What the
fuck.

Apparently there's 14 minutes of extra footage.
I picked this up earlier today and put the digital copy on my phone for later. I may watch it on my flight tomorrow if I have the time.
I’m happy with the purchase and I’m looking forward to watching the extras as well as the added footage, but I can’t imagine the extended cut changes the movie very drastically.
I really did not like the prologue anyway for a few reasons. The biggest in my eyes being the fact that they showed the dinosaurs existing in the past at all. This is bad enough because by doing that you effectively dismantle the whole argument that Jurassic Park’s dinosaurs don’t look realistic because they are genetically engineered. By depicting their appearance in the Mesozoic, their “true” appearance within canon has been set in stone, and now you cannot have a reasonable response to obnoxious fucktards who come out of the woodwork every time a new film comes out to complain about how the films butchered what the scientific community has decided this week’s “scientifically accurate” dinosaurs are. You can’t counter by saying that the dinosaurs in the films are meant to be genetic alterations of real animals, because that isn’t true any more. The prologue has shown us the “real animals”, and if they aren’t inaccurately depicted already, they will be in the future.
On top of that, the dinosaurs in the prologue are creatures from all across the world from all kinds of different periods within the Mesozoic, all together at one point in time. What the fuck? Why is something like this accepted in a movie that was once so appreciated for its intelligent approach to science fiction, that something like the difference between the separate eras and regions that these animals supposedly inhabited is just completely disregarded? This is something any ten-year-old dinosaur enthusiast could tell you you fucked up on. I know I said before that I personally really don’t care how the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park are depicted very much, but I am admittedly pretty dumbfounded why this was decided to appear in a canon JP entry. If you are going to depict true Mesozoic era dinosaurs in a JP movie (which you shouldn’t), at least try to get your setting right.
There also were of course inevitable snippets of wokeshit speckled throughout that irritated me.
I certainly would have mentioned all of this stuff back when the prologue first came out, but like I said earlier in the thread I was avoiding news of the movie as best I could and didn’t see the short until very soon before the actual film came out.
