OG cast = good
New cast = forgettable to the point of being completely irrelevant

People say the locust shit was pointless but I could have had the entire film been about just that and would have enjoyed it more.
The only thing I can say about the casting for World era is that Bryce Dallas Howard is very hot, so I'll give it that. But yea, everyone else in World is completely boring trash.

Saw this movie and my thought is that the majesty of seeing dinosaurs on the big screen just isn't there anymore. The first Jurassic Park really made an impression and changed a lot in cinema and every single one after just couldn't catch up to that feeling. I just do not give a shit about seeing CGI dinosaurs running around.
I mean there wasn't really any other place for dinosaur special effects to go. The only new things to do now is either go back and try to perfect Phil Tippett's Go Motion techniques to see if we can make something that looks on par or better than CGI, or maybe someday there will be some new kind of special effect than none of us could even dream of right now.

Just saw Dominion with my old man.
Movie was surprisingly better then I expected it.
One thing that surprise me of was how the film didn't even once made fun of the old cast for being old.
The old and new cast worked well together as a sorta union between the two trilogies.
The jokes didn't land for me but they constantly made by boomer dad laugh so they seem to work for him.
Parts of the film feel like they were forced to work with a set number of quotas like "you'd need at least a certain number of black characters and none of them can be the villian at the end" and "female characters need to do xyz or else we're not sending the right message to little girls". With that said it wasn't as bothersome as compared to it in some other movies.
The final Dino battle towards the end of the movie should of had a surprise reappearance of Spinosaurus so we could've had a three on T-rex vs. Giga, vs. Spino fight.

For an end to a fanfic trilogy this was not that bad. This was a much better movie then say The rise of skywalker.

Saw Dominion on the weekend.

What was even the point of Blue's baby in this movie?

Overall, it was fine, better than the second World movie by a mile. I was kind of hoping it would be more about dinosaurs integrating into the modern world, so I really enjoyed the dino black market segment, but this movie really just felt like they had 5 different ideas for the film, couldn't decide and just said "fuck it" and smashed them all together.

Marathoning Parks and Rec right before watching it was potentially a bad idea, seeing current day Pratt still gives me whiplash.

Alright popcorn flick, Quetzalcoatlus criminally low screen time.

I don't get the hate for Spinosaurus in JP3. The depiction is outdated but like powercreep seems inevitable for a sequel (They can't keep using T-Rex lol) and Giganotosaurus doesn't look as unique.
Spino is my favourite dinosaur, so it did kinda hurt seeing it be so fugly and weird in JP3. I won't lie, I was secretly hoping to see it pop up in Dominion.

What the fuck.

Apparently there's 14 minutes of extra footage.

i believe the extra 14 minutes is an extended version of the "prologue" they put out in theaters last year as a teaser, and was cut from the actual theatrical release this year. There has gotta be a bit more but here is the 5 mins that came out last year, it truly changes the movie (NOT)

You know what, I can see that. I was wondering why the hell we had this "sneak peek" prologue of the movie but then it didn't show up in the final release. The snippet of the campgrounds short film did, but why didn't the drive-in rampage?

I picked this up earlier today and put the digital copy on my phone for later. I may watch it on my flight tomorrow if I have the time.

I’m happy with the purchase and I’m looking forward to watching the extras as well as the added footage, but I can’t imagine the extended cut changes the movie very drastically.

I really did not like the prologue anyway for a few reasons. The biggest in my eyes being the fact that they showed the dinosaurs existing in the past at all. This is bad enough because by doing that you effectively dismantle the whole argument that Jurassic Park’s dinosaurs don’t look realistic because they are genetically engineered. By depicting their appearance in the Mesozoic, their “true” appearance within canon has been set in stone, and now you cannot have a reasonable response to obnoxious fucktards who come out of the woodwork every time a new film comes out to complain about how the films butchered what the scientific community has decided this week’s “scientifically accurate” dinosaurs are. You can’t counter by saying that the dinosaurs in the films are meant to be genetic alterations of real animals, because that isn’t true any more. The prologue has shown us the “real animals”, and if they aren’t inaccurately depicted already, they will be in the future.

On top of that, the dinosaurs in the prologue are creatures from all across the world from all kinds of different periods within the Mesozoic, all together at one point in time. What the fuck? Why is something like this accepted in a movie that was once so appreciated for its intelligent approach to science fiction, that something like the difference between the separate eras and regions that these animals supposedly inhabited is just completely disregarded? This is something any ten-year-old dinosaur enthusiast could tell you you fucked up on. I know I said before that I personally really don’t care how the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park are depicted very much, but I am admittedly pretty dumbfounded why this was decided to appear in a canon JP entry. If you are going to depict true Mesozoic era dinosaurs in a JP movie (which you shouldn’t), at least try to get your setting right.

There also were of course inevitable snippets of wokeshit speckled throughout that irritated me.

I certainly would have mentioned all of this stuff back when the prologue first came out, but like I said earlier in the thread I was avoiding news of the movie as best I could and didn’t see the short until very soon before the actual film came out.

I hope this is the last JP movie based on the original. I don't want any more sequels. What I want instead is a remake that ignores the past 20 years and is a faithful remake of the novel. Most I would do is update some science so Velociraptors are Achillobator, etc.
I want to see a remake of every movie where the dinosaurs get to the mainland and theyre all of 15 minutes long. Tanks and attack helicopters show up and the dinosaur problem is over after 5 minutes of baysplosions.

Still can’t get over the fact that they decided to make the main focus of the film giant locusts rather than the dinosaurs coexisting with humanity.

Even better, Trevorrow said that the reason for it was so that Ellie Sattler would be able to play to her strengths as a paleobotanist.

They did have stuff about dinosaurs coexisting with humanity though, especially exploitation and black market trade of them which is honestly what I would think would be the biggest thing that would happen in that situation (knowing what evil fuckers humans are and all).

Speaking of say what you will, but I think Camp Cretaceous actually had some of the most horrific stuff of all in the JP franchise in the latter seasons because of the animal cruelty/exploitation themes. Worst for me was Big Eddie being drugged to attack Little Eddie, and her trying to care for little Eddie and bring her meat and stuff afterwards. The later scene almost made me cry.

Also Yasammy real and JP confirmed as lesbian/bi woman culture, and my crops are watered and I will survive winter as a result (seriously tho I think it was actually pretty cute/well-written lgbtq rep for a kids show)
