Dale's voice is... Fine? It's not great, but I got used to it by the end. Making Dale an antimasker type guy makes sense but given how much conspiracy shit has penetrated the mainstream since the end of the original show I was hoping they'd get more creative with it.
It wasn't just his voice that made him terrible in the new series though. They completely flanderized him. All he does is talk about conspiracies now. In the old series it was one part of his personality in the reboot it's all he ever talks about to the point where he almost comes off as mentally ill. I kept telling my gf who I watched it with it felt like a poor impersonation of Dale rather then actually him.
I am def with the crowd that says it was just passable. A 5.5-6 out of 10. It wasn't bad at all and I really did enjoy seeing Bobby as an adult and both Peggy and Hank were near perfectly characterized (although there was slight flanderization with peggy). With that being said I never once had the urge to go rewatch it after watching it that first time last summer. Nothing about it was like "I need to go watch that again!" it was more like "huh, well that wasn't horrible okay"
It was rough around the edges with the voice acting, esp for Kahn's new VA and Dale Gribble having a dying VA and a new VA swap between episodes. The animation was not as good (esp compared to the Beavis and Butthead revival) nor the show coming out weekly but rather all at once didn't allow people to absorb each episode in a meaningful way in online discussion.
That said, I enjoyed most of it. Yes, some episodes were stinkers, but as someone who puts KOTH up there as one of my most rewatched shows, it felt far better than the few final seasons of KOTH in general where character assassinations occurred via retcons or reveals.
Even the post-Judge/Daniels era of showrunning/writing KOTH (Season 5 onward) hallmarks of the gradual increasing flanderization such as Peggy's insufferable ego or Dale's zany antics were toned down to more akin of their season 2-4 portrayals since both of Judge/Daniels are in a far more active role with the reboots development.
One of the worst offenders in the tailend seasons of the OG run were the episodes of Cotton's death and another of wanting his ashes dumped in a toilet where Patton supposedly shat in rather than buried at Texas State Cemetery as in Season 4's season premiere. In those 2 parter episodes, both Cotton and Peggy's animosity of each other is mended to a degree as they cooperated with each other to help claim Cotton's grave lot and help Peggy recover from her skydiving injury. There was a glimpse of a mutual understanding of the two and it ended on a nice touch of them slow dancing together on the plot that Cotton desired. Instead when Cotton dies in the later season due to his injuries from PTSD moment at a Japanese restaurant against Mexican cooks, which contradicted the season 6 two parter of him forgoing his grudge against the Japanese by making amends with the Japanese emperor, Peggy acts like a total bitch by not allowing Bobby to see Cotton on his deathbed, whom Cotton was very affectionate towards, claiming nobody will miss him.
I thought it was weird that Bobby had zero contact with Cotton prior to his death in that episode despite possibly being the sole person in the entire series that Cotton actually liked or respected.

The signs of a good show is where it could handle serious topics with their characters being a vehicle on reacting to it.

One of the final episodes where it's revealed that Kahn has manic depression. One minute you're absolutely elevated, ready to take on whatever dilemma that comes to you. Next minute, seemingly out of nowhere, you shut down.

I doubt we'll ever know for sure but he was a long time junkie and so was his neighbor. It was undoubtedly a stereotypical junkie dispute over a small amount of money or drugs.
You can't really ascribe logic to crackheads since they aren't normal people and don't think like normal people.

Just a reminder that Jonathan Ross was a meth head who used to scream slurs outside his house in the middle of the night and got into serious fights with his neighbors on multiple occasions. Also his "boyfriend" was just a woman who went by they/them and the attacker very likely didn't even know they were trans.
