but also because it allowed them to introduce the idea of the Hills being more financially well off. The Hills being wealthier allows for new plot ideas and storyline opportunities.

Hank going to Saudia Arabia makes sense when it is framed in that context. How does Hank get an easy retirement? Well he ends up in a different country who is a giant in the energy industry and he is able to put his knowledge of propane to use. It is a little odd but it isn't like the original series was immune from the concept of exploring Hank pushing his boundaries and learning to do things he previously never thought he would do.

I'm not changing this threads title. King of the hill will always be worth appreciating. Even if you don't like the new season/reboot we'll always have the original.
I just pretend the reboot seasons no longer exist. Or a couple of the last seasons on the original run. Makes the show much better that way.

It can't be changed now but I think if they went a more natural career route for him it would make more sense in the show, like Jace mentioned about Mexico. They could have shown subtle demographic shifts in the town, like when they pulled out to a wide shot the town's skyline would be different, or background characters and shops changing too. It wouldn't have the same impact as moving away and coming back to their hometown for a joke though.

This animation looks like 2010 Newgrounds flash animation. Jesus Christ.

"You will never know if you are attractive. It is up to a man to tell you that. You keep eating and I'll tell you when to stop."

-Cotton Hill

When I first heard this line, I thought Cotton was being sexist and unreasonable. Why should a woman derive her self-worth from someone else? Then I look at CURRENT YEAR women and realized Cotton was making an empirical observation. Women really do derive their self-worth from men and when they don't, they go crazy and uglify anyone prettier than them. Also anorexia, which Cotton was fighting in words and Deedees.

I think Cotton was secretly Mike Judge’s favorite character. The first episode he’s featured in was really the only one where it could be considered negative…yet he had a lot of good points and good laughs there too.

I was very disappointed by the lack of Bill in the revival series.

Personally I think the Bill focused episodes like Pretty Pretty Dresses or A Beer Can Called Desire are some of the best in the original run. reducing our boy to a lazy too fat to leave his house joke is doing him dirty.

I was never much of a Bill fan myself preferring Hank focused episodes more. I enjoyed the reboot for the most parts with a few nitpicks. Biggest being the voice actor for Dale. I feel for the guy doing it. It must be an insanely hard voice to nail down but he really misses the mark.

I think they realized making him that obese was a mistake. I know they back tracked quickly after a few episodes. I hope they use the character.
